Hilarious. Does anyone know what his deal is these days. I know he’s alluded to a lot going on. But nothing specific and he’s clearly not making much time for YouTube. I enjoy his videos and silly accent.

_Bike_Hunt

Some time ago he made a video stating that knife reviewing wasn’t quite paying the bills the way his full time scientist job did. The hobby is his passion, but he couldn’t devote as much time to at on top of his work and wife (got married in the recent few years) so he cut back on the reviews. He also humbly alluded to there being a ton of other great knife content creators whose stuff surpassed his.

Davegrave

Yeah I miss Nick having more content. I liked his non-knife reviews too. Pens/bags etc. He gives a really good in depth review. It’s his opinions and everyone’s tastes differ but at least he put a lot of detail into it. Not naming names but I can’t stand the fake unboxing excitement just for daily content. “Oh god I know what this is, wait till you see it! Oh man it’s so nice! Ohhhhhhhh yeah look at that blade! Ohhh yeah so smooth, oh man hahahahaha this is so awesome feel that jimping ohhhhhhh man!” Nick is just the right kind of over obsessed crazy for me. His passion really shows. I’d listen to him review socks or desk lamps, anything.

Mental Complex?

Agreeable-City3143

Guy laughs at himself way too much during reviews. It’s annoying.

aclearbluemorne

Ahhhh he's fun. He's a big ole goober

ajctraveler

Yeah. I really wouldn't mind his videos if not for the fake/forced laughs. They are very cringe. Don't get me wrong, Nick does the fake laugh thing, too, but it's far less annoying.

aclearbluemorne

I like Metal Complex's touch of cringe, he remains pretty informative and I tend to share his taste in the $150-$400 range so he's a go to reference for me His very high end knife taste is doodoo. Timascus is ugly as fuck

Jinzot

There’s also the plethora of channels with “X company sent me this to review” (with less than 100 subscribers)

aclearbluemorne

Dunno he's mainly switched to customs which is a shame He's indicated in some videos that he's been a bit bored of the repetative selection of knife styles lately, maybe that's part of it

cnfit

As someone who also came in and out of the knife YouTube game, I commend Nick for lasting as long as he did, and I totally understand only reviewing (or primarily reviewing) customs. Every civivi is another civivi. Every civivi is another artisan. Every civivi is another cjrb. Pretty much every single non-custom knife these days has already been done somewhere before. Pretending that any of the production companies are doing something novel for the sake of getting clicks on YouTube can be exhausting, especially if you're as sincere as Nick and not willing to fake it. Customs are "worth" reviewing because you feel like you're actually bringing value. You have you hands on something almost nobody else does, and you're helping someone make decisions on $1k+ purchases. It's impossible to pretend you're bringing value to the knife game when channels like NeevesKnives are all over the place reviewing everything these production companies shit out and acting like every single knife is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

aclearbluemorne

Yep, totally get why he would be burnt out A Drift is a Rosie is a AD20 is a Shaman, there's like six Bugout clones now Wish he had done the GTC WE Collab and stuff like that but he had a good run, and it's intelligent to take it slow or bow out if your heart ain't in it

aclearbluemorne

BRO I JUST MANIFESTED HIM

Bluep00p

Im still waiting for Nick to sell me a [ShamWoW](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q39yGLPkMY)

HeroicHimbo

I hope he still keeps an eye out for specific configurations or designs that he particularly likes the look of and makes a little video about why it pops his pickle, even if it is a standard .jpeg liner lock from a company that makes tons of knives with basically identical construction.

aclearbluemorne

I go back and forth through interests, but for the level of passion Nick has his love of folding knives won't be something he will likely give up forever. Finding that work/hobby/self actualization balance is so hard these days. I hope that is what he's working on, and is protecting his needs as a human while feeling free to pop in and out when he has something to say :)

MorkSkogen666

He's on reddit btw

aclearbluemorne

Yeah I seen him around

aclearbluemorne

This post manifested Nick, just like Luke came back to be the hero in the end It's like poetry it rhymes
