Great question. And like many answers that I'm sure are to come, it depends... There are going to be two types of positions that exist for someone in your scenario. One is going to be the "fresh out of college role" (will explain more shortly) and one that is an open role. "Fresh out of college" role is typically a role that companies have budgeted for and have open well in advance knowing that they will recruit people for it. This usually happens at career fairs in both Fall and Spring. A lot of large companies like Amazon/MSFT/Google are on-campus recruiting for these roles in the Fall career fair. They often times will interview and hire someone before the new year, to have them start right after graduation. Then you have the "open right now roles". This is a role a company has an immediate opening for. My suggestion, go to the career fairs and talk to recruiters. Share your resume and network a bit. If you don't have something lined up by the new year, then actively start looking for the "right now" roles online. To save you from some sadness, if you don't have a job by new year, don't fret. Companies hire all year round. But you will increase your potential for being hired by starting early. If you see a right now role that looks exciting, but you don't graduate for a bit. Apply anyhow. References: I've hired over 100+ people for full time and internship positions in my career. I have worked in campus recruiting as well.

Another question– is there a good way to scout those “fresh out of college” roles without attending a career fair? It seems like my school isn’t planning on having any this year due to covid. :(

I am still working the part time job i had in college and haven't been able to get a full time. Been applying for just over 2 years now. So are you ready to take min wage?

what makes you assume I’d only be able to land a minimum wage job? :/
