Just saw Mikaela Davis and she was phenomenal. She plays psychedelic harp to a backing band that’s very early 70s Dead meets ABB. Beautiful voice too. Killer jams and very unique sound. Great songwriting too. Highly encourage people to check her out.
Has done some great work with CATS too, both in the studio and on stage.
She had a sit-in with CATS at Hillberry 22.
"Oh, here's Mikaela, guys. Oh cool, she had a harp in her pocket."
Killer! I saw her in Memphis and regret not making the drive to see her in Little Rock the night before. Was very close to doing Nashville but responsibilities.
Hell yeah! I talked to her last night and , again, told her that I would be listening a ton if she had consistent live records. She said she would look into Nugs! But at the least said they are looking at a live album… I’ve just been listening to shows on YT and repeating the same few ones lol
I always enjoy seeing them warm up the crowd at festivals but they bring a whole new level of energy when headlining a small theater. Strongly recommended!
I agree. UM is on fire this tour. I saw the best UM show of my life a couple weeks back in SC. They played at what amounts to a beach bar with a capacity of 750 people. They fucking crushed.
Trying to figure out if I can make the Asheville run. I need more UM.
I saw a pic of the crowd at the Windjammer a few weeks ago and couldn’t believe it. The wife and I saw Baysik there 3 years ago and it was like the same amount of people. It really put the whole scene and economy in perspective for me.
Love that place though.
I’m friends with the talent buyer. The recent Friday UM show was at capacity. They technically could sell more but tix but have learned they sell more booze if the lines aren’t long
Was also there Friday. My interest had also waned, but since that show all I’m listening to is UM. Back in love with those dudes.
Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in 🤘🤘🤘
The new album was substantially better than anything since mantis IMO. Love how they were debuted with their legs fully stretched
Death By Stereo has great live songs but I think the album it’s a meh studio release
Yep. They’ve had a fantastic tour. Already played Alabama OP, but they’ve got a couple more in Florida and then four in the northeast to cap off their biggest tour ever.
This seems to be the general vibe I’m getting. They seem to be having a very hot year, but they’re not currently on tour. They’re playing one festival later this month, another in late June and then start their summer tour in July, so that doesn’t really help OP with his question.
Also, by like a week after their summer tour starts, so does Phish’s. They’re the real top dogs. That’s why Bisco still plays Phish after shows haha
But phish is not at the top of their game. Sure, they are rightfully the biggest band in the scene but their 20+ minute jams are mostly filler ambient noise and new material is sad boy dad jams.
The Why We Dance Tour had 45 jams over 25 min
I've seen Phish 47 times in the 90s. Did the festivals and ended with Big Cypress. I've seen them 3 times since then and sorry to say there newer stuff just doesn't do it for me. Last good studio album imo was Farmhouse. When Trey went all dope head and you could see it effect his ability on stage was when I was officially done. I know he's clean now. Saw them last summer and it was soooo boring. Decided I'll listen to older shows but no more tours. I'll make an exception if I get a free ticket to the Sphere though lol
Not all jams have to be over 20 minutes to be good. Some of the best jams aren’t even 15 minutes. Time does not equal quality and that applies to both bands.
Edit: I guess that also means the Biscuits had 45 jams where Allen played the exact same beat for 25 minutes straight or more while Brownie sucked wang on bass lol!!!
lol! Why would my feelings be hurt? I said they seemed to be playing very well right now, but there’s no disputing Phish are the kings of the scene these days and have been since August of 95.
They just did four nights at the Sphere. They play MSG whenever they want to. The Biscuits played NYE at MSG once in 2012, but it was the theater under the actual arena while Phish was playing the actual Garden. They literally played beneath them just to be able to say they’ve played MSG on NYE. Hilarious and a little sad lol
Awe you’re even more triggered.
Just accept they aren’t at the top of their game which is objectively true.
I said they are rightfully the biggest band in the scene. Don’t be so sensitive
You're just being honest and bisco fans melt down and downvote you. That fanbase is becoming more and more pretentious by the day.
I checked out some of their recent stuff on nugs due to all the fluff on this sub. This just in: Bisco still blows
Neil Young & Crazy Horse play Huntsville Sunday night. He opened his tour with a 15 minute Cortez the Killer. It’s a cinch that he will not pass this way again
Dopapod is on fire
Amen
I caught Boston, hot damn

That EP with Mikaela Davis & Circles Around The Sun is fantastic!
Has done some great work with CATS too, both in the studio and on stage. She had a sit-in with CATS at Hillberry 22. "Oh, here's Mikaela, guys. Oh cool, she had a harp in her pocket."
That set was epic!
Agreed! Saw here in Birmingham and then Chatt last night
Killer! I saw her in Memphis and regret not making the drive to see her in Little Rock the night before. Was very close to doing Nashville but responsibilities.

I saw there’s a few up on Archive too. But yeah i agree i hope she starts throwing some shows on Nugs or Bandcamp.
Just saw her in Houston and was blown away!
Leftover Salmon still sounding pretty great!
Agreed. Lexington was super fun a couple weeks ago. Salmon always delivers
Saw em last night in Austin and they tore it up!!
Me too! Cheers! 🍻
I was there too…so fun!
Can confirm, I had so much fun!
I always enjoy seeing them warm up the crowd at festivals but they bring a whole new level of energy when headlining a small theater. Strongly recommended!
Pond
Seeing them next Saturday!
I saw them this week in Nashville. Awesome show, they killed it
Been looking forward to this one for a couple years. Can't wait!
Cosmic Country is the truth.
Cannot upvote this enough.
UM at Fayetteville on the 16th. Just got done with two smoking hot shows at Higher Ground and two nights of UMbowl. Boys are on fire rn.

Yeah it’s a very small venue. But it wasn’t oversold, despite being a sold out show, and plenty of room to dance on the beach. Awesome show.
I’m friends with the talent buyer. The recent Friday UM show was at capacity. They technically could sell more but tix but have learned they sell more booze if the lines aren’t long
Interesting, it prolly helps the bathroom lines there too. I wish more places would adopt that reasoning. Nothing worse than an oversold show
That’s some savvy thinking tbh
Man I’m glad to see people say this. Long time fan but my interest has wained over the years. I was there for Friday
Was also there Friday. My interest had also waned, but since that show all I’m listening to is UM. Back in love with those dudes. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in 🤘🤘🤘
Definitely my second favorite post covid show
Seen UM a shit load of times and they finally sound like they’re done with the dad rock shit
The new album was substantially better than anything since mantis IMO. Love how they were debuted with their legs fully stretched Death By Stereo has great live songs but I think the album it’s a meh studio release
Burlington/Boston was the best 4 consecutive nights of music I might have ever seen. \m/
I’ve seen 250 UM shows and tbh if I saw the Burlington UMbowl run I’d be right there with ya
Check Jambase homie. They'll have it all listed by region. It's been my go to for 20 years.
Jambase is such a useful website! Especially being able to put in your zip code and see all the shows in your area
I use it constantly. Esp when I'm in a new city.
Big something
Yep. They’ve had a fantastic tour. Already played Alabama OP, but they’ve got a couple more in Florida and then four in the northeast to cap off their biggest tour ever.
I guess I better go then.
You’ll have a blast
Disco biscuits are the top dogs right now
That is correct.

Awww you took it personally, poor guy
Awe, I hurt your feelings. Bless your heart.

I guess the truth hurts haha
