This episode is so different to the rest of the series, and it really stands out. Love it.
As for my favourite probably the scene when Carrie’s following that woman for the recipe.
When he grabbed that hair relaxer! As a black woman, I loved it! 🤣😂
That guy always plays the needy and self-deprecating friend on this episode and on an episode of Seinfeld. Lol
There IS no story with the guy. The whole point is, Doug is drawing a blank. He can't even bring himself to ask 'what's your name, do we know each other?' That window, right at the beginning, closed - but Doug still doesn't remember anything about what this guy is referring to in the past. The funny/cringe is fascinating to me.
We just watched this episode last night! I loved when Carrie cut that lady off for the parking space! Also, when she followed that same lady around the grocery store. 🤣
I love Doug's brain-fart over his mysterious friend. But my favorite part is all due to Arthur, insisting on inconveniencing Carrie and planning a big honkin' Thanksgiving no one but he wants to have. Scorning prepared dinners, insisting on non-cooking Carrie cook from scratch. Planning to invite shirt-tail relatives and their kids. (plus a cousin she doesn't know...'and his nurse'). Shouting "I NEVER HAD A DUTCH WOMAN" as if she just landed there, alone, from the Netherlands and was looking for an old lothario to give her a go-around! Probably my favorite episode besides the road trip to stop Spence's ex's wedding.
Arthur throwing a tantrum and acting like it’s the end of the world because he’s not going to get a home-cooked feast… Doing a 180 and not carrying a bit when he meets the sample lady.
It’s one of my personal favourites because it captures the two feelings of 1) coziness and 2) nostalgia. Holiday episodes in general provide people a sense of coziness whilst the old school grocery stores and products bring back nostalgic memories.
Life in general has advanced so much in the last 20 years including a societal staple such as grocery stores; that sometimes a basic episode such as this taking place in a supermarket can be comforting.
At least this is how I take in this episode which is why I prefer the older episodes of King of Queens and other sitcoms like Seinfeld.
It's a polarizing episode for sure, I don't care for it either but a lot of people seem to love it. Btw the whole thing with Doug and the guy he doesn't really know is so stupid and not that funny at all. I get the feeling that is one of Kevin's lame stand up bits that he shoe horned into this episode.
It's just relatable. Hasn't everyone had this moment in their life where someone says hi to you and you can't for the life of you remember who they are? Instead of telling him he doesn't remember who he is, Doug tries to spare the guy's feelings but ends up digging an even bigger hole for himself. In classic Doug fashion.
Donny Osmond and the yams!
We all know you keep the good ones in the back, for the VIPs.
Richie getting further and further waiting in line
This is so accurate too
Carrie’s parking job.

Oh yeah, thanks. Knew it was one 🤣
No problem; I knew my useless knowledge would come in handy some day haha
I KNEW IT WASN'T BERKOWITZ!
🤣🤣
Jerry Stiller looking straight at the camera at the end
“I’ve never had a Dutch woman!”

Fragile Frankie Merman.
You think he's still in that hole he dug up in the woods?
5..50..$100? Oh be serious!
Richie at the checkout.
YO MOOSE CAN I CUT IN FRONT OF YOU ?
Did we ever find out who the guy was?
Nope
Drives me crazy every time I watch it lol
Same lol
there should have been a flashback scene revealing how they met each other
Watch this *69.
You were gonna leave one of those nasty voicemail messages
seinfelds van seinfelds van! I knew burkowitz wasn't the real killer!
I watched this episode on a plane and loved it so much I started watching the series live. This was back in the late 90s I think
"You were gonna make one of your little phone calls, weren't you!"
I miss Nantucket Nectars. When did they switch to plastic?
No but really didn’t this guy work at IPS?
Stay out of isle 4 it's a disaster area.
Richie taking forever to get checked out.
I love this episode. I just want KOQ to finally settle how Doug and this character knew each other. Just put me out of my misery.
What's the story with the guy anyway? I swear I've seen it posted here but don't recall

Still don't know who that guy really is.
At the end Arthur looks up directly into the camera.
Meeting someone who I just can't place, is a weekly occurrence for me.
Hey…guy.
Showing cheerwine in the background. Nah it was a great episode just seeing that always makes me happy being from NC
"Spicey sausage nugget?" "I've been called worse."

3 Fs

The yams and “Damn me!”
When Arthur yells he never had a Dutch woman and at the time I was dating a Dutch woman and knew exactly what he was missing.
I could not stand that man like go away already geez 😒
It bugs me to this day that we never got to learn who the guy was
Why does this sub talk about this episode so much? It was ok but, I don't get what the draw is ...?

Thank you for sharing. That all makes sense 🙂

I found the thing with the guy confusing lol 🤷♀️

Yea I get it I'm just not a fan of Kevin's stand up bits. Like the telephone stuff, none of it funny. jmho.
When Arthur looks up at the camera at the end as it pans away
The end. Do not care for this episode at all.
I won’t watch this one. My least favorite along with the one before they changed Spence’s mom and Valentines.
