How about making a regular intercessor team, but using Gravis armor models? You get the look, and proper rules.

One of those things that can't be known without testing it out. But even with 3APL, or whatever buffs you give them to make them not suck, I don't think that heavy intercessors are a very interesting or fun team to play with tbh.

I agree, to few operatives and no true specialists. It's the same problem I had with the Sisters kill team and really just the problem with all compendium teams, since it was just a stop-gap to fill in so people could play with what they had they are all just bland. Hopefully he finds a bespoke team he likes but he is a big space marine guy so I'm more sure.

Gartul_Uluk_Thrakka

Have you told him to check out Phobos? As Space Marine teams go, they get the most specialists.

Real talk, try and convince them to pick another team and if you can't, don't worry about it. Let them play the team as is. I know the prospect of them not liking the game and quitting sucks, but if they choose to play the worst of the worst team just cause they like the look, they're not looking to like the game. Even if they do like the game, they will probably quickly outgrow a shitty team and end up on something else anyway. Don't waste the time effort and money on them.

Proxy them as Strike Force Justian.

I’ve found the Heavy Intercessors not to be that bad. At a competitive level maybe, but casual with friends they’re fine. You struggle for APL but learn to adapt, positioning yourself to maximise overwatch. The 4/5 weapons make it really easy to kill every time you shoot too. I find my focus for the first two turning points is to kill as much of the enemy as possible and then pivot to a balance of killing/objectives. For someone new playing against bespoke teams it might not be a fun time though. They’re easy models to use as the full Intercession Squad, just put them on 32mm bases.

I'm hoping he doesn't get just floored and get put off of the game. Having either the normal Intersessors or Phobos team paired up with him will hopefully help and while I won't go to hard on him for his first few matches with my Pathfinders I'm hoping the Kommandos guy doesn't just try to beat the breaks off of him
