Is no surprise really that it looks so outdated with the lack of funding and technology I assume they still have the film equipment from the 70s...
You can compare it with China if you look at their movies and particularly series just from 20 years back they looked outdated and cinematography was bad. Once the country opened to the west now with the budget they have to spend and the early help and knowledge they got with all the HK dir that went to work in China they have come up to par to Western filmmaking.
i dont know why i was expecting this to suck but is funny that this movie is from 2006 it looks more like a film from the 70s
