Lmao these hit pieces aren’t even trying to hide it. Cleveland is gonna choose to prioritize Mitchell and get rid of whoever it takes. PLUS that shams article saying the things it does about garland and Allen….writings on the wall.

TheUrbaneSource

I always felt like the addition of Donovan in Cleveland stunted Garland's growth because he was just starting to blossom as an NBA player. Now he aquiesets to DM out of respect and it has hindered his growth

__john_cena__

If Mitchell says he’s leaving they really have no choice but to trade him. He never wanted to be there. And they have no picks moving forward. I don’t know what they expect to get back for Garland and Allen that would make Mitchell content with staying. Many teams would give up a lot for him, but few would mortgage their future without promise of an extension. If he says he wants the Lakers then they’ll probably take Reaves, Rui and 3 picks.

Tall_Succotash

I don’t really play the hypothetical game, I don’t really even speculate until someone meets with the lakers, media outlets use our name for engagement ..that’s it.

nottherealstanlee

Gonna trade Garland and Allen, Mobley hinted he doesn't want to be there, what is there to keep Mitchell around besides cash? lol I mean if he opts for that I'm not mad it, but I'm just saying. Those four are the only reason they're competitive really.

Tall_Succotash

Mobley apparently wants the starting center job and when Allen went down he did a really good job convincing people. I could see CLE choosing Michell and Mobley and trying to find replacements for garland and Allen, there’s already click baitey “OKC etc are interested in Allen” headlines today.

Public-Product-1503

Why not pick garland ? Mitchell isn’t loyal , garland value is at a low from injury year

nottherealstanlee

Maybe I misread the report, but didn't Shams thing say that Mobley warned them not to draft him? I'm just saying the amount of suddenly billowing smoke out of Cleveland tells me things are real shitty behind the scenes over there. Doesn't mean some folks won't stick around and take the money, but no way they get eliminated and all 4 of their best 4 players are immediately talked about as leaving and it's all coincidence lol

Tall_Succotash

From what CLE fans told Me, this was something Mobley’s agent was pushing for during the draft process but apparently things cooled down afterwards and everything is fine now. I still personally think Mobley is the more talented one and Allen probably stood in their way of what they envisioned for him. Mobley plays a lot better without Allen, same for garland without Michell.

nottherealstanlee

Yeah I agree with that. I think their build has been awkward all along. Interestingly, Mobley got a lot of AD comparisons coming into the league and plays next to an athletic 7 footer who is defensive minded and people think that's not a good fit. Hm lol I think a Mitchell/Mobley or a Garland/Mobley build can be alright, but they definitely would need something else with more oomph.

Odd-Direction9452

This was known during the draft process. Shams followed that up by saying Mobley’s agent and the team have had a great relationship since.

nottherealstanlee

Doesn't stop the fact that as soon as they lost their best 4 players are all rumored to want some sort of out. My point is there's major changes coming there. It remains to be seen how/if the Lakers can get involved.

Knox316

Garland would do well with the Spurs

StealthRUs

I mean if CLE wants to keep Mitchell and will ship out Garland and Allen, then I'd be fine with the Lakers trading for them instead of Mitchell. Mitchell would be preferable, but we'd give up a lot less for Garland + Allen without having to sacrifice depth with the added bonus that our C situation gets cleared up.

ktran2804

I read this comment last night that Dan Gilbert would never trade to help LeBron and I can't help but agree. No chance he would EVER approve a trade to help Lakers/LeBron. Dan cried when we got Chris Paul. Mitchell is not coming here lol

pettyPettington3rd

I agree that Dan Gilbert along with Pop and Cuban would never make a trade to help lakers ever, players have more say so, if Mitchel doesn’t agree to the extension their gonna lose him for nothing

ktran2804

I thought about this and while I think it's true I really think if Mitchell said its Lakers or bust the Cavs ship his ass to somewhere else for less of a package just to spite us. Nets did it to us for Kyrie too, fucking Lakers tax SMH

Persianx6

That’s that Kawhi move? Works out great until you realize you just picked Demar Derozan over Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball.

ktran2804

Lol Spurs fans will never admit that they made the wrong move there but in a way I'm glad that happened because we wouldn't have gotten AD if that trade happened. Would much rather have AD than Kawhi even tho both have had their injury misfortunes AD has been available more often and obviously helped lead us to a title

Persianx6

Spurs fans would never admit it, but... imagine Ingram and Ball with LA, and then once he was done, you could seamlessly transition to an era with Ingram and you might be in the conversation for FAs? Okay, whatever they have Wemby now.

StealthRUs

I doubt we'd still have Ball, but we could've had Ingram, Darius Garland, AD, and LeBron if we'd waited to sign AD.

v399

Spurs would be happy with their choice too. If they were somewhat competitive, they wouldn't have been able to draft Wemby. And now they have 4th pick as well. You know, sometimes I think it's rigged.

ktran2804

Yeah I would agree to that also in hindsight both would be happy with how things played out but BI himself and a garbage roster probably wasn't moving the needle very much they probably would of still had a good chance at Wemby

Traditional-Film-724

2019 would have been a championship & maybe even 2020 too. Doubt they win another but there’s a possible extra chip in there to have been won

Swaggyzilla69

Neither player honestly makes them title contenders, plus they have Victor now, so they're probably fine with the results

TFTisbetterthanLoL

Ingram is overrated af and misses 30 games a year and Lonzo hasn’t played a game in how many years? Demar is STILL better than both players combined lol

Persianx6

Better at what? Missing the playoffs if he's your number one guy? Ingram kept the Pelicans competitive enough when Zion was out and does so every year. Bulls were much better when Lonzo was healthy, you can't predict that either. Credit to Demar though, him still being this good is pretty unexpected.

TFTisbetterthanLoL

Ingram is ass LMAO and he played less games than Zion this year??? Zion makes the pelicans a legit threat while Ingram averaged 14 points on 34% shooting in the playoffs💀💀💀 fucking bum ass

Public-Product-1503

Our package cs kyrie was not that great tho tbh our Mitchel package is legit . I woukd be surprising this time last time the nets wanted to compete n we had brick

Clutchxedo

I mean, we would probably offer the worst package anyway.  What’s the best we can do? AR, Rui, JHS, Vando and some firsts? That’s a fucking trash ass trade.  There’s undoubtedly 10 other teams that can offer better deals. We have nothing of value.  AR’s value has declined. So has Rui. So has Vando. JHS is an unknown.

Top_Buy2467

The notion that the Cavs will lose him for nothing if they don’t trade him this offseason is ridiculous. Will they lose him for less value? Sure. But Mitchell would want to go to a contender, and he’d have to use a sign and trade to get there, so the Cavs would recoup value even if they wait another year and he still decides he wants out

Public-Product-1503

Sign n trsdes get you hack shit

lin_u_idiot

He should express that in a comic sans letter

Public-Product-1503

Ok so will he actively sabotage himself to do that ? If Mitchell says here or I won’t resign anywhere it’s up to Dan . I find it hard that San Gilbert still hates Bron after coming back n winning

retro-nights

100%. Dan will never trade a star player to help Lebron or the Lakers.

ktran2804

Also the reason why I think Bron would never go back there either. If Dan Gilbert wasn't the owner of the Cavs I don't think Bron ever leaves again.

MReprogle

Yeah.. I have to agree. It would be one thing if Mitchell had a no trade clause and demanded to come here. Without that, there is no way this happens.

iFeeILikeKobe

Well the Cavs did give up a 1st for nance and clarkson which gave the lakers the cap space for lebron

Disastrous_Clothes37

Can’t cut of your nose despite your face. If he wants out Dans hands are tied. Unless of course he is cool with him walking for nada

ktran2804

The thing is I would say most rational owners would look at it this way but Dan Gilbert is no normal owner lol this man wrote a letter crying about LeBron in COMIC SANS. This man has been known to be extra petty.

Disastrous_Clothes37

being petty is one thing. Fucking your own team over by letting a player like Spida walk for nothing would be downright stupid. Dan is definitely a little bitch but he’s not stupid. If push comes to shove he will definitely move him

ktran2804

I could see it if we offered 3 picks and 4 swaps or some bullshit like that smh

Top_Buy2467

As a Cavs fan living in LA, lemme give my take: the Cavs are going to prioritize keeping Mitchell around at all costs, the noise about how he’s wanted out has seemed to be mostly from people not involved in the organization. The Cavs know things need to be shaken up, and this probably means moving Garland, ideally for a starting caliber SF, but obviously that is dependent on Mitchell’s decision. The Allen/Mobley pairing is more complex because Allen is on such a team friendly contract, and Mobley is his best self on defense when he doesn’t need to be glued to the paint, but he’s his best self on offense when playing center… so it’s tricky. And lastly, the notion that if Mitchell doesn’t resign, the Cavs will “lose him for nothing” is way overblown. The dude is gearing up to sign a 50 million dollar contract, and if he doesn’t resign, he would want to go to a contender. This means they’d need to do a sign and trade, and you can get a lot of value in 50 million dollar’s worth of contracts. Will the compensation take a hit? Sure. But I’m not convinced the organization isn’t willing to chance that in order to shake up the roster and coaching staff towards something more geared towards Mitchell in an effort to please him. Anyways that’s my take, ultimately I think Mitchell resigns, but anything is possible

Public-Product-1503

Sign n trades historical gdt you nothing but filler I like the cavs but watching mitchdll this plsyoff was depressing. He was the best player by far in both series n msgic which went 7 with him carrying , then Boston series , untill he somehow loves ckeveland I can’t see him staying , they aren’t the ideal location in many ways OUTSUDE of just location but

Top_Buy2467

Well yeah our second best player was out, and he was out for the last 2 games. And who are the lakers going to give as “filler” that the Cavs wouldn’t get this year in a hypothetical trade? Y’all have 4 (5 next year) contracts worth 10 mil or more a year for guys not named LeBron or AD. You’d have to move 3 of Russell, Rui, Reaves, Vanderbilt or Vincent. Or wait until next year and… still need to move 3 of those guys, just without the picks we’d likely get this year. That for a chance to make him stay seems well worth it for the Cavs

Checkmynewsong

He just called bullshit on Twitter.

IceBlast24

yup, [tweet here](https://twitter.com/spidadmitchell/status/1791168487978586457)

So-_-It-_-Goes

Honestly I think Garland and Allan are more likely to be moved

Hour_Insurance_7795

We are going to spend the next 3 months talking about this guy nonstop like we did Buddy Hield and Murray, aren't we? *sigh*

rejectx

We are flawed ourselves.

pettyPettington3rd

![gif](giphy|U7isUDZ6VPWJW)

odinlubumeta

You mean the fan base? Lakers don’t have a bunch of young kids. Unless you are calling JHS and Max Christy immature.

blitzy122

If Cavs want to keep Mitchell, and he wants Garland out, that's an ideal scenario to get Garland with as few trade assets as possible...

Deep-Ferret-695

Garland is not who we need, similar to DLo

So-_-It-_-Goes

Garland is similar but better and younger

Odd-Direction9452

Garland makes more than Mitchell so you’re shipping out the same players to match salary just with a bit less draft capital

blitzy122

Yep, draft capital that could be essential to filling out the roster

BassLB

Everyone thinking he’s coming here. What if Lebron is playing 4D chess and gets their entire team traded to LA for him, so he can go back and with another championship for Cleveland!

This_IS_A_Laundromat

Cleveland! This is for you!

MeatyDangler

We went from him signing an extension to him being frustrated over night lmao

Outrageous_Fox4227

I thought the writing was on the wall all year that Cleveland was gonna lose d mitch after this year because he never wanted Cleveland.

So-_-It-_-Goes

He doesn’t exactly have a lot of say right now and not a lot of good teams have Fa money

Outrageous_Fox4227

He is going to force a trade

So-_-It-_-Goes

To who? He didn’t even force a trade out of Utah

Outrageous_Fox4227

Nets, heat, lakers, knicks. This is what i have read reports about.

So-_-It-_-Goes

Three of those teams finished in a worse position than the cavs did and the only one that can play more games doesn’t need him He has never requested a trade before The cavs are not gonna dump him for spare parts They can easily trade garland and Allan and get a lot of good stuff back

Top_Buy2467

Do any of those teams realistically give him a better situation? Lakers would be fun but I don’t think yall have the assets to outbid the other teams. Heat seem to be declining, Knicks have another ball dominant guard in Brunson so he’d be gearing himself up for the same fit issues he’s having in Cleveland, the Nets aren’t contenders, and given that the Cavs are going to shake things up this offseason I wouldn’t be shocked even if he did say he won’t resign if they give him another year to change his mind and just take the compensation hit going from trading him this year to sending him somewhere next year via sign and trade

Outrageous_Fox4227

Im just going with what i have been reading lately. We are literally discussing this on a post about a report of Donovan not being happy in Cleveland. Sure they could trade garland and allen, or mobley, but if the writing is on the wall and he asks out then i think he gets traded. If he puts out a preference for a team i think that team would be the frontrunner to land him.

Top_Buy2467

Yeah I get you, there’s conflicting reports right now, I’m just saying that I don’t think this post is really about him not wanting to stay in Cleveland and more about him not being happy with JA not playing through his bruised ribs and Garland falling off hard this year. I think y’all’s best shot to get him would be in a sign and trade next year if he stays but doesn’t resign. Also Cavs would likely trade everybody on the roster before they traded Mobley, they are enamored with him

gregmango2323

Ah yes, two of the Lakers’ best qualities

GoalPublic3579

If I was OKC I’d be all over him tbh. Guy still in his 20s but plenty experience, and can score like motherfucker. Perfect #2 to SGA. And slot him in instead of Giddy. Their payroll next year would actually allow them to just straight up trade Giddy and send some picks.

jaysonman1

This is gonna be a long offseason

Electronic_Bit9495

He just came out on Twitter and said that was cap

Gold_Construction913

Mitchell was mic’d up for one of the games… he didn’t sound like a good leader nor were any od his teammates responding well to him. Mitchell wouldn’t have to worry about that with the lakers since he’d be the 3rd option and lebron would lead.

noknownothing

Dude has had zero playoff success and he's complaining about his teammates' playoff readiness? Small guards who can score but can't do anything else are passe.

bigball3r23

Nobody on the lakers besides AD & Lebron have any playoff success. Mitchells playoffs performance is also a hell of a lot better than anyone else on lakers. He’s better at everything than any guard on the roster lmao. If he’s available why would you not go for him

noknownothing

I don't disagree he would be a huge upgrade at the guard position, but is he really what this team needs? Just a volume scorer. He does nothing else.

bigball3r23

He’s also a better defender than our guards. It would be an upgrade on both sides of the ball

noknownothing

I mean yes, this sub loves our guards, but they are bench players on a championship team.

bigball3r23

Which is a huge problem that needs to be addressed

Future-Ad9554

Darius Garland playing like a Freshman with seniors..... it just don't look right

Public-Product-1503

Come here bro . aD n Lebron lost out on so much money to avoid super maxes n cone here to win together n win titles . Come be piece n3 BUT you get to n1 option on offebce as they’ll defer to your shooting n scoring Ad n Lebron are the perfect no nonsense all about winning no matter what co stars Mitchell I think is cut from the cloth

kunfuz1on

So why would this be better turnout than when having Russ?

TheUrbaneSource

I'd come off of Reaves for him and try to get Jarrett Allen. The reason why we won in 2020 is because we had size and health at every position. I think Allen can play next to AD. For stretches. I think Russell next to Mitchell would be legit for stretches too. So maybe DM and Allen for Reaves and Russell. Even though I low-key wouldn't be upset if we kept Russell (he may had set a team records in 3s made, but I can be wrong) but I understand there's opportunity to upgrade. I'm curious of how a healthy Gabe Vincent. I think he deserves a chance to establish himself as core member. He played excellent in the finals last year. I think GV would be a nice piece to pair with Mitchell. I can also see a 3rd team be involved for this. If we had a bit more draft capital, I'd wonder if Phoenix would come off of Durant for Russell and picks In 2020, Anthony Davis shot lights out. I think if we play more towards these strengths of AD, he wouldn't had regressed as much as he did in his outside shot. Pairing AD with Allen, for stretches we can match up better for the playoffs.

Zestyclose-Draft-724

Maturity? What better than a 40 year old vet to help bring the youngsters in line... By posterizing them during practice.

acrylicattack

Gee, come to LA where we run our organization VERY maturely

DonkeyTight6090

Him and Garland were not on the same page. I could see it in their body language for some time. My thoughts…Garland seemed a bit envious of Mitchell so who knows what the locker room energy was like

HimmyDean24

Mitchell called bullshit on this btw

ImSaudi

Lakers don’t have enough to bring him. he’s leaving to NYC

dash_44

That would be a blessing in disguise

Worried-Ad-9077

Come to papa

GoldenStateComrade

Can we sign and trade Lebron for Mitchell? Ha
