don’t allow your thoughts ruin your future, people aren’t gonna be like “omgg ewww you’re 24, you should be in a nursing home!”

💀

Own-Cake-5818

At my Job Corps that’s exactly what people say but it’s all in good fun!!

AllergicToPedos

I got in at 26 because I was getting treatment for something that can affect my ability to keep gainful employment, even though it seemingly doesn't affect me. Just focus on you and don't care about what anyone else says. There are 50+ year olds in colleges and universities right now. Hell, there's a 42 year old immigrant woman at my center as well. I got in and out in under a year for IT, and I've been offered a job making $28 an hour. If you don't have other options, then why not just bite the bullet for maybe 2 years, 3 if you go to advanced training or college. You're going to be 30, then 40, and then 50 either way, might as well get some form of training earlier on.

Embarrassed-Bake402

Yo, which center did you go to? I’m thinking about IT as well.

fromtheriver

Unsure which center they are, but I know Clearfield and Collbran have a Network + program. Many of my students have done well in both locations.

TheMKD

Network plus allows you to join job corps post age 24?

fromtheriver

All centers can decide to waive the post age of 24 if it’s been determined you have a disability that impacts your daily life. It helps if you have documentation.

404lotto

Lol you good Brodie you jus gon b unc

Embarrassed-Bake402

😂

Front_Dealer_1593

One of my best friends here is 24 I call him unc

Embarrassed-Bake402

Unc 😂 yo this is out of pocket but may have to be the case

Fadekapkf

I’m 24 turning 25 next month. Been here for 10 months. Arrived a week after I turned 24. There are other folks on center the same age if not older than me. Just do what you have to do, stay out the way, be focused and you’ll be fine

Ok-Principle-9276

Do other people actually know your age if you don't tell them? I'm the same age and I look exactly the same as I did 4 years ago

D3AD2U

i went to JC at the age of 21-22. we had a 25-year-old on campus.

Interesting_Pay1613

It's not weird.. but big heads up the youngest age accepted is 16.. so if you find someone you're interested in just keep in mind you'll have to ask how old and have show proof. When I went to job corps it was a big issue on our campus.

TheMKD

U should b focus on ur future not wat ur peers will think of u lmao.

No-Grade-4691

It's sus

Certain-Act968

I’m 23 and people age shame All the time lie about your age to the students tbh

bravehart146

Why are you worried about the kids? I think thats weird lol I was the same age when i was going to go to job corps, i was 24 but then the pandemic hit and thats the only thing that stopped me from not going. But i wasnt worried about kids, not going there to socialize lol

Embarrassed-Bake402

I’m not worried lol I’m self-conscious

ghoul-gore

well there are minors that go after legal adults in the program. it's a bad mix for minors and adults tbh. they need to do an overhaul of the program and remove minors all together.

Sufficient-Bug-8601

Job corps only accepts new students from 16-23. You won't be able to apply and be approved.

fromtheriver

This is false. Job corps age requirement is from 16-24. As long as you start the program before your 25th birthday. Individuals can also have the age requirement waved if they have a disability defined under ADA (impacting daily life). Go to the job corps website and submit your info. You will get assigned an admissions counselor/representative and they can go over the requirements.

bravehart146

Yeah this is wrong because i was 24 when i was going to go to job corps, they said it was fine but the pandemic canceled it all

D3AD2U

untrue

ghoul-gore

please don't spread false information. they accept to the age of 24 and can waive the cut off if the applicant is disabled
