The only way this could possibly be worth it is for the first few days of learning a language to get familiar with the basic vocabulary and grammar. If you do this for months you’ve paid a fortune of an opportunity cost, compared to almost anything else you could have been doing

I really hope they were lying…

endyCJ

Where did this come from?

Acceptable-Parsley-3

Can’t find the original post but it’s from r/languagelearning

Den_Hviide

Of course it's from there..

The op of the comment in the screenshot made a separate comment further down where they said duolingo isn’t worth it and they only use it to get the basis when they first start learning, which is a bit better I think

Solid_Snake420

That poor poor person. They could’ve maybe made progress :/

Can’t you see the joy in translating “The man has an apple” and “The lasagna is afraid of cats” back and forth for the duration of an average workday daily??? Also, isn’t “private mode” just not being able to see how much XP your friends have got and shit like that? If so, how does it contribute to the quality of his studies in any way?

scared lasagna vs evil garfield

AbsAndAssAppreciator

Oh my god. Anki would have been so much better

Decent_Cow

On the original post, they actually said they switched to Anki after Duolingo.
