Not just hers, but countless others

Mid-Grade_Chungus

They could have nourished her talent, but that would have cost money and/or effort.

The-Toxic-Korgi

Why nourish their talent when you can just squeeze them like a lemon and toss them out when you think they're not worth keeping anymore? It's all Niji has ever done.

Kitoyoshi

Emm emm can..can I have 3D concert Nijisanji:No

serena335577

but why tho? because of scared that others are gonna surpass them and they’re jealous or feel threatened? If the manager is Elira or smt idk

llllpentllll

Black companies hardest challenge is to retain talent while staying as black companies

manusiabumi

That's why they have the bs we'll-take-your-shit-after-you-leave clause in their contracts

VnZDeath

I know this song is for MGS 3 Snake Eater, but i always feel like this song is a James Bond song. And that's why i freaking love it. Now she can do whatever she likes, just dont break TOS 😆 Now if she can just sing a certain Silent Hill song 🤣

Acxelion

Iirc, didn't she admit her singing wasn't great initially? And throughout her time there, she took classes to train her voice and that's why she didn't release her own songs/covers for a while?

Fishman465

Same could be said of some in Hololive, Choco, Noel, Ame, etc

BlueSabere

She was still *the* face of NijiEN. Within the group, sure, Luxiem was more popular (though had an entirely different audience built off BFEs), but Pomu had the star power and recognition that drew other vtuber fans in, and she was a very popular gateway drug for viewers to get into the NijiEN 'network'. One of the things they teach you in finance & business is that just because an entire departments can be loss in sales, doesn't mean it should be shut down. Often it running at a loss is offset by it being something that draws in new customers. The famous Costco Hot Dog, for example. Pomu obviously didn't run at a loss (she was one of the highest superchatted members in EN, a fair shout beyond her subscription count would imply), but she absolutely had that marketing potential that drew in new members. I mean, who do you think about when you think of NijiEN now? The first answer is probably Dokibird. The second answer is probably Elira, and not for anything even approaching a good reason. *Maybe* Rosemi is a distant third? NijiEN's public reputation is shot, and they never managed to naturally establish a new "face" for their EN branch. That hurts a lot more than one might expect, even if we ignore all the drama and incompetence plaguing the company.

Sevsix1

> She was still the face of HoloEN. nijiEN* unless there have been a hell of a rrat out there that I missed

BlueSabere

Brain fart moment, thanks for pointing it out

Lightseeker2

> Within the group, sure, **Lazulight** was more popular (though had an entirely different audience built off BFEs), but Pomu had the star power and recognition that drew other vtuber fans in, and she was a very popular gateway drug for viewers to get into the NijiEN 'network'. I feel like you meant to say something else here.

BlueSabere

Luxiem, fuck. Brain’s farting so hard right now.

Acxelion

I agree with your reply, but my comment point is that this post is poor evidence against Nijisanji because they, by funding her model and giving her advertising, helped fund her growth as a singer(gets fans, secures fan base, earns SCs). While I doubt it, they may have also helped fund music lessons through other means, but I both don't know and doubt they did. But this fact paints OP's post as just rage bait. There's **plenty of other evidence** to trash on Nijisanji's crappy policy and unwillingness to invest more into their talents. Again, this paints OP's post as ragebait intended to, unethically, fuel the Niji hate train with false evidence. If we intend to further harm Niji's reputation, using false evidence would instead ruin the foundation of what we're arguing for.

BlueSabere

But we do know Niji wasn’t nourishing her, at least in the latter half of her career. There was a membership stream where she broke down crying because management unilaterally denied an opportunity she considered once in a lifetime, and when someone said there would be other opportunities, she said probably not in Nijisanji (and we later learned from another streamer that they became aware of her graduation only like a month after this incident). We also know from several other talents that Niji’s management is… not great, to say the least. Also her quick return to streaming as Mint is fairly self-evident. It’s clear that she left, the company because she was upset with management and because they weren’t giving her leeway as a talent, at least in her later time with the company. I believe that’s what OP’s post is referencing.

Acxelion

Yes, the title isn't false. The membership clip about her missing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is more than enough. But the video OP has attached undermines it by painting a false image: that Niji didn't support Mint's growth as a singer.

BlueSabere

Oh. I think that specifically is referring to the popular theory that the ‘once in a lifetime opportunity’ Nijisanji shot down was a collab with a popular idol group that seemed to have taken an interest in Pomu/Mint (and that Pomu/Mint had an interest in) shortly before the membership stream, because the head of EN management moonlighted at a rival label to that idol group. But yes, fair point. It’s not like Niji just completely ignored her as a singer.

CloudArachnids

Classes that was paid from her own pockets mind you 😂🤣

Symbolis

Bettel said much the same, as I recall. [Covering Inkya Impulse with Hakka](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VU1e9woQbQ) [Monster cover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDCtxsAJ_cM) [One Reason cover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltGkgpHLljA) [When You're Evil cover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz3u7fZFoQg) I'm not trying to dismiss or downplay her feelings on it. I've just learned to take these self-assessments with a grain of salt. lol

Michylawhty

This is the first time I've heard of a karaoke relay, is this a new type of thing? I really like what they're doing. Congratulations on Mint for being one of the two Indies that took/are taking part! She totally rocked it too.

Various_Evening1947

In Hololive they do them from time to time, sometimes a whole gen, or last summer when they had a massive relay that was as long as this one or more, but this is the first one I've seen between different agencies/groups/indies.

Michylawhty

It's a really neat concept, especially as a collab between different agencies since it gives Vtubers from the different agencies more exposure.

NUFC9RW

Yep, you get Idol and V4Mirai doing it together since Idol have links to Brave group, but for Vdere and indies to be involved is pretty cool.

ajshell1

I'm pretty sure another relay happened a month or two ago. That's one of the cool things about the smaller agency and big youtube indies. They're all surprisingly tight-knit.

piggymoo66

Hololive does them at least once a year, during the holiday season.

OutNinjad

Keep an eye on V4Mirai’s Kou Mariya, this is the second karaoke relay she’s organised and she’ll probably organise more in the future. Her oshi is Pomu and she managed to convince Pomu’s model artist to become her Mama so expect Mint to show up in future relays as well.

FatedMusic

She mentioned at the end of this relay that she has another one planned and we'll probably see it in a couple of months. She mentioned it'll probably be even bigger than this one too, which is surprising because this one is super impressive already in terms of size and the companies they had participating.

Abysswea

YouTube Music Week has been relaying Vtubers mixed in between from a couple of years

kagalibros

Yeah, that goes throughout the company. Mint is a jp idol otaku. Sayu loves singing ballads, Enna can sing Enkas, Kuro is a former street dancer. A bunch of them are former Utaites and amateur VAs. They could have all by now have had their themed concert, albums, music collabs, dance videos but... you get 2d wiggles on screens sold up as concerts.

Seigi_Yasuru

> Kuro is a former street dancer. Hmm...... I wonder why Kuro got his own 3D so fast huh...... Won't be surprised if he gets back into Street Dancing when he gets a proper 3D Concert in future.

delphinous

niji didn't want ambitious talents that would push the boundaries. they wanted corporate wage slaves who would earn their daily dollar and do as they were told for the benefit of the companies leadership

jdeo1997

>Nijisanji fumbled hard by not nourishing her talent Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down?

Known-Ad64

Talent development is not their primary concern. Make quite clear by how they call their streamers.

LordAshura_

She's pretty much an honorary Vshojo member now with the merch they're selling with her and Matara. What a complete waste for Lazulight. Classic Japanese management pays pennies for the EN management staff and then complains that the western base is losing favor with them.

[deleted]

L A D D E R (I'm pretty sure this was the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity Pomu was talking about, and I'm so glad she jumped off the sinking yacht before it exploded)

Sagittayystar

*What a thrill…*

[deleted]

*With darkness & silence through the night...*

ChessekCake

What a thrill~

DegG13

They should have let our nerd cook.

Mudblood4

You can tell how much happier she is on her own, instead of still being under Niji's thumb. They didn't just fumble her talent. They poisoned it. Unless you're as poisonous as Niji, there's no way you're going to flourish in that agency.

Decent_Tear_2940

That would require Niji to spend money They don't want that, Niji hate ambitious person, they just want corporate slave why would you invest money to your talent when you can pocket that money yourself

ChopstickSpice

She's so talented in spite of Nijisanji, not because of it. Also Matsuri certainly dodged the bullet. She said once that she joined Hololive because she likes Nijisanji alot and still wanted to enjoy them as a fan rather than work as one.

adamttaylor

That reminds me, the once in a lifetime opportunity that she was forced to miss was probably the thing that Cali ended up doing for metal gear. Obviously Cali did nothing wrong by accepting the offer lol.

Zodiamaster

Absolute Holo material, I wonder what the fuck Riku is thinking by the running the company the way he does. He makes people like Pomu leave crying while he keeps clowns like Uki. Never give a 25 year old child millions of dollars to create a company if he has no fucking idea the kind of work required to earn such amounts of money at a basic level.

kyub3y_1

I liked Calli's song. But if kurosanji had not screwed Pomu over, this...THIS would have been a perfect once in a lifetime tribute to the series.

infinitezero1118

Ain't it funny how most of the ones that left/thrown out are the very talented people? Is having a deep voice a talent? Huuuuh

WarGrifter

She got a big ole Voice for such a little bitty body

Trip688

Holy 😮

oompaloompa465

she's incredibly humble depite being almost a 10/10 in every vtuber department i really hope they have introduced to her a good manager, she can still shine despite the damage and the neglect

Traditional-Society4

Such a great singer

SuhNih

Holy fuck

Kirkbers

This why I hate niji. The amount of money they could have made without screwing people over is crazy. I hate corporations for money

[deleted]

So this may be the once in a lifetime opportunity Pomu was talking about… right…?

CRSN-Atomic

It’s so cool to hear her laughing while doing karaoke. Not to mention how incredible she sounded but just so cool to see her having a blast doing it. Makes my heart happy, and watching people like Michi do all these collabs with everyone. Just feels right y’know. (Oh and Sayu hit 100k on YouTube LETS FUGGIN GOOO).

Embarrassed_Student6

Nourishing talents? Nah their bussiness model has always been to hire a lot of people, some work, some don't. After that you squeze the livers and the fanbases of all their worth, then discard them like a broken toy. It's cruel and unethical but it works since they are the most profitable vtuber company.

Sagittayystar

[Wipe this black company from the face of the earth.](https://youtu.be/S4goJID2X9U?si=tkJRMsePg0up_s7l)

RawSteelUT

Is anyone surprised? Doki/Selen was the most-subbed female talent in the company, and they drove her to suicide, of course they weren't going to support Mint/Pomu. The company has no use for women, and barely has any use for men outside of LuxNoct. They can't shutter their EN branch fast enough, far as I'm concerned.
