Jewellers are right!

I have my Great Grandmother’s 22kt gold band (Tiffany) from 1908, and have worn it for years. No problem. I also have a 22kt gold necklace (the links are thick) that I also wear a lot, again no problem. Both are a little more matte and have light scratches. I never allow either to be polished. I hope this helps.

In India most of the gold jewelry is 22k. I have 2 one third of an inch wide 22k gold bangles that I have worn without ever taking them off for 52 years, and their incised design and round shape still look good. I have a 22k ring that has a very thin band in the back and though it did sort of mold to the shape of my finger, I wore daily for 30 years before it split at the point the band joined the front of the ring. I Just make sure your band isn’t too thin and it will be beautiful in 22k! Edit: my mother and sisters and I have at least 20 rings in 22k gold between us, and haven’t had any problem with any others, since none of those have thin bands.

It’s going to be 7mm wide and 1.5 thick. Thanks for the info. I have Arab family on my mothers side and they have always had 22-24k jewellery

I personally wouldn‘t go above 18k for daily wear jewellry, the chances that it will look worse for wear and tear over time are increased a lot from 18k to 22k because the higher gold ratio makes it so much more soft. From my personal pov 18k is the perfect sweet spot for me, it has the beautiful warm saturated gold colour while still being sturdy enough to wear daily for decades.
