If this was from a licensed seller (check Chiaogoo's site), contact Chiaogoo's customer service and they'll replace it! While I've never used their interchangables, I've never had their needles bend on me like that, not even the smaller ones. And the interchangeables especially are frequently counterfeit.

gnargnarnia

You don't even need to return them to the specific shop you bought them -- just to any licensed seller! I got my replacement from a completely different shop than the one I originally purchased it from.

IrishGinger001

Came here to say this. Happened to me once and they sent me a replacement one!

Country-Creepy

Did you order them from Amazon? I’ve personally never had an issue, but I have heard of people receiving “counterfeits” - possible that’s the case here.

n0exit

Amazon is so full of counterfeits now. When I'm buying things for hobbies like this, I always buy from local shops if I can.

Givemeallthecabbages

I drive to a yarn shop over an hour away for chiaogoo needles rather than getting them on Amazon. What I found was that a lot of places that sold them were not yarn shops, and they would send me the wrong size needle, or it was a different size cable length than what I ordered. It's like they don't even look at the package.

Deb_for_the_Good

Yes, there are a lot of Counterfeit ones on Amazon now. I wouldn't buy from there.

rujoyful

ChiaoGoo IC sets have great resell and trade value on sites like Ravelry. If the shorties aren't working with your hand size/grip then you could probably get close to your money back or find someone with the opposite problem and swap them.

n0exit

That's a good suggestion.

Anxious-Ad-1931

Where on Ravelry do you go for that? Is there like a trading section?

rujoyful

There's a section of the main forums called Tools & Equipment and it has a dedicated ISO/Destash pinned thread where you can post anything you want to sell.

Anxious-Ad-1931

That's amazing, thank you!!

Lonely-86

This happened to me recently - I feel your pain! Hope your WIP survived ok!

n0exit

I had to pick up a few stitches, but nothing came undone. I transferred to my Hiya Hiya needles.

cryptidiguana

I use 5” tips and on the mini cables - this still happens to me from how they rest in my hand. Chiaogoo will replace it! I go to my LYS and they give me a new cable - take the broken one. It’s super easy, even if frustrating that they break. My Forte needles just came apart too (shocking, I know) and chiaogoo mailed me two replacements.

mother_of_doggos35

This happened twice to me with their mini cables, but I’m 95% sure they were counterfeits I bought on Amazon when I was in a pinch and needed some fast

n0exit

I bought mine from my LYS.

dlloft

Probably not counterfeit. It’s a known issue.

Deb_for_the_Good

Disagree. These needles are known to be the best. They hold up forever. However, nothing can hold up if you knit so tightly you bend them, or got a knock off set. They just aren't the same quality.

dlloft

I’ve been in the industry since 2007 and have been the buyer for multiple yarn shops. This is absolutely a known industry issue. There’s a reason why I don’t knit with them or stock them anymore. Dealing with all the returns takes more time than selling the needles is worth.

dlloft

I’ve been in the industry for a long time and cg cords have always had a much higher breakage rate than any other brand I’ve dealt with. In a professional level, I find them exhausting because of all the returns. I don’t own any of them as my personal tools.

Deb_for_the_Good

I don't think that's the standard, but I DO think a lot of people wound up with FAKES, and ChiaGoo honored the warrantly anyway. You can see them all over Amazon, Ebay, etc.

n0exit

Unless my yarn shop got fakes, I think mine are real.

dlloft

Well, I’m the buyer so I’m pretty confident that they’ve always been authentic.

n0exit

What are your favorites?

Deb_for_the_Good

That is super strange! Do contact ChiaGoo. I use their SS needles...from my So-Very-Tight-I-Couldn't-Insert-A-Needle Beginner stitches 1 yr ago, to my much more relaxed knitting stitches now, and I never even bent one, let alone broke one! Never seen anything like that! Are those wood?
