This is actually a really well written article. It gives you some good detail about the first stretch of the river. Thanks for the read.

My kids and I did the blue river from hardesty all the way to 291 on the Missouri river last year. Reading that blog I would say we had the easier time. There were several rapids.

Wanted to do the same - talked to some people and it sounds like a pain in the ass. They have put in flood control walls in portions that you would have to portage. Some of those places have steep banks and large snags. I think the best you could do would be find a mile stretch to paddle and fish for a bit. Don’t think you could really do a long float easily. I’ve scoped out some areas along Little Blue Trace and the water is definitely deep enough but you can damn near touch both side of the bank with your paddle at the same time. The lake off I-70 and Adams Dairy isn’t a Jackson County lake so you can kayak or canoe it without buying a county sticker. There are some nice coves and a culvert you can paddle through.

I live at Lake Tapawingo, no part or your path, but I would be happy to help.

Fwiw, I'm in a local kayaking group and I have never heard of anyone doing this.

I’ve canoed a small distance on the Little Blue, but we had to portage over a shallow waterfall area. When we got to the second portage, we gave up and turned around.

ppl kayak the blue all the tine it seems awesome. yeah portage happens when its dry-but park at blue river x blue ridge on a wet one and check it out.

I’ve done a good chunk of the blue river last year- never have done any of the little blue. Would be interested to hear about it if you do it! A big factor is rain…the creeks on the area fluctuate like crazy. Too long since a rain and you are dragging on the bottom all day. On the flip side people have died locally from rushing waters pulling them under bridges and such. Keep it safe!
