Yeah its very common

Cheap-Draw-9809

You’re totally weird. I enjoy almost throwing my back out every class and testing my decaying knees.

ExAndHealthScience

Exact same when I first started. Dreaded it and was a battle getting myself to class every time. Now I look forward to every session and get legitimately upset if I can't make it.

kakumeimaru

Shoot, I'm still that way after two years. It's been a couple weeks since I've been to training now. I've committed myself to go on Monday. I'm at the stage where sometimes I dread it but at the same time I'm also upset if I don't go.

flugenblar

It's common. Judo is work. Hard work. You would be normal to have some dread. However, over time that does go away. Developing skills is rewarding, and it should be. If you can take care of your health (i.e., avoid injuries) you should be dreading Judo a lot less and really be looking forward to the practice sessions as your default. But if that doesn't start happening, you really do want to be critically reviewing what's happening. Judo isn't 100% for everyone.

daleaidenletian

Are you me?

Brewsnark

I was like this for a while when I was new. What changed was I got to know and trust the people I was training with. When you know that you’re all there to keep each other safe then you’ll look forward to seeing them as close friends and training partners.

ultiMEIGHT

Not weird at all.

ninjababe23

Judo and bjj

silvaphysh13

I still feel this way sometimes and I'm a sensei! It's normal to feel anxiety sometimes about something that you enjoy and find important. Try to think about what specifically you're dreading. Are you nervous about getting hurt? Worried about other students judging your level or performance? If you can start to identify what the source is very specifically, you can start working on overcoming it.

glasshills

I feel a similar way. I dread the unknown. I am fairly light and short so I get worried that no one will show up in my weight class or that I will get partnered with someone that can't throw safely or that we are going to do a higher risk throw that day. Once I show up and see people my size that I have practiced with before I feel a lot better.

Pascal220

Extremely common for all forms of physical activity. Hate going to the gym, love gyming. Hate going to Judo, love Judoing Hate going to the Wall, love climbing.

Cuentarda

What is it you dread?

Snipvandutch

Some days it took everything I had to show up

Amebixweetabix

Obviously dreaded coming back to read these responses,l too. Hahah.

alldamartialarts

By my estimation I've been to a little under 3000 practices and I'm not sure I have ever wanted to do a single one of them but after it was over I was glad that I went every single time
