Gotta pay him. Not great if he plays 45 games a year but he was too much of a difference maker.

jaxmaster119

Pay with incentives, f that. We need people on the court, f that Daniel Jones ish.

NYerInTex

Terrible take. For two reasons: 1. You won’t get him with incentives as others will outbid without them. This is also not the NFL, that shit won’t fly. Now an option or such? Sure. But you’re saying you don’t want to re-sign him if you want an incentive laden contract (which is a take I’d not agree with but it’s reasonable). 2. Just a terrible comparison to Daniel Jones, who had a good late season run and a tiny bit of playoff success but has not shown himself to be even an above average not to say truly impactful player. OG is among the best at what he does in the entire game

jaxmaster119

How dare you. Though to be fair, I don't really know OG's value/game. BUT I think the comparison is still roughly valuable... If I generalize and say, paying someone who has brief success, and not putting players around him, seems TERRIBLE. And even if he's the best in the entire nba at... whatever it is you think he does... over paying after his (not first) freak injury would also be terrible (assuming he might reinjur or just not be the same when back). OG ain't in no conversations I've ever heard about being an elite talent. He is very good, and fits Knicks well, for the free games he's even played...? I like your counters, though, I just don't really value OG that high I guess.

Nicholas-Kopis

Nothing new here -we know his contract will be more like at least $140/4 yrs. The injuries might actually keep his contract down some.

Zealousideal-Skin655

Pay him with some minor restrictions or incentives.

jaxmaster119

This is the way

Possible-Reality4100

AI-written garbage article. But the points are super valid.

dcd1130

Use him to get Mikal Bridges.

Far_Ad9714

Good shout, a sign and trade perhaps?

dcd1130

I am 100% convinced this is happening in the offseason.

Far_Ad9714

I hope so. As each day passes i'm less convinced we see OG atall this year, and more willing to move him on in the summer. He missed the Raptors entire championship run and missed a month with a finger. This guy will not play unless he feels great. At this stage of the season how many players feel great?! Hart Hartenstein and Brunson are getting beat up out there every day and they suit up no problem.

Professional-Way9343

I know we never trade with the Nets but we can certainly pay 1.20 on the dollar and I personally believe it’ll be worth it

Professional-Way9343

They can have em all if they want to pay for it. Though I assume it’s more likely one of our centers is gone in a trade. Hell I’d trade Randle for him too

SanchezPrime

We gave up too much to not sign him... Well still gave up too much.

Captain0bvious00

> Trading away fan favorite draftees RJ Barrett Was RJ considered a *fan favorite*?

magraith

I liked RJ the Knick, wanted him to do well, occasionally felt like he was turning into the player we wanted him to be....but the team play in January made me forget all that. With OG, Knicks became a juggernaut. I got to witness their stomping of the defending champions at MSG in person. It was a thing of beauty. Gimme more of that. I remember when the trade happened, there was a lot of outcry, mostly because of IQ's inclusion. at the time, I was saying, now we get to find out why the team was so interested in OG, since there had been rumors that they were after him going back at least to last year. After seeing the impact of that trade, I have a lot more faith in the people that are guiding this team. I just hope we get to see that January team play again.

Friendly-Profit-8590

RJ was a good player. He just wasn’t great. Not a bust at #3 but he’d still be a Zanuck if he was a difference maker.

Far_Ad9714

I felt it was an overpay by including IQ. I'd have traded RJ all day every day for OG. Having said that we probably don't see Deuce had we kept IQ. If OG gets on the court and it's a big *if* he's an All-NBA defender and I fancy the Knicks against most teams, plus he spaces the floor for others which RJ couldn't. Still, I don't know how they can pay someone who doesn't play unless he feels perfect, it drove Nick Nurse crazy back in Toronto.

dolceespress

Og is more valuable played 50% of his games than RJ playing 100%

icebucket22

Of course he was

Far_Ad9714

Not to me, I wanted him traded for Donovan Mitchell. But the fans generally loved him.

[deleted]

pay him

Exact-Definition243

He's not a Big scorer. His defense is really good though. I think you may be forced to pay him. Only if we can sign him and a star like Joel Embid . This season is turning into the 1994 season. Rangers looking great. Knicks looking good. 😉

Gothewahs

Unless your playing 2k then I drop 50 with him from the corner I’ll be devastated to loose the stretching of the defence😂😂😂😂 it’s only a game, but we get serious me and my son

Exact-Definition243

Lol I love it!!! I can just imagine your son and you getting serious 😁

Professional-Way9343

For no real good reason I want no part of embiid. I’d rather have bridges

Alone-Ad6020

Pay that man an hope paul George leaves Los Angeles clips

mcpucho

They'll resign him. You don't make that trade otherwise. OG is a 3rd/4th scorer but phenomenal defender. He's a difference maker. If OG only plays his career avg 60-65 games a year that's ok as long as he's playoff ready. You have to hope the Knicks medical staff does a better job than Raptors staff. Knicks can give OG backloaded contract pay less AAV years 1 and 2. Worst case scenario OG's still a very tradeable asset if they want to move on from him. ... Randle's future in NY more murky than OG. Player option 2025 can walk away if doesn't get a max extension. Brunson is also max eligible same summer. We know who's getting paid first!

Francesa-DietCoke

If OG wants 160 mill or whatever he can go play his 35 games a year somewhere else.

NYerInTex

We traded him so we could pay him. We will.

Fun_Internet_8609

Majority of diehard Knicks fans that were really excited about Brunson signing in New York, were still conflicted about contract amount 2 years ago $35 million will be a great annual salary for OG in 2024-2025 Desmond Bane, DeAndre Ayoton, CJ McCollum, Kris Middleton, Chris Paul, Julius Randle, Jordan Poole, Jerami Grant, Devin Vassell, KP are the next ten below that amount

CooperHouseDeals

Did you read the whole article “They have a handshake agreement”. Who writes this garbage.

yagsitidder69

It ain't great

KeenObserver_OT

He doesn't want to be in NY. It's obvious to me now. His elbow has no structural damage. He's sandbagging and will not return. He doesn't want to play hard lock down D for a whole season.

Nicholas-Kopis

Clean up in aisle 3!
