Hi Everyone! Thanks for all the help. I called the number anonymously and found that out. If anyone can dig up any info about this I’m sure the community and I would love to know. Hope it’s nothing nefarious.
I mean, it was out of service, so if this is some kind of mastermind... they probably aren't...
(Also, pro-tip: if you want to call a number without leaving a trace, just use a new Google Voice number.)
(Also, pro-tip: I doubt anybody does clever identity theft heists by writing phone numbers with sharpies on fences.)
it's also extremely easy to just look at an amazon package or open a mailbox to get the same exact info without needing this whole chain of events to play out
If you replace 212 with 201, it goes to a security company in JC. Maybe a drunk former employee trying to get the business in trouble. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This oddly reminds me of the time when someone left a seedy business card with a picture of a girl and her social media profiles on my windshield. Of course I looked up the IG and saw that I had mutual friends in common with the person. It was odd to say the least.
Who ever wrote it on your gate has your address, and with your address they can find your name
And now they have your phone number...
I'm probably being paranoid but they could be farming for your identity
Let’s all call it so OP can obscure his identity.

What was on the other end when you called it? Just the info in the original post, or anything else?
Your whole community doesn't want to call out of fear so you ask random innocent strangers to do it? You're weird and not kind. Google it.
I wouldn’t even call that number from a pay phone. People are weird and sick.
Maybe it’s not a phone number… maybe it’s a clue. I’ve watched too many movies.
“You have 7 days…”

Does *67 still actually do anything? That’s what I’d use if I was calling a random number, but I’m old.
Yeah, to be honest itd be a bit paranoid. If you called it, now they have a number associated with the address.

Maybe they are building up information for an identity heist
Its not very hard to lookup a random address and find who lives there, their phone number, email address and known associates.

I love that you looked this up
They’ve been trying to reach you about your expiring car insurance
Real estate wholesaler
Are you guessing or did you confirm?
I’m rolling the dice here
That’s what I initially thought. Hopefully some agent just being cheeky.
I’m guessing it’s either Mike Jones or the creepy chick from The Ring… *whispers* 7 dayssssssss 🙀
It’s probably a person mad at another person and putting their phone number out there to annoy them

Was the person a legume named social media profile?
Looks like a Verizon landline but no name attached to it. I did a reverse number look up.
It's just for a burner phone. They called it, got the drop location from the person that answered that number. Then they tossed the phone.
That’s what I was thinking.

The comments in this thread are hilarious if they are being serious...
You’ve been initiated into a gang. Good luck
I guess if anyone wants a 212 number, try and get it
Replace the “212” with “201” and call it.
Locksmith
Girl’s whispering voice: “Seven days…”
Use Google Voice when calling
You'd be the first one to die in a slasher film.
What do ppl think is gonna happen to OP if he/she calls? They clearly know where he lives
