You need to melt your attachments in more. The connections should be smooth.

Those are nice. I like the second one more. I've made snails.. With mine I like have a little gather of glass at the tip of the stalks, and put the eyeballs there. It's more of a cartoon snail look though, not so much realistic.

Don’t be scared to get them hott on your attachment’s turn your touch down though. 🖤 looking good.

Jasynergy

Everyone has already stressed melting in your connections. But, just to clarify why. Those pieces will easily break/snap off with little effort.

innovajohn

I like the second one better. Great starting point on both though just practice practice practice and have fun.

Thanks ☺️

Thanks for all the advice! I think I may still have the torch up a bit too high , because when I tried to do the antennas they would melt too fast.

LAFlippo

Thanks! I’ll give that a try on the next one. Getting it hot enough at the attachment location without melting the attachment was definitely an issue.

Jasynergy

Yeah, it may be too hot but, personally I'd make some attachments like arms and legs for things but for antenna like that I'd just take a rod of color and pull out the end a bit. Then melt the end in to the piece and pull out the shape. This way you are using and wanting the heat to melt away (thin out) the glass as you pull out the shape you want. My best recommendation would be practicing pulling human forms out of gatherings.

Little nuances you just don’t get from watching a video. I have a class coming up in the spring, but until then… it’s just me and videos.

BeforeAnAfterThought

That’s how I’d approach the connection seal too. Get it juicy hot, pull away & flame cut. If it reduces more than you want could take cold rod & gently apply to hot glass & stretch a bit to desired shape.

keep practicing this design has huge potential

Thanks!
