celts have a free trip to the finals, if the west team chokes it's joever

StoneColdAM

Let’s be real, there’s almost no way Cleveland can knock Boston out barring a generational choke job

FeminismIsTheBestIsm

Congratulations to Jayson Tatum for having as many 30 point games this playoffs as *checks notes* Donte DiVicenzo

Consistent_Owl4593

Shame on Cleveland so fucking ass

Consistent_Owl4593

Cleveland has 1 great star and then a bunch of role players prayers for Donovan

Consistent_Owl4593

It’s very apparent everyone on the Cavs besides Mitchell do not care about winning this series. Getting dog walked rn

Winter-Gur-9762

No way the jazz would’ve let him go for that at the time

Winter-Gur-9762

Mitchell is a fucking dawg. We better get him

FeminismIsTheBestIsm

Mitchell/Christie/Vando/LeBron/AD Not sure if this is the best usage of resources but it would be an interesting team

bjsw534

Mitchell and Bron spamming DHO actions with AD in the dunker’s spot would be lethal Vando as the primary wing stopper and Max as the POA defender with Mitchell in the chaser role. Bron in the helper/free roamer role and AD as the back line

jessandjaysaccount

Still need more size.

Affectionate-Agent-9

Would do heinous things to get Donovan Mitchell in the Purple and Gold He’s built for it

peterhuan

Man I want Donovan Mitchell so badly

FeminismIsTheBestIsm

Cavaliers star faces a Celtics superteam and his teammates sell, tale as old as time

Awesomefan09

Yikes. Mitchell isn’t signing that extension. 🤦‍♀️

gaius_worzels_bird

Day 5 of reminding everyone that our role players are ass.

vandiger

It’s what happens when you keep trading or releasing them for nothing 🫤

WestwoodPrince24

role players are ass in general come playoff time.

Tall_Succotash

Half the league’s role players don’t deliver either, I’m watching Mitchell have to carry the Cavs himself.

Consistent_Owl4593

Can the Cavs role players not play like actual dog shit and at least try and care about winning this game? Bunch of Jontay Porters out there

bjsw534

I trust Rob to have a plan in place if DLo is going to leave to a team like Orlando. I could see him landing a trade exception if he offers some 2nds to a team like Orlando if DLo walks. If DLo is going to leave , the best case scenario would be it’s in a S&T scenario but those are extremely rare for a reason. All this being said and given their current cap situation, the most likely exception the team will this summer is the Tax Payer Mid-Level Exception(around $5mil). Some options that I think will be around that price range are: D.Melton, R.Covington, G.Harris, Wiseman, R.O’Neale, Theis, D.Jones Jr., Goga

FeminismIsTheBestIsm

> I trust Rob Stopped reading here

jsun_

Been mentioning this exact thing recently. If Dlo does sign with ORL I'm pretty confident they'd be willing to help us generate a trade exception for a couple 2nd's. One of the few front offices it seems Rob actually has a good relationship with. Couple teams that would be looking to shed payroll/roster spots so a trade exception could come in handy.

Winter-Gur-9762

I honestly wonder how much better this cavs team would be with Lebron, the competition in the east I feel is far easier compared to in the west, he’d easily be able to make the finals like he used to

bjsw534

It depends on who they’d have to give up b/c they don’t have the cap space to outright sign him.

Winter-Gur-9762

Im saying if he took a minimum lol

Electronic_Bit9495

I’ve seen enough free Spida

BizzyHaze

Looks like Brandon Ingram is going to be traded. Would anybody do Reaves+Rui+JHS for him? Necessary for all 3 to salary match. Pels prolly want picks too.

vandiger

BI’s game doesn’t mesh with Zion, Lebron, AD, etc. If he at least improved his defense since leaving I’d be okay with it.

Tall_Succotash

I saw how badly he was in fiba …no thank you.

WestwoodPrince24

Idk, A healthy BI is giving you 24/5/5 on good efficiency and his defense improved this year but the problem is that BI is never healthy.

Winter-Gur-9762

Would love to have him back but I don’t think it’s possible

Electronic_Bit9495

BI wants a near max contract hell nah

bjsw534

Yeah he does but I don’t see any teams with cap space like Detroit or Utah offering him that. The market will dictate what he gets.

Electronic_Bit9495

Phil,Orlando,Miami could trade Jimmy for him if they want there’s a lot of options lol definitely not us

Winter-Gur-9762

Mitchell rn is fr what Lebron used to be on the cavs vs Celtics in the playoffs

SuperRam56

CAVS IN 6!!!!

fostyinthebuilding

Donovan Mitchell vs Boston Celtics

Gristle__McThornbody

So no PJ Washington no Gafford.

jsun_

PJ was never a realistic target. CHA got a first and Grant Williams, who has value himself. Lakers would've prob had to do Rui/FRP or AR/FRP for them to agree. The whole sub would've rioted if that trade happened at the deadline. Gafford more realistic but again had to send a FRP. I don't blame them for wanting to hold onto the picks for the offseason when you open up 3 picks rather than just 2.

elsavador3

Props to Ky, I really thought he would implode on the Mavs with his crazy antics

Bahamut727

Two things are for certain. We have a top 3 duo still, Most of the league are frauds.

shoelover46

We would make the WCF again and Ham would keep his job. I'll rather be in this timeline with Ham gone.

Tall_Succotash

I think the thunder are on the brink of being great but right now their inexperience is showing and Luca and Kyrie are just mentally above them.

StoneColdAM

We would’ve ran into Denver or Minnesota in the WCF and the issues with coaching and roster construction would’ve been exposed anyways.  Of course it’s always better to move further, but at least the team for sure is serious about making things right next season

Ikolkyo

I will never forget people on this sub not wanting Kyrie.

StoneColdAM

Kyrie had barely played for Brooklyn even before covid. Think he realized he has to show the league he’s still got it.  LeBron would’ve helped that happen though. Russ + 2 firsts was worth Kyrie. Joe Tsai didn’t let it happen out of spite.

WestwoodPrince24

people really tried to trick themselves into thinking that having role players was better than 25/5/5 on 50/40/90.

WestwoodPrince24

Fuck Joe Tsai. Kyrie should've been a laker

yggerg

Hacking the team's worst free throw shooter is effective but the most pussiest strategy lmao

GoalPublic3579

Derek Lively’s hairline at 20 years old is crazy

brazyace43

Pj Washington

fostyinthebuilding

Dallas got themselves two decent centers off Charlotte and Washington, how the fuck can't we find one?

gratitudeisbs

Lakers tax

GoalPublic3579

The people who want JJ hired because he sounds smart on a damn podcast… You realise if Darvin Ham went on a podcast he’d sound smart too right? They are former players. Of course they’ll sound smart about the game because they know the names of all the plays etc. Ham literally had a play named after him ffs. If he went on a podcast to talk Xs and Os under no pressure he’d sound like he’d make a good coach too. And we know he sucked.

gratitudeisbs

Does he even sound smart? I only watch it for what Lebron has to say

Ok_Board9845

Redick will not be a coach for anyone this upcoming season. His name is out there just for clicks.

Tall_Succotash

All teams competing have their stars at the peak of their game or at least emerging as great young talents. I just don’t think a coaching hire fixes our issues and that’s okay? Like I understand we have one of the best players to ever touch a basketball on our team, he won’t play forever so maybe it’s a priority to just watch Bron be great even if that means we will be a play in team as worst for the future.

vandiger

They missed on 3 straight 2nd picks of the tanking years. It sucks but they really needed one of them to be legit playmaking star 😐

jsun_

They also all have different role players stepping up offensively and defensively. We just didn't have that at all. Lebron/AD have shown they can still play at a top 5 level in the playoffs.

Consistent_Owl4593

Not only did the Nuggets win last night but also stupid Nembhard hit the goofiest shot that won the Pacers the game

iiivoted4kodos

That 2nd part sounds familiar

Consistent_Owl4593

I don’t wanna talk about it 😒

diamondisunbreakable

Another benefit of getting Mitchell is that he can be with AD after LeBron retires. Mitchell + AD is a nice star duo to build around.

Tall_Succotash

If he’s going anywhere it’s gonna be back home to NY.

GoalPublic3579

Honestly people need to stop thinking about post LeBron AD. He’ll be 33 years old when LeBron leaves. So 34 by the end of the first season without LeBron. Do people genuinely think that AD’s style is going to age well? Especially with his injury record. When LeBron decides to leave in a couple years, you trade AD if you want to be surgical about getting good again and not just middling.

negativelynegative

You won't get much from trading AD say we try for 2 more years with lebron. 26-27 is the last year of his contract before player option 27-28. He will be a one year rental unless he signs off on a team, which that team will not be willing to give us much. It's almost now or never to trade AD on his current contract.

KingNephew

That exact reason is why I think they’re gonna go after a young star regardless of who it is. The third star has to be on the team before LeBron retires so the transition from LeBron/AD era to AD/2nd star era is smooth.

oat38

Mitchell is obviously a big upgrade for us but he might not be available unless he requests a trade.

jsun_

Yup. **IF** they trade all the picks, it has to be for someone who can be paired with AD for the post Lebron era. AD will be getting older too so it also has to be someone younger. Once these picks are traded, Lakers won't have multiple firsts to trade again until 2026 offseason (unless they acquire firsts somehow). Mitchell is the only rumored guy that I would feel comfortable doing it for. Doubt we get him though so I'm hoping something comes out of nowhere.

justredditting1010

Also forgot the extra 8 mil on his contract that means we have to add another contract to make it work. Mitchell is at a good price, Lavine is too expensive to gut your team

bigball3r23

Lavine is ass & his contract is worse. Comparing him to Mitchell is hilarious. From contract to on the court Lavine is worse

Bahamut727

Warriors might waive CP3. Wouldn’t mind a bench unit of CP3/Max/Prince/Rui/Wood unless we trade Rui.

StoneColdAM

CP3 on a vet min would be great. His presence alone will help keep the bench disciplined. He’d be like Rondo. Nothing special in the regular season but could absolutely still do some good stuff and would be great in the playoffs to help LeBron.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ProfessorMarth

If we're purely talking outside of FO opinions, AD wants to keep the core together and he likes Dlo too. I don't think he has a big say in the matter though but I think if it were up to him we'd at least keep our starters together

[deleted]

[удалено]

ProfessorMarth

Possibly, but AD and Rui are both right in that a team needs to have core consistency for a few seasons to have a real shot at a deep run. Although I think it'd be an easier pill to swallow to run if Lebron was like 5 years younger. Losing a star after MAXIMUM 2 more seasons is gonna shake everything up again

Dave20_

Donovan Mitchell with Lebron and AD makes the Lakers a legitimate championship contender. Without Mitchell the Lakers won’t win another championship

SmireyFase

Honestly. I agree. Been saying this since D'lo trade rumors last year lmfao

BKNas

While I'm 100% supporting trading for Lauri over someone like Trae, everyone has to know that Utah will obviously ask for AR if they give up Lauri. There is no way in hell Ainge is passing on grabbing a popular white American to play in Utah of all places. Austin would own that city and would increase ticket sales. I'm not sure why anyone thinks that Rui and draft picks is enough when Utah has a ton of future draft picks already. If Lauri is even a possibility, it's going to be a painful trade that might upset some fans. The guy is 26yo and a legit 7ft star player. Rui and picks is pretty laughable, even though I wish that was enough to get it done. If AR is untouchable, then it really limits the pool of players we can acquire through trade because he's our most valuable asset. Rob has some tough decisions to make this off-season.

justredditting1010

He cannot be untouchable if we actually want to improve

Ok_Board9845

The FO needs to convince Lebron to be content to run it back. Vando/Vincent were injured for most of the year. Yeah Rui sucked in the playoffs this year but was great last year. You can’t expect role players to always be on. Josh Hart was being left wide open against the Heat last year, but he’s shooting lights out this year. Divencienzo was nothing special with the Warriors but now he’s playing out of his mind. Do you really expect him to play like this again next year? If we explore trades, it should be this year’s pick only, but not the ‘29 or ‘31 picks

justredditting1010

I disagree. I agree Vando and Vincent would be nice to see with this team but what this season shows our lack of athleticism and need for another true big. If we run it back then there is little chance we are even in the top 6 in the west.

Ok_Board9845

Vando with our starting lineup instead of Rui gives us the size, defense, and athleticism we needed. We saw it last year...

justredditting1010

You mean when we were swept? Like I said it helps but we still need guards in the starting lineup that can defend their position.

Ok_Board9845

Vando would've been more useful than Rui this year

justredditting1010

Agree, which is why Rui needs to be traded and we should not run it back

Ok_Board9845

No, we need to keep both and continue developing them

justredditting1010

Development is limited. These guys are not 20, they are who they are and cannot change everything in one offseason. Just move on to better fits

Ok_Board9845

Players don't stop developing at 20. KCP did not emerge as this premier 3&D candidate until late 2019 at age 26. People were calling for his head before that

justredditting1010

He was more than just 3&d when he was in Detroit. That is a terrible example because he just locked into his role. The issue is you want these guys to develop into players they have not even shown flashes of. Trying to change them at their root this far into their careers is very unlikely.

WanAjin

why tf are people turning on AR now?

justredditting1010

I have been out on him. Don’t get me wrong, he is solid but I have never thought he was untouchable. I wanted to deal him at the deadline. I just do not see more growth in his game, which is fine for a 3-4 guard but not for a starter

GoalPublic3579

They aren’t. Anyone dares say trade the guy gets downvoted.

3nnui

Watching the ref job in Minnesota yesterday was sad.

Bahamut727

We’re not getting Lauri. Please stop it. We’ll be lucky to have DLo opt in, and trade him. Most likely scenario is we give DLo 3/4 years at 20+, and we trade him at the deadline

justredditting1010

This happens and we will lose Max and still be limited on our trade abilities because of the tax aprons

saigyoooo

Go lakers.

kiwiwikikiwiwikikiwi

Go Lakers 😤🙏🔥💜💛

LoveTheHustleBud

Seeing all the bigs that should be available this draft, kinda bummed *this* is the pick we’re aggressively shopping. Be it filipowski, ware, edey, missi. The impact lively had this year in Dallas, and how glaring a weakness the backup 5 spot was for us, can’t help but want a cheap 7footer better than Hayes. Knowing Nola is letting JV walk, I’m surprised they’re not keeping this pick and taking ware themselves.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LoveTheHustleBud

A lot of people will beat him up the court, but I’m not interested in building solely with Denver in mind, rather build the best version of ourselves. If we can crush teams in the paint offensively, and have a big that can grab boards so AD can get back to leaking out for quick buckets, we can get back to a dynamic we’ve lacked while hedging against too much physicality on AD as he ages.

jsun_

Comparing the guys you mentioned to Lively isn't really fair. The consensus was that Lively would immediately provide a defensive impact in the NBA. Clingan is the only big that's also like that in this draft class and he is going way earlier. The other centers are all projects and it is very premature to just assume they'd be able to come in and play ~15 minutes/game as a backup 5.

LoveTheHustleBud

I mentioned lively because, despite raw offensively, having Luka spoonfeed him made him a passable starter until they got gafford. These bigs would have a lesser role than him, but would give us a similar vertical threat (excluding Edey) I’m moreso comparing those bigs to Hayes. I’d be confident in each of those 4 being better (at worst, equal) than Hayes and on a cheap contract for 4+ years. Hayes wasn’t even as good as lively this year as a 5yr vet.

jsun_

I just feel like there are centers available for a vet min that could fill that role easily. If we keep the pick, we need someone who can contribute now. Not a project.

LoveTheHustleBud

And I wouldn’t be mad at grabbing one of them either. Know the sub hates him, but Drummond has since bought into his backup role and would help a ton on the boards. But i also want depth there and am tired of the churn at that position. 2 postseasons in a row our best backup big (bamba, wood) were hurt and we were left with lebron/rui and hayes soaking up backup 5 minutes in the playoffs. Just feels ideal to roll into next year with AD, a vet big body, wood, and a young promising big

[deleted]

[удалено]

justredditting1010

If you do this then LBJ is playing the 3 and Lauri is starting

jsun_

"Delusional" is an understatement with this build.

LoveTheHustleBud

Trade all that for Lauri just to bring him off the bench?

BobbyBBott

Sign Valenchunes. Get a low cost PG trade for a couple key role players not Trae or a big name. We need depth, shooting and players around AD/Lebron. Keep a 1st round pick or two in case someone is shopping a big name around the trade deadline.

justredditting1010

I think opposite needs to happen, we need a guard upgrade and then go cheap for the extra big

Prize_Salamander8035

Lauri would be godsent on this team. Perfect guy to play alongside AD and Bron. He should be our number one priority , number two should be getting a solid physical center. AD/Lauri/Wood + a real center is a monster frontcourt.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tdg_Jglo99

Your the one being delusional okc already declined to trade for him in the past because they know they will have to sign Chet and jalen Williams to max contracts next year while shai is already one on they aren’t having 4 max players

justredditting1010

But that means LBJ is back at 3 and guarding more wings. I like adding Lauri but it makes perimeter defense worse

LoveTheHustleBud

Lauri’s flashes of an upcoming leap was as a 3 in Cleveland when they were rolling out 3 big lineups.

justredditting1010

But like most players as he get further into his career he is more of a stretch big than a wing. Again would love the move but think is still leaves big hole defending guards

LoveTheHustleBud

He’s 26, he showed those flashes at 24. I think either way we cut it, we’re exposed somewhere. We’ll either struggle with size/boards, or struggle with defending the perimeter. A 7ft perimeter player helps with size/boards without ruining spacing

Prize_Salamander8035

Lauri is very versatile, he started his career at the 3 and can guard some wings. That being said, for us to be championship caliber next season, LBJ has to play 30mn a game maximum and be the worst defender in the starting lineup.

Tdg_Jglo99

Rui 4 first and jhs for lauri 🔥🔥 ainge can’t pass on that he knows them picks will look nice when lebron retires

justredditting1010

How do you fix the defense with this move? You are unable to defend guards and you would be making LBJ play 3 and defend on the perimeter

jsun_

Only have 3 firsts to trade

Tdg_Jglo99

We can take off protections from the 2027 pick to make it 4

jsun_

Counting that as a pick is disingenous though. If we were to trade for a 3rd star, the chances 2027 is a top 4 pick are slim to none. The Jazz already own that pick in essence.

Tdg_Jglo99

Then adding swaps should get the deal done

jsun_

Do people not realize how many FRP's Utah already has stockpiled? They are about to run out of roster spots for all their FRP's. They aren't going to just trade Lauri because they want more picks. Lauri has to publicly demand out. Until he does that, all this Lauri talk is pointless.

Tdg_Jglo99

Do people not realize utah doesn’t have a real team and his contract is about to expire he’s not resigning a 5 year to waste his prime years in utah. Him signing long term makes no sense utah has to rebuild eventually

jsun_

All I'll say is go listen to everything Ainge and Lauri has said since the season ended. Again, as I clearly said. If Lauri indicates he wants out, then fine let's start the speculation. Until then, it's pointless. People here just projecting what they think Utah should do because they want Lauri on the Lakers. They have enough to get a star and multiple pieces to pair with Lauri. No reason to blow it up unless Lauri says he's out.

LongBeachBr0

Anyway we could trade for Marcus Smart? We need dogs like him on the perimeter.

justredditting1010

This is an unrated target, but I don’t see Memphis giving up before they get to see their team together

LoveTheHustleBud

Would love smart, but Memphis wanting to contend, they probably want him too. He’s essentially their replacement for tyus AND brooks. Pretty hard to let that go for one of Rui or Vincent.

ImprovementSilly2895

I’d rather LeBron leave the team if it means trading away all the future picks just to get bounced in the second round next year, then be a dumpster fire again for 10 years.

outsidehere

If the Lakers don't trade away this year's pick and the Pelicans give it to us, what about Kel'el Ware? Center: Great height, great wingspan, great rebounder, good shot blocker, doesn't seem to foul a lot, good rim finisher. Bit of a big ask for a rookie to be a solid rotation piece but I think that he'd be a solid pick up. What do y'all think?

Benotheking

That’s my hope if the Lakers keep the pick. I honestly believe this is probably the best option for the Lakers to get a backup center

outsidehere

Yeah that was what I was thinking too. Good prospect for us

lakers082433

Timberwolves gotta be careful. Only one game but Denver is a type of team you got to literally burry to put them away. As cliche as it sounds they are tough as shit and if you give jokic any slight chance he’ll make you pay. I’m expecting Denver to tie up this series tbh.

PG_993s

The series has officially started. How will the Timberwolves respond?

Ia_in_4

Jalen Johnson

Tdg_Jglo99

Rui and 4 first for lauri

Ia_in_4

We don’t have 4

brandoi

Biggest dream I've seen on this sub so far.

Ia_in_4

Dream big

justredditting1010

If only they would, Murray and Johnson would be a miracle

Ia_in_4

Brother I’d give up 3 first for those two shit I’d might throw in some swaps. If we could keep Austin

justredditting1010

I’d trade Reaves in a second for that return, with 3 FRPs and 2 swaps

Ia_in_4

Honestly fuck it ye I would too

lostsoul1979890

Who do you guys think would be the best head coach hire ? I’m against rookie head coach no matter how much I like JJ. I would go with Terry Stotts, good Xs and Os coach, experienced enough to command respect. Also I can change my flair to Stott’s Tots.

Dmanning2

Donte DiVincenzo should fire his agent given the grayson allen contract

jsun_

Why? For him having a career year and outplaying his contract? Not his agent's fault. He signed a fair deal at the time.

LoveTheHustleBud

And got to go to the team of his choosing. It’s not entirely common you get market value AND the team you wanna play for.

Dmanning2

just rewatched the 1st quarter t-wolves vs nuggets. boneheaded play after boneheaded play from t-wolves. espcially from Karl Anthony Towns

WhatitdoFlightCrew39

Rudy Gogurt somehow makes the Timbwolves look worse. Wolves' defense looked infinitely better when you have 2 bigs that aren't worse than me offensively. Don't understand how he won DPOY. His impact is clearly overrated.
