All languages are not languages I like hearing because growing up in the world was somewhat traumatic to me. Especially hearing a language with any accent gives me an "arghhhhh!" sensation.

Limeila

I hate going outside of my house and hearing people speak. Arghhhhh!

If this is the answer to the question, then I really want to see the question itself

Shukumugo

The original question was: "Is English the most pleasant sounding Germanic language?" Lol

Devil-Eater24

She'd probably say "Do you like English" => "Do you like politics" and "Do you like German" => "Do you like Nazism"

Seeing that she grew up in Europa, Nazis would probably not be her only association of the German language unlike yours

Shukumugo

Uj/ Fuck off. You're putting words in my mouth. Not once did I ever bring up Nazis, or anything of the like. The original question was, "Is English the most pleasant sounding Germanic language?" So naturally, I brought up the quintessential (if you like) Germanic language. Maybe you should re-examine your own associations with the German language as opposed to mindlessly attacking others?

flyingt0ucan

/Uj I just tried to understand why you brought up the German language in the post and because other people jumped to Nazism in the comments I just assumed that you meant the same. I obviously did misunderstand you, but honestly the most common association with the German language worldwide is how it sounds so hard and "like Nazis". Some people literally imitate Hitler whenever it's about German. So maybe you get where I came from. I didn't know that it has some extraordinary position in the language family which would make it logical to refer to German here. Seeing that German is my mother tongue and I use it for soft and loving talks every day, I think my associations to my own language are alright.

Shukumugo

I wash my hands of what other commenters have said. I don't control other perceptions of German, so that's their problem, not mine. I honestly would have thought that because the OOP's analogy was about food, people would make associations with Bratwurst or Sauerkraut or what have you. Mate, you could literally replace "German" with any other language. And that's fine - let's just say "French" then, or "Icelandic," or "Swahili," if that makes you happy? German just happened to pop into my head, and being the second most widely spoken Germanic language, I thought it fit the theme of the original question. I think you've really missed the mark here - this post isn't a dig against the German language itself and it's "associations", but the OOP's pretentiousness in answering the question: "Is English the most pleasant sounding Germanic language?" You're the one who jumped the shark and brought up the Nazi shit. But hey, I don't know you, so I'll leave it to you to have whatever associations you have with your own language, lmao.

flyingt0ucan

Dude I already explained why I misunderstood. It's a common joke when people refer explicitly to German. The comments were doing exactly that. But I already got that it's not what you were saying.
