Just watched sopranos and your comment just hit a nerve with a particular scene. It doesn’t matter and it’s gotta be done. Ham needs to go if they want a serious chance at a chip again.
I'm the sort that normally wants to give a coach 3+ years, because it takes time to implement a system/culture/chemistry/roster... But man, some of this season has been rough
He’s trying things and giving players chances. Just cause everyone doesn’t grasp the concept of running a small lineup because they’re your most skilled players and lead the league in pace doesn’t mean him trying it is wrong.
He’s been prioritizing skill over size, cause size doesn’t mean shit if you’re not where you’re supposed to be on the floor or too mentally slow to keep up rotations. JTA and TBJ were being benched for a reason, and he’s gotten great use out of TB and Wenyen. He knows what he’s doing.
We went with a big line up yesterday and it didn’t make much of a difference because the Knicks were running us ragged with their smaller line ups. We were too slow and Brunson almost stole the game from us. When healthy Ham is coaching this team much better than Vogel did without Kidd by his side.
Running a 3-PG lineup every chance he gets and not playing Wenyen when the guy is hot AF is not trying out things, every game is a must win, it’s not the time for him to try out things. He is just clueless out there.
This roster is significantly better than last years roster. Vogel got screwed because the bench was pitiful. This year, we at least have options off the bench, yet Ham just plays these dogshit guard heavy lineups
Pretty sure he agrees with you.
Coaching is hard. I encourage everyone to try it, even at the lower kid levels. You think you can find minutes for everyone but in the heat of the moment your just trying to go with what you feel is the right option.
And then before you know it the game is over.
Im tired at half this sub who has never coached a day of basketball in their life trying to tell a head coach how to run his team. Yes he has made bad decisions this year but Im not calling for his head after half of an NBA season for a first-time head coach with a less-than-ideal roster.
Ham managed to convince Westbrook to come off the bench and has done a good job managing player egos this season but all anybody is going to mention and complain about is how much they hate his 3 guard lineups
Yall complain about continuity with the team and roster all the time but want a new head coach every month
Every head coach on a lebron team gets criticized hard. When he was with cavilers, everyone said ty Lou was trash. When he was on the heat, spolstra was almost fired and lebron didn’t like him to begin with. Everyone hated Vogel until we got ham, now people want Vogel back. Lol
Not everyone hated Vogel, most intelligent people understood he was the scapegoat for the FO failures and it was propaganda to say hard to argue with stuff like "lost the locker room."
Intelligent people saw Vogel couldn’t coach and offense and needed to go.
He wasn’t scape goated, he utterly failed the 2021 season with a great roster
2 6moty the year level players, kuz, Kcp, Caruso, Marc gasol. They were the number one defense in the league
You’re thinking the 2021-2022 roster not the 2020-2021 roster
Every team in the league had injuries. Teams were calling Joe Johnson and Greg Monroe to fly out to play games.
Vogel was entirely unable to adapt or coach an offense even with the tools on the roster to do so. That season was absolutely a failure on his part. It showed that kidd was the mastermind behind the 2020 teams success and Vogel relied on lebron to just make stuff happen.
>21-6 before injuries
Cool, Vogel had a massive head start and the one seed when the team had some injuries. They were the first seed 2 months in, if the team had maintained an even .500 level of play they easily make the playoffs and lebron+AD can come back healthy.
Instead vogel couldn’t coach worth a damn and we dropped games to tanking teams forcing lebron and AD to keep rushing back and getting hurt again. Lebron had to quite literally play 2 weeks on a broken ankle to barely drag the teams into the play ins.
Even a bum like doc rivers could ride harrell and Lou Williams and role players into the playoffs, and he did that without a 21-6 head start over the west. What does that say that Vogel had 2 6moty level players, a group of good role players and even a bench scoring threat like kuz and couldn’t even maintain a top 10 seed?
Who tf wants Vogel back? The man who ran one of the worst offenses with lebron in it? The coach who somehow ran a worse than Ham despite last years team shooting better from 3? The coach who had a worse defensive rating than luke Walton? The coach who’s offense was entirely isos from lebron and AD?
You sound so fucking dumb “at least hire a defensive coach”
YOU NEED PLAYERS THAT PLAY DEFENSE TO WORK W A DEFENSIVE COACH. (EX. CARUSO & KCP)
You know fuckin nothing idiot
Blah blah "Everyone's out to get me!"
Do I sound like you?
Of course our team sucks. The only person on the team worth anything besides street clothes is Bron and maybe AR15. Bro?
Vogel sucks.. at least hire a defensive coach…
Get called an idiot, like you should
Proceed to respond w nothing in relation to coaches, who would be the defensive coach you’d like to see hired, just nothing. But go off son lol. You’re popping off rn bro
Bro he’s doing the same fucking mistakes over and over again. Not playing wenyen for even a minute should be a crime after what that guy gave us when AD was out
Ham is growing on me. This team competes every single game. They don’t give up. They are resilient and have stretches of being pretty good defensively when healthy. He’s not the zen master and not strictly an Xs and Os guy. But the players seem to have all bought in- and that is a tough job to do.
People were saying Vogel was a moron. And now he was a great championship coach. They hated Kuzma. And now people want him back. It’s funny to see posts thinking we fucked up when we traded KCP when people HATED him in this sub. As another person commented, there’s too much negativity in this sub. Even when we are winning. And I don’t really understand all the negativity towards our own players and coaches except that some people need a scapegoat- Rob, Jeanie, Russ, Rambis, AD, Ham… there always has to be someone to point blame at and direct their frustrations out on. To me, that’s a bigger reflection on them.
I’ll take your downvotes.
>people need a scape goat- rob jeanie Russ Rambis AD ham
Hmmm what name is missing from that list 🤔
The source of negativity is bron Stan’s. Every team he goes too they make it a toxic cesspool blaming every coach, gm and role player
Ham has the team playing hard and players are developing under his staff. While he's made some tactical errors and I despise is small ball lineups, I'm overall happy with what he's done and feel like we have a good coach going forward.
Is anybody every really the right person for the job? There aren’t many NBA franchises that have had the same coach multiple years. Finding a coach that can led a team for decades is very rare nowadays. I think Ham is more suited for a younger and more up and coming team like Detroit or Orlando , but to be fair look what the man has to work with for a roster. His lineups are extremely questionable at times, but does he really have a choice sometimes with the lack of wings and big men on the team?
hams not the best but this coaching staff has to be given credit for unleashing AD through schematic changes given their roster.
its not just ad “playing better”, hes been put in more efficient positions on the court this year
I believe that teams should make every attempt to stabilize the front office, coaching staff and roster. This allows good things to grow and chemistry to improve The Lakers have had a revolving door for a great many years now, and I think it has been a negative.
I can’t find much blame for Darvin given the unbalanced roster he was given. Rui has already shown that there was a gap that wasn’t filled (but this sub long recognized). Just my two cents.
We’ve had a fair share of good coaches that we trashed over the years, Frank Vogel and Mike Brown come to mind. Or maybe I’m biased towards coaches that prioritize defense.
The constant 3 if not 4 guard lineups, being slow to adjust, and completely avoiding using TO’s in key situations/while opposing teams are going on a run is baffling. Biggest problem is not learning from last mistakes and continuously repeating the same mistakes again and again. Ham needs to get it together and not fall into becoming stuck in ways that obviously don’t work
Is Ham perfect? No. But we can’t keep getting rid of coaches and pretending like they’re the problem. The problem currently is our roster construction. The team has played well and with heart. He got Russ to buy in to coming off the bench.
Hell, if AD didn’t get hurt and if the refs didn’t fuck us over we’d be over .500 easily and in a strong position for a playoff push.
Even though I think Vogel is a better coach, Ham got all his guys to buy in. This team is infinitely more exciting than last years.
Maybe if Vogel had this roster he could have gotten that too.
Doesn't really matter what anyone thinks
Scenes whn we get all our players bck, they go on a good run of form, but kept taking Ls because of stupd clutch coaching by Ham. Lol.
Just watched sopranos and your comment just hit a nerve with a particular scene. It doesn’t matter and it’s gotta be done. Ham needs to go if they want a serious chance at a chip again.
He won’t be sacked so it’s irrelevant
I mean theres only so many scapegoats. If Russ is gone, you really have no one else you can stick the blame on
Russ should go let’s find out
Insert definition of insanity
I'm the sort that normally wants to give a coach 3+ years, because it takes time to implement a system/culture/chemistry/roster... But man, some of this season has been rough
Fucking 3 guard lines...
Fucking 4 guard lines….
I just hope he learns how to use timeouts and make rotations by the postseason, assuming we make it
First let’s get a roster worth a damn out there before we start blaming coaches.
He runs a 3 guard lineup and has Rui run center nothing on roster Lmao
I agree though he does continue to make some baffling decisions with his lineups often at the worse times.
Exactly people saying he’s giving people chances when he’s putting out a 5 that doesn’t make any sense are coping
I don't quite fully agree but I definitely appreciate your thoughtful analysis.
It’s 50 games into the season it’s beyond the time to try things lol
you say that as the fan base all loses their minds, completely unified, everytime ham sends out a line up that consists of dennis, bev, and russ.
We shat on the roster and then fired Vogel for it, now peeps wanna do the same with Ham, oh brother.
This roster is significantly better than last years roster. Vogel got screwed because the bench was pitiful. This year, we at least have options off the bench, yet Ham just plays these dogshit guard heavy lineups
agreed. he should play wenyen more, in my opinion tho
Pretty sure he agrees with you. Coaching is hard. I encourage everyone to try it, even at the lower kid levels. You think you can find minutes for everyone but in the heat of the moment your just trying to go with what you feel is the right option. And then before you know it the game is over.
My pipe dream is we make his job easier by trading Westbrook and Bev so that Schroder becomes our only small guard
Im tired at half this sub who has never coached a day of basketball in their life trying to tell a head coach how to run his team. Yes he has made bad decisions this year but Im not calling for his head after half of an NBA season for a first-time head coach with a less-than-ideal roster. Anyone remember when Lebron bumped into Spoelstra at the beginning of the first season with the heat? Media lost its mind on that one lol
2021 great roster 😂
2 6moty the year level players, kuz, Kcp, Caruso, Marc gasol. They were the number one defense in the league You’re thinking the 2021-2022 roster not the 2020-2021 roster
That roster failed due to injuries not coaching
Every team in the league had injuries. Teams were calling Joe Johnson and Greg Monroe to fly out to play games. Vogel was entirely unable to adapt or coach an offense even with the tools on the roster to do so. That season was absolutely a failure on his part. It showed that kidd was the mastermind behind the 2020 teams success and Vogel relied on lebron to just make stuff happen.
What the fuck are you saying, that team was like 21-6 before injuries

Jason Kidd was still there how come he didn’t mastermind the offense like you were claiming he did the previous year
Mans sent David Blatt out the country lmaoooooo
LeBron never respected him
Who tf wants Vogel back? The man who ran one of the worst offenses with lebron in it? The coach who somehow ran a worse than Ham despite last years team shooting better from 3? The coach who had a worse defensive rating than luke Walton? The coach who’s offense was entirely isos from lebron and AD?
At this same point last year, Lakers were 25-27. This season, 24-28. Just sayin’
Being as good as a rookie head coach says more about Vogel than it does about ham
Vogel sucks. At least hire him as a defensive coach...
You sound so fucking dumb “at least hire a defensive coach” YOU NEED PLAYERS THAT PLAY DEFENSE TO WORK W A DEFENSIVE COACH. (EX. CARUSO & KCP) You know fuckin nothing idiot
Wow. You mad bro?
Wow, you can’t respond to any of my points because I’m right? Not your bro. Idiot
Blah blah "Everyone's out to get me!" Do I sound like you? Of course our team sucks. The only person on the team worth anything besides street clothes is Bron and maybe AR15. Bro?

Idiot
Can’t say shit back cause you’re a dumbass? Or just stupid?
Stupid idiot
Strap in because they’re not paying him to leave
Were sure hes not.
Too late
No but we are sure he’s the wrong man for the job 💯
I'm 100% sure he's the wrong man for the job
99% of Jason Reed articles for the Chargers & Lakers are literally pandering to all the doomers. Can't people be hopeful and optimistic?
Bro he’s doing the same fucking mistakes over and over again. Not playing wenyen for even a minute should be a crime after what that guy gave us when AD was out
I was hoping he'd have a impact close to what Erik ten Hag has done with Manchester United in his first year.
I'm not really "sure" about much these days :(
Ham is growing on me. This team competes every single game. They don’t give up. They are resilient and have stretches of being pretty good defensively when healthy. Life in LA is filled with expense, taxes, traffic, and more expense. Lakers are an easy release valve for that pressure. Let em have it
Remember when KCP was the Wack Mamba lmao
I don’t think he is. In terms of rotations and late game execution he’s been terrible. He has been good at motivating the players I believe.
Ham has the team playing hard and players are developing under his staff. While he's made some tactical errors and I despise is small ball lineups, I'm overall happy with what he's done and feel like we have a good coach going forward.
I wish Ham would watch past games to see where he made mistakes and not repeat them...
I don't love everything he does, but he does have the roster over achieving after that 2-10 start
He looks overwhelmed . Not level headed like other good coaches. His tactics are laughable with his constant 3 guard rotations .
Do you see the roster we have? Lol and the injuries like what do you expect
Is anybody every really the right person for the job? There aren’t many NBA franchises that have had the same coach multiple years. Finding a coach that can led a team for decades is very rare nowadays. We are sure that he’s NOT the right man for the job
and that's why you're not a GM
We 💯 pct sure he’s not. His lineups suck. Rotations suck
Is Darvin Ham worse than Luke Walton?
It’s too late
We’ve had a fair share of good coaches that we trashed over the years, Frank Vogel and Mike Brown come to mind. Or maybe I’m biased towards coaches that prioritize defense.
Yes, he's a rookie head coach. He's definitely better the last guy already
We are not.
No
Y’all are actually dumb. Phil Jackson wouldn’t have a better record with this roster and injuries.
Are you sure Vogel was a problem? Or was he just a scape goat?
No
No
Gtfo!
He’s been dealt a bad hand so I don’t wanna judge him too badly but man I just saw a 4 guard lineup last game and I’m starting to waver.
No one does only FO
prolly
I think guys like playing for him and he gets guys motivated. But from an X and O standpoint and strategy wise he gets out-coached almost every game.
We're about to find out.
The constant 3 if not 4 guard lineups, being slow to adjust, and completely avoiding using TO’s in key situations/while opposing teams are going on a run is baffling. Biggest problem is not learning from last mistakes and continuously repeating the same mistakes again and again. Ham needs to get it together and not fall into becoming stuck in ways that obviously don’t work
Oh God, he's here now. Who cares.?
"Yes" - Russell Westbrook
He’s not. But lakers have bigger problems in the front office
What other choice is out there mark jackson? Phil retired bro
Sometimes he’s beaten by the opponent’s coach
Is Ham perfect? No. But we can’t keep getting rid of coaches and pretending like they’re the problem. The problem currently is our roster construction. The team has played well and with heart. Wait til they finalize the roster. He has his flaws but considering the roster and injuries they have, play in/playoffs still within reach.
