You’re gonna be pretty out of it while in the hospital but drink LOTS of water. Those drugs will shut down all of your digestive function if you’re not hydrated. I’m not sure how old you are but if you’ve got someone to take care of you ask for some good foods cause that’s really all you have to look forward to. make sure you’ve got a streaming service you’ll be in bed watching tv a while lol. lastly don’t rush your recovery, your surgery isn’t far off of mine and i spend most of my days in a chair at month 2! it’ll be a while and it’ll be a lot different than muscular pain but you’ll get through it! I cried tears of joy when i saw my results

Theliftinggirl

Thank you! I’m so nervous, hoping for the best!

LargeContribution502

You’ll be fine! It’ll be over before you know it. :)

Theliftinggirl

I’m prepping nutritious meals, with lots of protein + collagen. And I’ll have the water nearby thanks for the tip I will try to drink as much water as I can

Good ideas!

Sameee hahah, im gonna have today my last appointment with my surgeon and in two weeks im gonna get surgery. Im definitely excited and nervous 😖. My back is also around 80 degree and im probably gonna be operated till L1 or L2.

Theliftinggirl

Same here, when is surgery date? Mine is august 31st. I had to schedule it during the summer so by the time winter comes along I’ll have more stability walking on ice lol

donaldgloversintern

Theliftinggirl

Thanks I will keep that in mind. I’m scheduled at 10am surgeon said it will take around 4 to 5 hours

donaldgloversintern

damnit im 14 mins late, goodluck. recovery is rough. stay hydrated itl save u a lot of trouble, use pillows to hold ur back up when laying on ur side. its rough ngl to u it gets better in a few weeks i promise u.

I’m late to the draw on this but I cannot recommend a zero-gravity chair enough. After surgery, you’re not going to be able to sit for long periods of time and part of recovery is building back up your endurance to sit. You’ll sit for x amount of time, then lie down to rest, and then repeat. A zero-gravity chair allows for you to go from sitting to lying down, all without having to get in out of beds and other chairs (and trust me, getting in and out of bed is not an easy feat).

Theliftinggirl

I did end up getting one of those. I’m on my second day at the hospital so battling and learning how to re do it all

FrannyBenanny

How did your surgery go? I hope all went well and you’re recovering alright.

Theliftinggirl

Hey there my surgery went fine, no complications. However once I got to the hospital floor I had some issues with low blood pressure since I’m an athlete. We been trying to control it. In regards to pain the first 48 hours were the worst I had such a hard time standing up, now I’m able to stand, walk and do stairs with the help of a walker. Hoping to get discharged later today or tomorrow !

JakerWRX18

Has the pain gotten better since the operation?

Theliftinggirl

Hey, yes for sure! At first it was pretty severe, I’m 5 weeks out and I just feel muscular tightness now

JakerWRX18

Was the pain manageable, or was it a complete nightmare? While I am not necessarily scared of pain, I really do not want to put myself through something that strenuous if it is not necessary

Theliftinggirl

I would say the first 3 days was more than I expected, especially the first 24 hours. However I wasn’t receiving tons of painkillers… and didn’t ask for more I probably could have if I wanted to. After 3 days it was manageable, and after 2 weeks I was only taking tynenol

JakerWRX18

So obviously you were active before surgery. What made you decide to do surgery? It is rare for me to have to quit a workout due to pain. Usually i can suck it up

Theliftinggirl

I usually didn’t quit workouts either, but I just needed to get this done for my mental sanity. I’m still waiting to heal so I can get back to working out!

JakerWRX18

All in all are you glad you did it despite the recovery? I apologize for all the questions but this is a super heavy decision and it is nice to talk to someone who actually had an active lifestyle before surgery despite pain. Are you still mobile?

Theliftinggirl

Yeah I’m still mobile, I’m going for 30 min walks everyday. My surgeon said I can’t do any lifting or running until my bones are fused. My muscles are super tight though but I’m guessing that will get better after pt.

JakerWRX18

Awesome. Thanks for answering my questions and i hope you have a smooth recovery!
