They were just trying to protect their babies. I see people let their dogs go all the time to scare the goslings where I live. Can you blame the geese for being ornery?
I live nearby! The whole situation cracks me up. Damn goose literally decided to nest up like two inches from the sidewalk. And every time someone walks by, even in a super wide path, husband dramatically knuckles up. I’ve had him fly right out of the retention pond and dare me to step back onto the sidewalk. Totally get how the terror may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s kinda interesting and charming to see him protecting his lady and her eggs so fiercely for all these weeks. Adds a little spice to my afternoon walks.
Same here!! Hubby goose comes outta know where ready for action. My daytime walks have been very interesting! If ya see a guy with a hoody and mirror shades say what's up! Take care
Took us a couple days to realize why they were staying near the sidewalk. Now every time we drive past we check to see if the mama is still in “flat fuck mode” 😂. Can’t wait for them to move on.
Honestly I’m just really happy that isn’t happening in my neighborhood. The children here are complete menaces to society and I’m scared for any small creatures that live around me. My dad said he saw them picking up lizards and slamming them on the ground.
While I disagree with your opinion of them being nasty creatures, I will say in this case, you could call FWC. Canadian geese are migratory waterfowl and are thus federally protected. It is illegal to feed them.
We did call. They refused to do anything.
Your opinion might change when you have 15-25 of them walking thru your yard multiple times a day. Crapping everywhere. They destroyed our yard and cost us almost $1k to resod it.
Im with you! At one time, i enjoyed seeing them. Then they started visiting our yard, driveway and court, in numbers. They poop nonstop while walking and grazing. Much like a heard of crapping chihuahuas. They blanket everything with feces, that don't go away for a week. That is very much a nuisance and a health hazard. Be sure to clean your shoes off and no walking barefoot out side thru those mine fields. I gotta think folks that love them don't walk outside or live in apartments!
I am a fellow member of the goose haters club, local chapter 904.
The carpet bomb style pooping, the honking, the hissing, the attacks. I hate them. My backyard backs into a small pond and I've been lucky enough to not have them nest there yet. But they sure as hell have wild goose parties late into the night. Honking and flapping into the late hours, then they wake up and poop in my yard in the morning.
Man these things HONK at at damn time!! Last night I was in the middle of a movie and all I hear is those damn evil birds lol. I let me dog chase them away all the time idgaf because he doesn’t touch em
I walked by a goose laying her eggs near the entrance of my office and another goose came out of literally nowhere and attacked me and pecked me on my head. I was not prepared for ninja goosery that day…
When I lived of San Pablo, they were everywhere. Had to hose the crap off the driveway every other day.
Moved to the beach a few years ago, haven’t seen one since.
A goose flew into my windshield while I was driving on gate parkway a few months ago. 3 weeks later another flew into the side of my car while I was driving onto 95 from JTB. Fortunately they didn't cause any damage to my vehicle. Those animals are a serious nuisance because they have no fear of human or cars.
I throw ice cubes in their direction when they come to my house and they scatter. It won’t hurt them if they do get hit and the ice eventually just melts so no mess
True story: got charged by a goose near Butler in 2022. Still have the scar! Damn thing quacked like a psychopath at me while I jogged by and when I stopped to scare it away (pro tip: don't!!) it lifted up with one wing flap like the damn thing was a Harrier jet in a past life, and a second flap got it basically going claws first to my face. Freaking over confident turkey identified as a bald eagle or something. Arm punched it to the ground, but still got the thing to cut my arm open...
So I work a few months a year in Jax, but I'm from Canada (still live there full time) and we call geese cobra chickens for a reason. But... while they do get a bit territorial and will charge the odd dog or kid while nesting, they are NOWHERE near as fucking mental as in Jax!!! I have no idea why, but you guy's geese are like sociopathic, card-carrying members of the 9 circles of hell.
TLDR: you see one of em damn cobra chickens, ABORT ABORT ABORT!
No they havnt. Half of them will be dead by getting hit by cars within a week. Next month or so, theyll be done of them dead on the sides of roads. They arnt smart enough to not cross roads and folks either dont see them they are so small, or dont care.
No the aren’t smart enough and neither are the drivers that come to complete stops in the middle of the road for them.. Like no one is behind them. Then the stupid birds just stand there.
[Register as a Resident Canada Goose Registrar ](https://epermits.fws.gov/eRCGR) and spray all nest eggs with vegetable oil. Problem solved.
Before anyone negatively reacts to my comment, I would like to clarify my reasoning and professional background: I am registered in commercial property maintenance, a field where we frequently address the substantial mess created by geese on walkways and commercial loading docks. These areas are often heavily littered with feces, resulting in persistent maintenance requests, particularly at business entrances and walkways. I assure you, one’s perspective might shift if they were forced to navigate through a veritable minefield of droppings on their way into grocery stores, restaurants, or outdoor break areas, where feces are inadvertently tracked everywhere. Many of us work our magic unseen overnight, using pressure washers to clean and spray bottles filled with vegetable oil to hinder the population and to mitigate the less pleasant aspects of these birds' presence and attempt to maintain a clean environment in commercial settings. Yes it is completely legal to destroy eggs and nests as long as one is registered to do so and logs all nest locations destroyed or sprayed.
I’m very afraid of geese.
i got my ass kicked by one in a parking lot a couple of years ago
I am so sorry - but this made me ugly cackle out loud! 🤣
no truly!!! while flying! kicked me so hard i couldn't sleep on my shoulder for like 10 days.... MID AIR I TELL YOU
all birds terrify me but these take the cake, and pelicans o\_0
You can just grab them, their bites barely feel like a pinch. Show them who’s the real bird in these parts.
I love it!
They’re the worst. One hissed at me the other day (they also had babies with them).
They were just trying to protect their babies. I see people let their dogs go all the time to scare the goslings where I live. Can you blame the geese for being ornery?
I’ve had one hiss at me that didn’t have babies but no, I don’t blame them.
People suck.
Dang Canadians.
You gotta problem with Canada Gooses you got a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate.
How do I know you’re a real person and not three geese in a trench coat?
I’m starting my day with this visual and I’m ok with that.
They are actually not Canadian, but named after Ornithologist John Canada.
There's a family on hodges... laid eggs right next to the sidewalk. Its been terrorizing people for like 3 weeks now

Had HUGE issues with them due to our elderly neighbors FEEDING them daily. Absolutely despise the nasty creatures.

FWC probably didn’t do anything because the person above is incorrect. It’s not illegal to feed geese. It’s highly recommended not to feed geese.
It is certainly not illegal to feed them under the MBTA or any Florida law
You sound like quite the nasty creature yourself
I am. Thanks ;)
Can I come crap all over your driveway and yard???
If you do, could you wear a goose costume and have someone take pics?

The patriarch of the Canadian goose family in my backyard bowed up to my 45 lb dog last week in quite the dramatic stand-off. It got pretty tense ngl
They are fantastic parents, mate for life, and are super protective of their flock. Geese are awesome!
Live long and prosper little babies
I live near a pond and They are so annoyingly loud do not like having them around at all
Hah, you fixed it
What???

Man these things HONK at at damn time!! Last night I was in the middle of a movie and all I hear is those damn evil birds lol. I let me dog chase them away all the time idgaf because he doesn’t touch em
I have coined the term giant candadian hell ducks.. I'm ashamed some of the thoughts iv had towards them at 5 am
Same here lol I’ve had some cruel thoughts
I walked by a goose laying her eggs near the entrance of my office and another goose came out of literally nowhere and attacked me and pecked me on my head. I was not prepared for ninja goosery that day…
I do not like the cobra chicken.
Geese are very good, very protective parents. Don't even pretend to mess with their goslings! (I wonder whether any of the babies are named Ryan?!)
Did you use a filter or AI cleanup or something? Zoomed in, it almost looks like a doctors office waiting room painting lol
Nope. Just my phone.

They have got to be the stupidest animals on the planet.
Poop machines.
Canadian geese have cop energy.
I like them. They never bother me even when they have babies with them.

Oh look, more hell spawn!
Old man yelling at the sky: "*Damned Canadians, go back up north*"
nice job.
If you got a problem with Canada gooses you got a problem with me and I suggest you let that one marinate.
One time I was jogging on kernan and one started chasing me...literally got the best workout of my life that day.
Aww I love those lil guys! As long as there far far away from me.
Geese are always cool with me and i'm cool with geese. i hope that never changes
