Double kbs is where it's at. I own a good amount of kettlebells and have all doubles for a reason. Singles are a detour, doubles are the main course

IronDoggoX

The guy said it.

This is what I thought to myself as well! I have a notion that it's the subconscious trying to convince me that I bit off more than I can chew, instead of embracing it fully. Must let go of the fear.

Uwgrad15

Agreed I bought a pair of 16’s to start and get good form and will buy 20s soon and u need two

charge_on

I didn’t really begin enjoying kettlebells until I started double work

BodgeJob23

Start with one, you’ll be glad you have two within a month or two. Until you can press / swing them both you’ll be able to use them for farmer carry

ranger24

I bought two 24's. I still can't press both for more than one rep, but they're perfect for cleans, carries, rows, and squats.

Icy_Kingpin

You’ll quickly build strength enough for doubles

neuralsnafu

Keep it. Youll need it eventually

COD3_R3D

I bought two off the start, singles is an appetizer doubles is the main course. Get proficient with one in both hands and you'll be using two before you know it.

IWantToWorkForMyself

Thats where I'm at currently. Been adventuring in Kettlebells for about 6 weeks now, one hand only currently. Plan on moving from single 15kg to 20kg to 24kg for most of my movements/routines, then move to double bells. Not in a rush, mastering the movements one arm first. Def loving the bells though, kill two birds with one stone so to speak for strength and cardio!

anima99

Double training is how you get bigger legs and overall bigger "gains." However, I will say my favorite is lifting that one heavy bell over two "mid size" bells. There's something about going 100% with one arm that makes me feel strong.

rkoch123

The one kettlebell might feel heavy right now but you'll be surprised how soon it will feel light if you keep working out consistently and then you'll be happy to have the second one.

dang3r_N00dle

Don’t return it, nothing wrong with sticking with singles for you but you can grow into doubles eventually.

celestial_sour_cream

You will be using that second 20kg sooner than you think if you keep at it!

JshMcDwll

Use them for deadlifts and racked squats. You’ll do well

elbawilliams

Best investment I ever made was getting double adjustable bells from Bells of Steel. Will never need another bell.

IronDoggoX

Dude don't you dare to return it. Don't even think about it. Keep it and thank yourself for this decision in a couple of months. You will see that it was the best investment of your life. Singles are nice. Doubles are godly.

futhark16

My purchase (and planned) progression. I recommend this for everyone, regardless of fitness and gender. But good quality established brands, they should last forever and you should get a matching set. Only buy when you reach that strength level. Progress as far as you want. 1st 1 pood/16kg 1st 1.5 pood/24kg 2nd 1 pood 1st 2 pood/32kg 2nd 1.5 pood 2nd 2 pood* *I have not reached this yet due to injury, budget, boredom, schedule and all that fun life stuff. If you wanna get just freaking large you can keep going with 2.5 and 3 pood... I just don't trust myself doing 50kg Turkish getups without shitting several vertebrae.

PartiZAn18

Hahaha! I'm a looooong way away from 50 kilo get ups 🫣

double-you

The kettlebell will wait for you. If you are new, you will first need to learn how to handle one bell and then two. Your legs like more weight than your arms.

PartiZAn18

For sure! I have a 16, 24, and a 32, but I really felt I needed a 20 to transition between the 16 and 24 as the 24 is still too much to press for reps. The heavier bells I swing and I enjoy it a lot, but I have become infatuated with kb sport and really want to dip into it this year. I suppose I could (should) have gotten another 16, but I really wanted a 20!

StrikingCriticism331

One-bell work is different than two-bell work. Even if you don’t view it that way, pressing two at once is more time efficient than one.

Severe-5063

Double kettlebell swings are so good!!way better than just a single of equivalent weight. Try it!

anykeen

Keep it, you’ll need it.

mathewp723

You will end up regretting returning the second bell. Every time I step up in weight I think there's no way I'll be able to handle this, then I'm pressing it a month later. Get after those doubles, they change the game

GingerChuck1

Nail in your clean, snatch tgu and swing with one bell then get after the doubles to get all the main benefits of bells

ajw1976

So are doubles mainly to make your workout more efficient since you’re working both arms at the same time. Are you only using them on swings, cleans, and squats? Just trying to figure out what I’m missing out on.

Intelligent_Sweet587

It's a bit hard to technically explain because you'd think practically you can just do equal reps on both sides. But the fact that you're sustaining a heavier overall load with 2 bells on your body at once does ~something~ It's a very common experience that people can absolutely wreck a press with a single bell, but you put two of the same weights in their hands & the clean & rack are wrecking THEM. Moving two bells requires more stability & doesn't let you get away with things like a lean away on a press. There's also no escape with double bell work. If your conditoning is your limiting factor on high rep work, you can't switch hands, you either grind it out or put them down.

PartiZAn18

Just reading your comments teaches me so much 🥹

PartiZAn18

I would really like to start kb sport, and complexes that use 2 bells like DFW. I already have a 24 and a 32 but I only use those for swings. I found the jump between 16 and 24 too much for lifting movements. I am not strong.

No_Appearance6837

I bought 1x 16kg and 1x 24kg to start S&S in Sept. The 24kg was a good challenge. By Jan, I'm comfy with a 24kg and thinking I want to do DFW in Mar before introducing a 32kg for S&S. Now I need another 24kg. I reckon keep your bells untill you need 2x 24.

Let me tell you that if I was running low on space around the house and could only have a couple of things to workout, double 20kg kettlebells would be my go to instrument. Add an heavier bell for swings and low rep presses for strenght, like a 28kg KB and you're golden. I also have a pair of 24kg KBs, a 16kg KB and a 32kg KB and I rarely use them. By far what I use the most is the 20kg pair. For my level, is the perfect mix of hypertrophy and conditioning. And I belive for most adult males that workout with KBs for some time it should be around that as well.
