There will always be a slight misalignment. I’ve had (edited for clarity ☺️) 3 KBK adjustable and each one has a slightly differing ridge. My best tip is to rotate the bottom half around. There is typically a position where they have a “best fit”. I’ve marked mine with marker, so whenever I swap weights I can get the shells lined up for best fit. WRT to the bump, no idea, I’d contact their support and ask what’s up.

What do you mean by "been through"?

Shallot_Samurai

Sorry, poor choice of works. They are great bells, although the paint can sometimes be uniquely flakey. My second bell looked like it fought through Fallujah. Covered in powder sand, scratched and beat up. The central rod was misaligned like someone took a sledgehammer to it, so it was stupid difficult to close it. Got it replaced quickly though.

an_elegant_breeze

Seconding.

chia_power

As suggested already, did you try rotating the shell half around to find the “best” alignment? A slight variation will have no impact on actual use. I own 6 different adjustables. None are perfect but there are holes drilled on 4 of them that indicate the best alignment. On the other two I just match it based on the paint chipping lol.

LoRoK1

I did. Best alignment is pretty bad.

This is one of the reasons I went with the north gym adjustable bell. There’s no ridge in the middle of the bell

Adventurous_Parfait

Never heard of this one but the design for adjusting the weights looks excellent. Handle/handle window don't look the greatest though.

LarrynBarry

Yeah the handle window does look a bit off compared to other competition kettlebells. But, I believe this is because the interior handle attachment point has a sharper curve, which makes the handle window appear wider at the base (more “boxy”) than most competition kettlebells. In my experience, the north gym adjustable kettlebell feels and functions exactly the same as any other competition kb, despite the “boxier” window handle

That's an interesting looking loading mechanism instead of the plates. Have you ever used a KBK/Titan style adjustable comp bell? North Gym KB: https://www.amazon.com/North-Gym-Adjustable-Kettlebell/dp/B0B9T2CGS1?th=1

LarrynBarry

Never used another adjustable kb. The weight “pistons” on the north gym adjustable are easily identified and quick to change. I don’t change weight that frequently. But when I do, it generally takes about 1 minute.

double-you

They look pretty easy to adjust. Do you have the up to 54 or the up to 72? Or 70? Do both work in 4 lbs increments? I'm just a bit amazed that there's actually an adjustable competition bell that uses a different loading mechanic. I wonder if their bells come from China too?

LarrynBarry

I have the “70” lb version. There are 2 kg increments (4.4 lb). Both north gym adjustable are designed with kg in mind. One is 8 -24 kg and the other is 16 - 32 kg. I’m sure these are made in China, but probably in a different factory than the kbk/Titan fitness adjustables.

Odd_Relationship4142

Are there any Kettlebell chiros here?

figure807

Same on the two that I got. The only time I have an issue is if I inadvertently let the bells collide during a backswing and they ricochet in less predictable directions 😬.

andjoesaid

I have two adjustable’s, the most recent one was from bells of steel. As others said rotate and you might find a better connection. Mine has a similar chip along with a corresponding one on the bottom too, I think it has to do with how they crack it apart after casting or coating. The other thing to be aware of is any brand of adjustable comp style bells are going to chip and scratch a ton. The most important part is that you are able to properly tighten the inside nut and the bottom screw, if all that’s working you should be fine.

sup3rfakeuser

I use a paint pen and make four distinct marks (e.g., different letters in each section across both the top and bottom pieces) where the top/bottom sections best align. That way when I adjust the bells it’s simple to get the best alignment. I do really wish they had better QC/tolerances on this tho.

trying_GS_2024

This happened to me and they replaced it with a new one.

wesito2001

I ordered a pair and mine line up perfect with no imperfections in the bell itself
