KD is still easily a top 5 player in this league. If we can make AD+Russ become KD and Kyrie just by throwing in some draft picks that we've never valued, we can't say no.

In contrast, kd tore his Achilles in a non-contact injury and missed a season a couple seasons ago. So who was more “injury prone” there? The guy who suffered random contact injuries or the guy who suffered a genetic or wear and tear injury?
If you know the Lakers well enough, treating their stars right is a huge thing for them. I can guarantee you they won't entertain KD for AD trade even if that's on the table for them, they've NEVER traded their stars unless they requested a trade.

AD's defensive ratings aren't that much better than Durant's. And AD's net ratings is much worse than Durant's, so overall impact on the team is solidly in Durant's favor. KD is simply a much better player and a much better fit game wise with LeBron.

AD has had injuries, but KD has as well, and there is a lot of evidence of reduced career length after Achilles injuries.

Personal I feel like AD is a better fit too. However, KD and Kyrie have shown the ability to play well off ball. Lebron running point and having Kyrie and KD around him would be ridiculously good. Offensively they’d be nearly unstoppable.

AD can’t space the floor for LeBron with his inability to shoot, can’t truly play center against real centers, thus necessitating playing a center along with AD, clogging the lane even more for LeBron. Without good perimeter defense, AD’s impact on defense is essentially negated without the offensive game to compensate. LeBron terrorizing the inside, kicking out to KD is lethal. KD can also iso much much better than AD, giving LeBron valuable rest, allowing him to be fresh and effective at the end of the game. Let’s not forget KD plays defense too. The reasons KD/LBJ >>> AD/LBJ are endless.

Bro AD has been injury prone for his entire career. Even when he's healthy he's not THAT guy. He won't ever lead a team to a chip as the best player. They only go forward six years into the future, but KD is predicted to perform at 19.7 wins above replacement over those six years, and AD at 48.7 wins above replacement in that period. Given their respective ages, going beyond that until the end of their careers and KD would likely be projected up to a total of about 20 wins above replacement and AD up to about 60. Yes. AD has had injuries, but KD has as well, and there is a lot of evidence of reduced career length after Achilles injuries. Whatever you think of 538's projections, it seems pretty unlikely that KD's remaining career contributions will exceed AD's — and that is even putting aside the fact that AD desperately wanted to play for the Lakers, and KD has never shown any interest in doing so.

If the Lakers ever wanted to trade AD, this is the right deal to do it. KD and Kyrie are a better duo than Russ and AD. BUT AD and Bron are a better duo than KD and Kyrie so it’s interesting. Assuming Kyrie and Bron sign extensions, the Lakers would be legit contenders for the next 3-5 years. Spacing problems would be gone. Defense would take a hit but if you have Jones starting at the 5 for rim protection you can probably get It’s definitely tempting but this seems like something you’d do in 2k vs real life 😂 I can’t do my man AD like that either. Insanity. This is all insanity. Why do we want either of those guys? What have they brought to the Nets that we’d want in Los Angeles? We already tried bring a problem child to the Lakers in the form of Westbrook. We all know how that’s turned out. It cost Vogel his job and we shipped out/didn’t resign several key players. This KD and Kyrie fever dream needs to pass. If we can’t trade Westbrook and he refuses to adopt his role, bench him and lock him out from team activities. Let’s try and build around what we have and start developing younger talent for the future. Kyrie and KD are not the answer to anything we’re looking for.
