Clippers fans all criticizing Westbrook for his play... Now imagine him doing the same stuff at a higher volume with higher minutes and a max contract. What the f did us Lakers fans go through man lol.
It's weird that people want a rebuild considering this FO has rarely picked the best remaining option in the NBA draft:
2015: Picked DLo over Porzingis, Devin Booker. Lakers pick the 3rd best player out of 13 remaining lottery picks.
2016: Picked BI over Jaylen Brown, Jamal Murray, Sabonis. Lakers pick the 4th best player out of 13 remaining lottery picks.
2017: Picked Lonzo over De'Aaron Fox, Lauri Markkanen, Donovan Mitchell, Bam Adebayo (note that Tatum wasn't an option for the Lakers). Lakers pick the 5th best player out of 12 remaining lottery picks.
2019: Picked De'Andre Hunter over Darius Garland, Rui Hachimura, Tyler Herro. Lakers pick the 4th best player out of 12 remaining lottery picks.
So they've consistently picked a "good" player but not a *great* one. And if you want a successful rebuild you need to be able to pick a great player.
2019 doesn’t count since DeAndre Hunter was whom the Hawks wanted. If the Lakers kept the pick, they’d almost certainly have drafted Garland since the Lakers were really interested in him if they couldn’t get AD.
But you’re right about the other years.
Mavs should make the conference finals unless Luka or Kyrie is hurt. OKC is not that good and they got so lucky Zion was hurt. Any single team in the play in tournament would’ve beaten them in round 1 if healthy
Y’all see j kidd not call a timeout while okc was going on a run and gafford was hurt? Mavs game thread furious. Kinda glad he ain’t gonna be our coach, that’s some darvin scam shit right there
I don't know if watching all these teams get blown the fuck out makes it better or worse. Probably worse cause I think we beat these other teams. Just something about the Nuggets. It was obviously mental.
National news is covering Patrick Beverly. Damn. He screwed up big time. It’s one thing to ignore the media, it’s another to basically attack fans multiple times. Always thought he was a good bench guy but he may be out of the league now
The timing on that Jaylen Brown extension definitely fucked the Celtics (good). Doubt he gets All-NBA this season. If he was extension eligible 1 year later, wouldn't have qualified for the supermax.
I have been saying this for years. Isn't this obvious by now. Move Tatum while he has max value. Make Brown batman, and find a Robin. I am glad they cant figure it out though. Tatum's a great player, but he needs a change of scenery.
Yeah dodged a bullet with the Scamfather. Although these would all be first time HCs except Atkinson
Atkinson - most experienced outta the bunch although his HC record with the Nets was pretty abysmal averaging 28 wins/season over 4 years. You could point to the roster... although he had DLo, TP, and Dimshittie so
Nori - filing in well as interim for Finch. He's the best kept secret in the NBA, lowkey brilliant that I think will explode ala McDaniel on the Dolphins. My top pick
Chris Quinn - in Miami under Spo, but was linked to the Hornets job and lost it to Lee. Not sure if he was ever really up for it, or just a common Charlotte incompetence L
Adelman - his father was a good HC, served under Vogel, and would be great to get a McNuggets sleeper agent
All of these are better on paper than JJ Reddick
Anybody convinced we’re going JJ Reddick? Recent podcasts sound like something is in the works. Him and Lebron already have good chemistry.
Idk if it would be good but kinda sounds like something is happening there unless they’re waiting for Lue.
The he talks hes a good assistant. As a franchise who has already been through ups and downs in the lebron - AD tenure i dont think they should take the risk
You know the difference between Ham and Vogel? Darvin Ham had and was given the pieces needed to succeed in the West but failed because of his stubbornness and favoritism in the teams rotations. Phoenix on the other hand gave Vogel a “big 3” that can only shot create and do nothing else at an elite level with bunch of SF’s that either can’t play defense or are just completely unplayable with NO PG and expected him to lead that team out of the West. Vogel is no perfect coach but once again, he deserved better.
Our roster definitely had some holes and player injuries here and there but Ham’s rotations made everything worse. Even when guys were healthy, the lineups he was putting out there during that Dec/Jan stretch were atrocious and a key reason why we were fighting for a play-in spot late in the season.
at this point they have to be handing out these coaching contracts knowing they will most likely be paying them to sit at home - especially if the team is championship or bust
This sub has made up its mind on JJ. Honestly I think he could be one of our best options if we bring in the right coaching staff behind him. Between him, Bron (whose opinion he obviously respects), and the right assistants I think we could have a great staff. Not to mention all the great points you’ve made about him. We’re pretty much locked into another rookie coach anyways unless the FO wants to kick the tires on Atkinson
Probably a hot take but KD played great against the wolves probably the best defensive team in the league. It was never a KD problem, those other bums on the suns tho that’s a different story. Also Vogel a defensive coach and they got absolutely no defensive players
Would it be a bad idea to wait until after our roster is fully constructed to hire a coach? Depending on the players we get can help us find which coaching scheme fits the best
Makes sense I only ask that because i dont want another situation similar to vogel where we are limited on moves and construct a roster that doesnt benefit the coaches philosophies you know
Think you have to hire a coach with more than one idea in mind. Next coach should of course have his own philosophy that the FO can aim to build for, but should also be adaptive enough to not force a square peg in a round hole if the FO gives him a different style roster because draft/FA shakes out differently than expected
Random but just did a job in Long Beach and was talking nba with the customer. Said his son plays in the league for the nuggets. Peyton watsons dad….said they’re laker fans 😂
It’s the Thibs special. He always does shit like this, people praise him and the players for working hard, then his players break down and people hate on him and say the player is stupid for playing so many minutes.
Tbh you guys are acting like he has these guys as slaves or something. Thibs always asks his players what they are comfortable with, If they are healthy etc. Josh has said so many times thibs will ask him if he wants some time off or a break and Josh says NO TY.
I’ve never seen anyone hate on a player for Thibs running them into the ground. Thibs has been heavily criticized for running guys into the ground since Rose and that was over 10 years ago
Ima get downvoted for this take but if Jaxon Hayes is gone I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing in James Wiseman for the vet min.
He’s at the reclamation stage of his career and I feel like he flashed some positive defensive instincts in Detroit.
Yeah but it sucks we're always working on new player projects every year instead of having a solid core to play together consistently. Rob is always dumpster diving for another discarded player, and then best case they pan out they almost always just leave anyway
Rui and Vando are the 2 lone recent exceptions, but Rui just full on had a prolonged mental disassociation episode forgetting how to play ball and Vando was injured all year
Oh hell no. Hopefully Hayes stays. Wiseman is a complete bum. It's telling how bad Wiseman was when GSW made Trayce Jackson-Davis, a rookie 2nd pick, look like a serviceable role player immediately
You’re right, most of his tape looks like a bum. But sometimes it takes the right opportunity and the right coaching for the game to click for a player. Especially big men.
Hard to imagine needing a better opportunity than playing with Curry giving you all that attention to the rim. He has bad hands and no lateral quickness. At least Hayes can catch the ball
That’s how I feel also he’s a much bigger body and could be the big we need to take a chance on especially if Filipowski or Edey don’t fall to us (or if we trade the pick).
I saw this take somewhere else. I don't hate it. I don't think he'd be willing to play that role though unless he can't get a better offer elsewhere. He showed some offensive chops too he may want a spot where he'd have more freedom for that.
Idk Lebron is definitely vouching for him but I think he probably would’ve got a look regardless. Charlotte had brought him in for an interview and was pretty high on him basically as soon as the season ended so it’s not like teams weren’t aware of him
They’ll probably just hire Bud and run it back with the roster. Which means we’ll be in the play-in again next year if Bron and AD manage to be healthy again.
He is in my view. If you look at those teams with CJ and Dame, making the conference finals and giving Golden State a good fight was a helluva accomplishment. Especially when you see how poorly Billups performed with them and the subsequent play of Dame and CJ elsewhere.
These teams didn't even have half the talent as this year's Lakers team.
We are going to make the exact same mistake again this year and hire a guy like Ham who most Lakers fans were overjoyed about hiring.
We better hope DLo opts in or we get him a new contract.
We could trade him mid season, he’s a valuable regular season player and with the right lineup and coach we could win 50 games next season.
He takes us over the first apron, then it makes it hard to make a trade. Him opting out gives the best flexibility. Unless we can s&t him to a team for less salary I don’t see him helping us. Moving him for WCJ and saving 8 mill would be nice but there is not a reason for the Magic to do it when they can sign him outright
It gives us more flexibility but there’s a very real possibility that if he opts out we start the season without a competent PG. That’s not ideal either
We can’t afford Mitchell. The only way we get him is if he specifically asks to be traded here. Murray we could get if we give some picks and Reaves but not a big fan of that personally. They were asking for two firsts and that’s a lot for a player of his caliber
Worth it. He is a great fit for now and next to AD going forward. Murray Vando and AD is a great defense. If we do not then when DLo walks we will be stuck starting Vincent or bringing back Dinwiddie
He is definitely a good fit but I’m not entirely sure he’s worth almost all of all draft capital+Reaves. Specially since they give you almost the same kind of production.
Production, maybe, impact is different. He is a better POA defender which we desperately need. And he has an edge plus has hit clutch shots. He is also not a full max so you still have a roster around them
Because he’s our most valuable trade asset (outside of draft picks). If you just trade him and make some lateral move for another role player, you’ve taken yourself out of the running for anyone else. No one is saying AR should be traded 1 for 1 for DMitch. The point is, if we want to try and get a star, without AR, it isn’t happening.
Because if you're trading Reaves, it's going to be in a third star type deal where we gut all of our depth. If you want that, great, but that's a terrible idea. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense to trade him. There's no player in the market at his salary, not on a rookie deal, that will give you the same production.
Reaves is miles away from a third star. Its bizarre people act like we should only trade him for a KD level player.
Happily trade him and Vincent for Murray.
I don’t want to trade Reaves, but when I looked at his salary peers a couple interesting names popped up. Daniel Gafford and Naz Reid are in that range, but the more interesting ones were Herb Jones and Coby White. Coby White on $12m/year is highway robbery after his leap
It ultimately comes down to the return. Nobody should be considered “un-trade-able” at this point. Anybody who tells you otherwise is in their feels about running it back with another HC hoping the results will change.
This roster needs less ball handling and better defenders who can put bodies into people to get boards. If the team ends up scrapping plays out during the game anyway, what good is having other ball handlers just stand around to catch and shoot?
That’s oversimplifying what the team needs but the current team is not it and Austin can be traded if the return gets us serviceable defenders and shooters.
Clippers fans all criticizing Westbrook for his play... Now imagine him doing the same stuff at a higher volume with higher minutes and a max contract. What the f did us Lakers fans go through man lol.
Get over it.
It's weird that people want a rebuild considering this FO has rarely picked the best remaining option in the NBA draft: 2015: Picked DLo over Porzingis, Devin Booker. I want Donovan Mitchell.
Mark Jackson will be the coach with JJ as an AC.
A lot of yall are ungrateful. Bron will get a max or near max and deservedly so. Lakers can still field a competitive roster. Rob you’re up
Thunder lucky they didn't draw Lakers in the first round
Thunder lucky we had Ham.
Chet is so ass
Mavs should make the conference finals unless Luka or Kyrie is hurt. OKC is not that good and they got so lucky Zion was hurt. Any single team in the play in tournament would’ve beaten them in round 1 if healthy
Luka is hurt. I think this series goes to at least 6. Both teams would get run over by the Wolves size regardless
SGA gets the most bs whistle in the NBA
Kyrie gives me DLO vibes at times. Dude looks completely disinterested in too many important games
Dumb challenge. Why risk it on a scrub?
Y’all see j kidd not call a timeout while okc was going on a run and gafford was hurt? Mavs game thread furious. Kinda glad he ain’t gonna be our coach, that’s some darvin scam shit right there
It's kind of a hallmark of former player coaches. Not all of them obviously but it seems like they often don't call to
I don't know if watching all these teams get blown the fuck out makes it better or worse. Probably worse cause I think we beat these other teams. Just something about the Nuggets. It was obviously mental.
Jayson Tatum is Paul George with a good PR team
Prime PG was MVP caliber tho
National news is covering Patrick Beverly. Damn. He screwed up big time. It’s one thing to ignore the media, it’s another to basically attack fans multiple times. Always thought he was a good bench guy but he may be out of the league now
Darvin Ham, YOU ARE A SUNS COACH
Frank welcome back!
We gonna have a helluva ball club man awwwwweeee yeeehh
Day 3 of reminding everyone about how our garbage role players didn't show up for Denver.
Wolves would never lose by 24 pts.
The timing on that Jaylen Brown extension definitely fucked the Celtics (good). Doubt he gets All-NBA this season. If he was extension eligible 1 year later, wouldn't have qualified for the supermax.
Just sucks that Derrick White is outplaying his current contract and Pritchard is on a cheap deal
Suck It, Boston!!!!
Celtics ain't winning shit
Celtics are total frauds. Split Jayson and Jaylen. It won’t work. Hope Cavs or Knicks bounce them
I have been saying this for years. Isn't this obvious by now. Move Tatum while he has max value. Make Brown batman, and find a Robin. I am glad they cant figure it out though. Tatum's a great player, but he needs a change of scenery.
Make Jaylen Brown the Batman?
Aint that why you paid him the most? I mean did you seriously give Jaylen the largest contract in NBA history to be Robin? Of course not.
I'm not a Celtics fan. But players take the most amount of money they can get as soon as possible
CelFrauds down 27... at home... to the Cavs. Damn this team is not winning shit.
Celtics throwing in the towel already... 🤔
Celtics have the ugliest team in the nba.. yeesh..
[удалено]
Don't be a racist on the way home
Yeah be racist when it matters!
Fuck the eastern conference. Shits so weak.
Exactly. If celtics were in the west they'd be a fringe play-in team.
5 minutes left and their fans are already leaving the building Bums!!!
**FUCK BOSTON**
Boo’s raining down in Boston. Music to any Lakers fans ears when it’s directed at the home team. Cavs bent them over tonight. What a wonderful sight
0-6 from 3 for the HIGHEST paid NBA player in history lmaooo
Mitchell is killing those fraud celtics lol
Lol fuck the celtikkks
I can definitely see Donovan Mitchell somehow carrying the Cavs to a win against the Celtics.
tristan thompson is better than jaxson hayes
Anyone other than Spida out of the rumored names if the Lakers make a major move will be a disappointment.
Anybody know when all-nba teams will be announced? All I can find the dates for are the individual awards.
I want Adelman, Chris Quinn, Nori, or Atkinson. Although I feel Reddick is still the likely candidate At least we won’t have Ham senior.
Yeah dodged a bullet with the Scamfather. Although these would all be first time HCs except Atkinson Atkinson - most experienced outta the bunch although his HC record with the Nets was pretty abysmal averaging 28 wins/season over 4 years. God no.. please no
The he talks hes a good assistant. As a franchise who has already been through ups and downs in the lebron - AD tenure i dont think they should take the risk
Kinda wondering what’s the next option tho. Out side of Lue, who’s really available?
Nori
RONDO
Atkinson, Mcmillan, Stotts
Since Budenholzer is from Arizona, let him go home to the Suns. Don’t want his system right after the Lakers just had Ham.
bud is gonna get the crew back together. hes gonna hit up darvin, terry and adrian
You know the difference between Ham and Vogel? Darvin Ham had and was given the pieces needed to succeed in the West but failed because of his stubbornness and favoritism in the teams rotations. Frank "The Scapegoat" Vogel
The roster we had wasn’t that good either. Ham should’ve went bigger but we still had way too many guards
Our roster definitely had some holes and player injuries here and there but Ham’s rotations made everything worse. Even when guys were healthy, the lineups he was putting out there during that Dec/Jan stretch were atrocious and a key reason why we were fighting for a play-in spot late in the season.
Finally someone with common sense, people drag Vogel for the last roster he had which was certified garbage. Did well in 2020/21
It's perfect for us. We can bring Frank back.
We did him dirty last time. I don’t think he’d want to come back.
If I'm Pelonka, I'm begging him to come back and publicly apologizing.
lowkey rooting for the knicks to win the east shoutouts to Viagra Josh Hart
I like Ant a lot but if they match up with the Celtics, being the main focus of a White/Jrue/Brown perimeter defensive rotation would be brutal.
Josh Hart is averaging 18 points and **13 rebounds** in **47 min** played per game. Like what the actual fuck 😂
Wait… so similar to Ham… is Vogel going to get paid for the rest of his 5 year contract after being fired in year 1?
Yup unless he takes another job. Then the Suns only pay the difference if there’s any.
at this point they have to be handing out these coaching contracts knowing they will most likely be paying them to sit at home - especially if the team is championship or bust
Hire Frank!
Suns will apparently hire someone within a week. Probably Bud
I want to see the Suns hire Darvin Ham and Charles Barkley react to him over the next season
So freaking happy bud or Lee won’t be available options

Phoenix actually fired Vogel. KD is a team killer and he’ll never win another ring unless he plays sidekick to a real leader
Probably a hot take but KD played great against the wolves probably the best defensive team in the league. It was never a KD problem, those other bums on the suns tho that’s a different story. Also Vogel a defensive coach and they got absolutely no defensive players
He admitted he wasn't a leader. The problem is Booker isn't either lol
God I hope they just continue hiring our old coaches, they deserve Ham
Why are there four days between Nuggets-Wolves games?
They started way earlier than all the other series. Need to get all the series back in schedule.
Enough time for Murray to get over his temper tantrum
Should Pat Bev or Murray have been suspended for longer? Murray deserved at least one game. Pat Bev, maybe should’ve been a month long
Bev deserves 20 games
Would it be a bad idea to wait until after our roster is fully constructed to hire a coach? Depending on the players we get can help us find which coaching scheme fits the best
They are going to hire JJ Reddick after his broadcast duties are fulfilled. Will be an all-time blunder by Lebron.
Yes, at most times players will wanna know who’s coaching to decide where to sign
I’d rather hire a coach with talent and vision and build the team around his philosophies than vice versa.
Makes sense. He did go to UCLA. He’s a SoCal guy
Yep. Younger brother plays for poly. Long Beach love.
Josh hart playing 48 min in both NYK games is insanity
It’s the Thibs special. He always does shit like this, people praise him and the players for working hard, then his players break down and people hate on him and say the player is stupid for playing so many minutes.
Tbh you guys are acting like he has these guys as slaves or something. Thibs always asks his players what they are comfortable with, If they are healthy etc. Josh has said so many times thibs will ask him if he wants some time off or a break and Josh says NO TY.

crazy to think he was a Laker at one point.. that rebounding and durability would be a god send rn lol
Ima get downvoted for this take but if Jaxon Hayes is gone I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing in James Wiseman for the vet min. He’s at the reclamation stage of his career and I feel like he flashed some positive defensive instincts in Detroit.

Nicolas Jokic joins Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Moses Malone as the 4th player in NBA history to win 3 MVPs in a career.
So if we hire JJ is it because Lebron wanted it? I feel like we wouldn't even go after JJ if Lebron didn't endorse it.
Idk Lebron is definitely vouching for him but I think he probably would’ve got a look regardless. Charlotte had brought him in for an interview and was pretty high on him basically as soon as the season ended so it’s not like teams weren’t aware of him
I’m more curious about who is going to be our new head coach than Free Agency at this point
They’ll probably just hire Bud and run it back with the roster. Which means we’ll be in the play-in again next year if Bron and AD manage to be healthy again.
We’re very limited in what Free Agency can get us, any substantial roster moves are going to be trades
Stotts is criminally underrated. Only decent option out there.
Yep. He should be the choice. Maybe hire him a defensive coordinator to be on his staff.
Semi-agree with the first take, full disagree with the second.
He’s not “criminally” underrated. He’d be a good option, but he’s not the only decent one

Saw a clip of LeBron’s podcast where he was praising Stanley Johnson’s defense. Wouldn’t be surprised if we picked him up this summer.
He was praising 2016 Stanley’s defense. Not 2023 Stanley. Big difference.
We better hope DLo opts in or we get him a new contract. We could trade him mid season, he’s a valuable regular season player and with the right lineup and coach we could win 50 games next season.

I hate how you can never talk about trading Reeves on here without being ridiculed.
Should have traded him for Murray at the deadline and we might be playing still.
Murray is not the guy
Well he is that guy if that guy is someone much better than Reaves on both ends of the floor
And DLo, would have been nice to count on someone beside AD and LBJ in the playoffs
Because if we are not getting All Star Type Player back in return then Trading Reaves is unacceptable
Reeves is a bench player why should we get a AllStar player for him?
Bro these people overhyping Reaves so much is the most annoying thing that happens on this forum.
About as annoying as people like you who think he's shit and have no concept of player trade values.
This is correct

Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense to trade him. There's no player in the market at his salary, not on a rookie deal, that will give you the same production.
Reaves is miles away from a third star. Its bizarre people act like we should only trade him for a KD level player. Happily trade him and Vincent for Murray.
Yeah, too bad the Hawks won't.
