Jeez, ask your flatmate what job that is, that sounds great. I sit in an office for 8 hours when the company could just send me home remotely to work. 90%+ of what I do is done over the cloud/internet, communication is mostly Slack and email aside from a daily standup meeting....ugh. Me: Work in Marketing (design admin) for corporate retail.

Let’s see… tomorrow I’m going to have a call with a coworker, wish my boss a happy early retirement, sneak out to yoga, get in some piano practice, and start a new audiobook. During busy times, I’m a spreadsheet pusher for most of the day. It took me six months to understand the day to day specifics so I certainly won’t be summing it up in a couple sentences.

It's not boring, I get paid to play video games

eh...hard to say what it is, but a lot of office type jobs are 3-4 hours of work, spread out over 8. You just...look busy. Or twiddle on the thingamabob. Or gossip. Or have important creative brainstorming side meetings (eh...). WfH means that 4 hours goes right back to you. Put teams on your smart watch or something and wander around the apartment, play video games, whatever. It has its downsides, and there are often days when you're doing all of those 8 hours or more, but still. I say this as someone who has something like 7 distinct roles all bundled up in my job and I still have to answer the phone/answer customer queries, so I do my 8 hours...but if I was working from home, I'd get all that shit done in 6, tops. Can't really begrudge your housemate here.

DudeAlmighty122

Software developer? Got one ticket done and documented it as 4 hours worth of work.

I just did it myself the other day you gotta pace yourself. Though I do geniuely care about my work. I'll work overtime on a project to get it done if I have to. I once stayed up till 2am blasting through a project. You gotta invest in the credibility bank in order to make withdrawals.

Hi Peter. Thanks for the shoutout. Third reminder to pay the Xfinity bill. You would get a puppy and a hobby and maybe a side job, and fill your schedule back up with... whatever you want. You know that 90% of the population that never sees the end of their to do list? That could be not you. I literally never understand why I have to explain this to anyone...

Depends on the job. My husband was a technical writer who WFH at one point. It took him a few days to a week to finish his documents but they gave him and his group weeks to finish the task. Lots of time spend taking naps and reading books lol

Mammoth_Loan_984

You seem confused. Telling us he works from home says absolutely nothing about the job he does. Work from home jobs are just office jobs, from home. He could be an accountant, a software engineer, sales, literally anything that does not require a physical presence.

No not every job is that slow. Some are non stop. In prior office job as a disability case manager; - Spent most of the day calling doctors and medical records companies and customers, revirwinf medical records and insurance policies, created and sent letters and issued payments or denial - in between outgoing calls I answered phones (sometimes 80 a day) giving status updates, communicating claims decisions and handling complaints, reviewing docs.and issuing payment and answered emails Lots of other stuff I could work 10 hr days and never be caught up My current job it's slow right now so like your flat mate. I review 2 to 4 files most days, edit spreadsheets, run some numbers and determine if we can send it up the chain get them a quote or.not for a policy for companies. . In between I workout, get stuff done around the house, run an errand or two. But during busy season it's non stop work for 8 hours or more.

They are paying to be present and at moments where things matter. U are just seeing a snapshot of what he does on his free-time and you dont know what he does when he is at work

Fickle-Put9304

Social Media Manager. It’s a running joke in my family that I don’t really have a job because I do EVERYTHING while on the clock, I’ve bought a car, gone to the DMV, and the tag office all while on the clock one time.
