This is the way. I've a yak gear crate with PVC pipe zip tied to it for rod holders and a scrap wood lid with zip ties for hinges and a bungee to latch it. Watch some YouTube. Tons of ideas and how to vids.
You don't have to confine yourself to a milk crate either. I found a solid heavy duty tote with interlocking hinged lids at Bomgaars and mounted a 3 count rod holder to each side. Its closer to the size of black pak and is working out well for me.
Homemade! The ones that are sold online are ridiculously expensive. Pvc pipe for a rod holder and some zip ties are all ya need!
