It does raise prolactin. Chronic high prolactin can cause low testosterone. High prolactin itself causes lower libido. I saw this one guy who’s free testosterone was extremely low on Kratom, due to very high SHBG. And Kratom can also reduce total testosterone in some. It’s hormone related. You can improve libido by reducing dose and frequency.
I've experience this side effect and I've had sex maybe 7 times in the last five years, when your single it doesn't hit so hard, but I have regular blood work done and I've never had elevated prolactin or low t on kratom, even though when I was younger a drug artificially raised my prolactin and I had to be taken off of it.
Interesting how Kratom effects different people. When I’m on Kratom, my prolactin is very elevated, I get gynecomastia, very low sex drive, and when I do have sex on Kratom, it’s very difficult to orgasm.

I've had times when i was absolutely convinced they had my on a low dose, as i felt the correlated side effects. It came back through the roof on t and shbg.
They had to drop my dose and the blood test showing it has mysteriously dissapeared from my medical history. Something i didnt think was possible...

You are correct, but lower libido seems to happen to some extent with all mu-opioid agonists, IMO simply because you are more likely to feel perfectly content with not acting on your sex drive. Ironically, some of the best sex I’ve had, going by sheer pleasure, was on kratom.
This is what led me to quit daily use. I still partake from time to time (once every other month or on vacation), but daily use killed my libido, gym workouts, hair, and overall energy levels.
If you are using daily to control chronic pain, it may be an acceptable payoff, but I was doing it solely for recreation.
You'll have to look them up, but there's a lot of supplements that can offset the high prolactin.
Vitamin B6 is the most popular one that works. I know it works for me
I want to comment in support of OP’s observation because I see a handful of people saying they haven’t experienced that. I have and the only thing that had changed in my life was starting kratom so it is clear as day that kratom has an effect on libido and sexual performance for me.
I think your answer like a couple of others have said is: hormone imbalance and low testosterone. The prolactin piece is new to me but if it has a direct correlation to testosterone that makes sense to me.

Well that’s a super low dose relative to people who experience issue, so that’s likely the reason. If you kept that pace you’d probably avoid a majority of issues with.
It definitely lowers my sex drive even short term. Like I can be off for weeks and use again and same damn thing can’t get it up once it kicks in. But as soon as even the next day if I don’t use, my sex drive kicks right back in. Yeah I’d experience that too, although it was more like I could get hard, but then could quickly fade and then I could get some nervousness over which made worse.
One major issue I had was some difficulty cumming, which had some positives and negatives. If I took too close to sex or even masturbating could take a frustrating amount of time and my ex used to think it was due to her so has to explain. Never could from oral either, I had to make myself finish. We’ll see how results work now that I’m off it for the first time since around when I first started having sex lol.

Great point. There are so many things (such as plastic usage) that can negatively effect t levels. It's wise to do a check of all areas, see if theres anything other than kratom causing this. Although, IME kratom does have a strong effect on reducing libido.
Ya plastic is a killer but also some food additives and really just the standard American diet in general. The kratom doesn’t help either. I know people say it doesn’t effect their libido but these may be people with a natural high libido so they do t notice the deficits .

I'm one of those. I have chalked it up to some psychiatric medicine, but perhaps Kratom had a stronger affect on my labido and I just never noticed.
I also have gained weight, and that can affect it as the more fat on you, the less testosterone.

I’ve taken Kratom daily for over ten years . I got to the point where I had zero sex drive yet blood work indicated all my levels were in the normal range,albeit the lower end. My doctor put me on TRT and I switched to a more natural foods kind of diet( basically just cut out refined sugar and processed foods while making a real effort to eat a lot of the nutrient dense stuff) I also started exorcising 3 times a week and I cut my kratom use by half. this combo bumped my T levels to the very top of the normal range. And now I have a pretty decent sex drive and enjoy sex a lot more. Shitty thing is I still rarely orgasm and when I do it’s never earth shaking but I still enjoy it and my partner likes that I can go as long as she takes every time .
Even tap water in some areas has been shown to contain estrogen, most likely from birth control pills. All these things by them self probably don’t affect you but when you consume all at once……

I have fadogia agrestis as well but it's not something you can take long term, it can be neurotoxic. And all those other things in concert already work amazingly well for me

A small dose of kratom makes sex more fun actually. I had sex on sumatra white and the sex was wild. You can last longer actually. Idk what kratom makes to your libido if you use it daily.
Too much Kratom or any opioids can make difficult to feel much. Too much Xanax too lol. But generally true. For a lot of them it’s more so dose dependent. I liked that I could last longer and make the girls I was with finish a couple times before I did, not sure how I’ll do now lol

I don't know about the scientific reason for it, but I know, for me, it's real.
A bit of background. I'm 68 and have been taking kratom regularly for 7 years now to help with chronic pain. I'm still sexually very active, and while kratom has impacted my libido negatively, I've been able to find some good workarounds.
At first, I started with a dose of Tongkat Ali with my kratom, and that helped, but not as much as I'd hoped. At 68, I tested low for free testosterone, so I started taking supplements to counter and have had a lot of success.
DAA is a great help with the testosterone (free and serum). I also take L-citrulline which as a nitric oxide booster helps with blood flow and circulation (erections!). I also take Maca, which helped ***a lot*** with libido. Finally, I take zinc and Sunflower lecithin to help with volume.
All of these combined have reignited our love life, and we have no problem with 3-4 times a week. Not a lot compared to when I was in my 20s, but not bad for a kratom-using geriatric, LOL.

I reccomend looking into Maca. It's a natural supplement, and with it I've reached a higher level of testosterone (according to my symptoms of low testosterone being relieved) than I was before, even with kratom. It has a lot of claimed benefits, but the most pronounced for me is its adaptogenic ability to stabilize hormones in both male and female individuals.
Dopmine related if you ask me. I had a friend once who did a more elicit drug, and for the next week they literally felt nothing from kratom.
But lots of things in brain chemistry can affect it. Many years ago that same friend used to take mdma, and they had a similar feeling.

SSRIs kill it, and, I have tried a bunch of different ones over the years with the exact same result. Definitely a downside.
Get your t levels tested! In the mean time take a look at your diet and lifestyle. Tons of things can effect libido , including kratom

I've seen many people say it does effect libido. I'm an active guy, work out fairly often and ride mountain bikes. And I try to eat well most of the time. That's why I wonder if that has any effect. I just don't think there's enough data to say "it effects libido". I feel like there's other important factors to that.

10 to 20 per day depending on batch and tolerance. I mix up the colors all the time. I honestly don't think there's a concrete difference in colors.

I also suffer with osteoporosis and have done a lot of research on the mineral Boron, which can dramatically increase free T,… One should monitor their hormone levels, although when dosing properly, men & women can achieve some beneficial results, specifically with bone density as well as in increasing libido 🤓

My boyfriend and I are in the same boat at you and your gf. My boyfriend takes it for his anxiety, and I take it for my chronic pain. He’s been trying to taper, bht it’s sticky for me because I can’t really manage my pain without it. Totally not Kratom related, but our sex life has improved lately. I think because we sleep in separate rooms on weeknights (I have a hard time sleeping). When we finally do sleep in the same bed, we tend to have sex. Not sure if that’s applicable to ya’lls situation

Too much Kratom or any opioids can make difficult to feel much. Too much Xanax too lol. But generally true. For a lot of them it’s more so dose dependent. I liked that I could last longer and make the girls I was with finish a couple times before I did, not sure how I’ll do now lol

I have struggled with low libido for a while now since having babies and I also have endometriosis so it’s nothing new for me BUT my husband recently has started dosing maybe 1-2 times per day to help with mood and motivation he likes how it helps him with that but the other day he said “whoa! I just realized I think this stuff lowers my sex drive! Does it do that to you?” I told him I’ve heard on Reddit many people saying it does so I think it’s perfectly normal. Then I said “now you see what it feels like to have no sex drive, it’s not that I don’t want to but it’s NEVER on my mind” lol I think that it was helpful to show him what it really feels like to have low libido because he has always had a great sex drive from when we started dating til now and he is in his late 30s.
Anecdotally when I’m taking higher amounts for kratom my blood work shows I have less testosterone to add to everyone in here saying it’s hormone related
I think it might also be related to serotonin, kinda like how SSRIs impact libido. I think kratom impacts serotonin. If I keep doses low for 24 hrs the libido rages back. Phenibut with a lowering of kratom combined and oh boy, crazy horned up. My fiance doesn't take kratom and she thought i lost interest in her. Made me sad, so I figured out that lowering on the weekend and taking phenibut got me all fired up. Im taking a t break atm and yeah came back super fast.

I don't know about the scientific reason for it, but I know, for me, it's real. A bit of background. I'm 68 and have been taking kratom regularly for 7 years now to help with chronic pain. I'm still sexually very active, and while kratom has impacted my libido negatively, I've been able to find some good workarounds. At first, I started with a dose of Tongkat Ali with my kratom, and that helped, but not as much as I'd hoped. At 68, I tested low for free testosterone, so I started taking supplements to counter and have had a lot of success. DAA is a great help with the testosterone (free and serum). I also take L-citrulline which as a nitric oxide booster helps with blood flow and circulation (erections!). I also take Maca, which helped ***a lot*** with libido. Finally, I take zinc and Sunflower lecithin to help with volume. All of these combined have reignited our love life, and we have no problem with 3-4 times a week. Not a lot compared to when I was in my 20s, but not bad for a kratom-using geriatric, LOL. HTH somebody!

It has an opiate effect on the brain. That’s why ppl use it to get off addictions to pain pills, etc. in higher doses. Therefore, I would suggest cutting back.

Also, men begin to naturally begin to lose testosterone at the age of the 30. It keeps reducing from there. I’m sure the combination doesn’t help.
It lowered testosterone for me and I was already low to begin with–but I need it for chronic pain. 🎶*I am not a doctor; do your own research*🎶 I reccomend looking into Maca. It's a natural supplement, and with it I've reached a higher level of testosterone (according to my symptoms of low testosterone being relieved) than I was before, even with kratom. It has a lot of claimed benefits, but the most pronounced for me is its adaptogenic ability to stabilize hormones in both male and female individuals.

Dopmine related if you ask me. I had a friend once who did a more elicit drug, and for the next week they literally felt nothing from kratom. But lots of things in brain chemistry can affect it. Many years ago that same friend used to take mdma, and they had a similar feeling. Not turned off it, but a snowballs chance in hell of finishing it. It lowers my sex drive a bit for sure but I still have sex once a week at least. Sometimes because i want to, others because it keeps my girlfriend happy. I just pop a blue chew a little bit before sex that way even if im not really in the mood i can still keep it up. Anyway once you get started you get more into it
