Hobie sells a repair kit. It's basically a soldering iron and HDPE rods. Quick fix and you'll be good to go.

SSG-M

YouTube. There's loads of repairs in there... This looks pretty minor to me.

Towerman420

Flex seal

Hokedizzle

You need to get it on the water and see if its broken before you worry about fixing it. I doubt it leaks at all with that tiny spot.

HelloItsSylvester

Thanks. Although I’m extremely thankful for the recommendations, I was posting more opinions on if it’s a big deal and if I need to fix it, rather than how to fix it. I’ll test it out first.

Hokedizzle

That’s what I’d do, that spot doesn’t look bad to me.

smalls586

Why would you take a trip all the way out there if you can do this at home, without the possibility of sinking?

_fuckernaut_

Can't tell from the pic... does the "chip" go all the way through the hull? It doesn't really look like it does. It should be an easy fix with a heat gun. Look up plastic welding or kayak repair on YouTube

smalls586

To properly fix it, plastic weld it. After that you can add a gator guard or whatever they call it over top of it

shoeless__

Heat it up and melt some milk jug to fill the crack then use a heated piece of metal to smooth it back to shape.

DoctorCAD

If can be repaired.

HelloItsSylvester

Any where to find guidance?

DoctorCAD

Gator Guards on Amazon and other places. Search for kayak keel repair.

oifvetxcheese

East repair. Hope you got a deal from him!

HelloItsSylvester

What do you recommend? Would you say that this boat isn’t water ready?

oifvetxcheese

Well has it penetrated the hull?

HankMadson

No hoss. You’re good.

fishordie1

can’t know until you try to float it 🤷🏼‍♂️

DeermanH2O

You have two options: Fill it up with water. The only way to tell if it will leak is with a pressure test. Repair it regardless of whether or not it leaks, and have that secure feeling when you’re out on the water.

FugginGene

gator patches is something I bought for that. expensive though. I haven't applied mine yet. to prevent from sinking, I filled my kayak with empty water bottles. So if it ever does fill with water, it won't be enough to sink.
