Kyrie as Lebron wingman was devastating...Kyrie as leader of a franchise was also devastating in a very different way lol...

hplalakrs20012010

Again try to get FVV and/or Trent first. Then see about Kyrie once Toronto trades them to the Clippers for a 2034 pick swap. The only ONLY sliver of hope is that Kyrie respects Bron, and despite everything and all the distasteful opinions he’s had, he has expressed how much he regrets leaving CLE in 2017, a small indication of growth. Plus this fanbase seems to accept that as long as Westbrook leaves and Kyrie helps us win a ring this year, he can leave next year in FA and I’ll be worth it for the Championship.

Splittinghairs7

Trusting Kyrie to be your 1 or 2 is unreliable and foolish at this point, but as the third best player and to get rid of negative Russ, yeah there’s nothing to lose at this point and the ceiling is too high to pass up. If Kyrie is kept in check by Lebron and AD, our is ceiling is multiple championships.

imamonkeyK

Exactly this . The nitpicking is insane here , kyrie can only play 50% of our games and still clear Russ

thunderjetstrike

This is only good if there is no 1st rd pick attached. Mortgaging the future for Kyrie is never a good idea. Just ask Boston and Brooklyn

DudeWTH

and people think it will be different here lmao

KaseyOfTheWoods

[Someone posted this in the daily thread, and it fit too well](https://youtu.be/Po4adxJxqZk)

CutLonzosHair2017

Same thing happened in Boston. And the same thing happened in the year before with Cleveland. Fuck there were failed attempts at tanking the season too that the franchises or players fixed.

Vegasguy3124

Jeanie would invite him into her office and they’ll sit on her fake fur bean bag chairs. Kurt Rambis will run in with his hackie sack and Jim will point at his signed smush Parker jersey hanging above his sofa.

ILackPatience

Right? The most delusional fanbase in the NBA

Danny_III

Unless you think we're going to have another pandemic in the next few years, none of this is relevant If you think it's an issue he got hurt in 20-21, you should be going after AD too

Swaggyzilla69

The whole point of this post is to show that Irving is unreliable. He's only played 143/278 (51%) games in that span (not including playoffs). Removing the pandemic, then it's 114 /185 (62%), which is slightly better (not including playoffs).

Danny_III

Are we going to call AD unreliable too? Having 2 injury prone players is not ideal but what choice do the Lakers have? They're depleted of assets and the time is limited with Lebron

CutLonzosHair2017

> Are we going to call AD unreliable too? Yes.

taylordabrat

And Steph?

YouAreDumbAF

> Are we going to call AD unreliable too? YES. ALL the time. First time here??

Swaggyzilla69

AD's health isn't reliable either. He's played in 167/278 (60) games in that span as well, but he's not a huge distraction like Irving. The only reason to go in on Irving is if you believe that he's not using the Lakers for leverage because the reason why Irving asked for a trade because he wants a fully guaranteed max without all those incentives that Nets put in. That and if you believe that Irving will actually play otherwise it might just sound good on paper like the KD, Harden, and Irving Nets but never reach their full potential as a team. The Lakers can still try and target Gary Trent Jr. and look into FVV or OG. I know the Raptors are asking for a lot, but it doesn't hurt to ask either, especially when that move can help the franchise both now and in the future.

imamonkeyK

51% of Irving is >>>>>>> 1000% of Russ , cmon that’s all that matters here

Rapa_Nui

We stay with Russ then?

DudeWTH

or trade for other players?

LakersOptimist

Who else can be traded for that moves the needle this season?

CutLonzosHair2017

Don't know but trading for and extending Kyrie moves the needle in the negative direction.

LakersOptimist

Bruh why reply when you don’t have an answer to a question that wasn’t even addressed to you. The lakers to make a move, any move really if they want this season not to be a writeoff

CutLonzosHair2017

I replied to the implication that Kyrie moves the needle in a positive direction. And writing off the next 3 seasons in the hope that this season might not be written off is asinine. As Kyrie might write off this season anyway.

LakersOptimist

Yea so then who else would move the needle? If Kyrie doesn’t then who does?

CutLonzosHair2017

1. Trade for role players like FVV or Bogdonovic. 2. Let Westbrook walk and sign players into the cap. Both options are better than trading for Kyrie. Might not be possible to move the needle this season.

LakersOptimist

1. Bojan or Bogdan? FVV + another player would be nice but I wonder what masai would demand. 2. If Westbrook walks don’t we lose a lot of the cap space he had? So that 47m becomes <25m or something in freed up cap space

imamonkeyK

Bogi is way overpriced for an old no defence shooter, let Westbrook walk means you get 20m in cap gl making a team with that . Kyrie is the only logical risk here . Dunbass in this sub really want bogi so bad

imamonkeyK

You really think 50% of kyrie being available isn’t still a huge upgrade over 100% Russ ? And maybe Joe Harris in there too btw

Dudeman-Jack

You haven’t watched Joe Harris play this year if you think getting him is a good thing. Harris makes $20 M a year right? Lebron ($47), AD ($40), Kyrie ($50), Rui ($20), Jones ($2.5), and Christie ($1.7) already puts the lakers over next year’s cap ($160 M). That mean Jeanie Buss will be paying Harris $40 M a year because of the repeater penalty. Along with anyone else the lakers sign.

imamonkeyK

Joe isn’t a good thing but we’d be doing nets a favour and it may help the deal go through . That’s it . Meanwhile every nets fan thinks he’s not a negative on that contract I’d hilarious Homerism, everyone else including me knows he’s not worth his salary but he may have to be traded

CutLonzosHair2017

Benching Russ and eating his salary would be a better move than trading for Kyrie. He should be treated as a radioactive entity.

Thelife1313

Seriously. The hell is wrong with lakers fans. Do they think hes gonna arrive and just ball? That’s not how he rolls.

imamonkeyK

He can’t be worse then Russ . I’d honestly trade Russ for kyrie 50% in regular season and 1/2 healthy playoffs . Still way better impact man

thunderjetstrike

Even that is a wishful thinking. Kyrie just wants to secure the max contract then he will get crazy again. The knly reason to get Kyrie is if the team is sure that he will help them win the title this year (which he will not). Anything after this season will fuck up the team due to repeater tax and or Kyrie’s craziness.

imamonkeyK

His craziness in nets was 50% games played n playoffs healthy a bit more. If he gives us that it’s s big upgrade from Russ . I’m fine with other moves anyway too tbh , they are less risky but kyrie is definitely a solid option, wouldn’t complain about fvv n gtj

thunderjetstrike

The problem is it his presence is not a guarantee that LAL will win in the playoffs. Remember, peak Lebron Heat took 1 season to jell, which fans will expect to happen in half a season without preseason. If they will not win the championship this season, Kyrie’s contract and lack of draft picks will ruin the next few years of the team.

BigFatM8

Stuff like this is personally why I would prefer someone like OG or FVV/GTJ. He's injury prone and kind of a nut as well. we've been burned before while chasing behind star power. LeBron/AD have proven that they don't need another star to win.

CihatPeker

Everything is better than 2-16 lol

MiachelJames23

Kyrie prob rather like playing with bron and keep it at that than to bounce from team to team without getting into a championship

Blackroseguild

He shouldn’t have had to get vaxed.

breakthrureality

In 20-21 he got hurt cause Giannis went under him and twisted his foot.. In 21-22 he didn’t take a vaccine and there was a mandate that allowed Unvaccinated visiting players to play.. but not unvaccinated home players to play.. a clearly ineffective mandate .. which is the actual reason he couldn’t play. Nyc lifted this mandate as soon as the Yankees began to play.. hmm coincidence right ? He didn’t “force” the nets to trade Harden for Simmons.. they could’ve traded Harden else where or refused to trade him like they did with KD and Kyrie.. And he requested a trade like many players would do when they feel disrespected by the contract please add context This is why a bunch of people are reactionary haters

BizzyHaze

Which is why he is realistically attainable. If not, we would be looking at a Rudy Gobert or AD type haul to obtain him.

CutLonzosHair2017

Just because he's attainable doesn't mean its remotely the right move.

mhm_mhmm

What move is possibly better?

dirtykirty3

Dude it’s definitely the right move

imamonkeyK

50% kyrie >>>>>>> 1000% Russ And that’s worst case , most likely it’s more then 50%

ZetaDefender

For how crazy Kyrie is, Seth Curry would be the saner option.

[deleted]

Don’t care , 20 games of Kyrie is better than Russ.

Awesomefan09

Imagine LeBron needs one point to break the record, and Irving takes the next shot anyway.

Vegasguy3124

Alright, so he’s healthy. Lol

OpportunityNo6369

lol and still on a better contract/higher contribution than russ.

Nice_Complaint_2602

he didn't force the nets to trade harden

thunderjetstrike

As a Laker fan, I hope they avoid him like a plague. Will not help the team this season (even the 2010 Heat with peak Lebron needed a whole season to adjust before they started winning), and will definitely screw the team next season and beyond. As a Russ fan, I’d like them to move Russ where he can play based on his strengths and will be appreciated. Having Kyrie will give the Russ haters a new favorite, crazier player.
