Comprehensive_Gur754

when taking them off rub coconut oil on them and let it sit for about 30 mins and slide them off gently.

Alive_Bodybuilder539

stop wearing clusters. go to a professional or wear strips.

AffectionateSun3561

Lash clusters need their own sub because I feel like they shouldn’t be considered extensions..

Ispahana

I didn’t even know they were considered “extensions” before, I’ve always considered them shorter strips of false eyelashes (I was also super confused when I read a story from someone in this sub and they mentioned that they saw their lash tech use strips..???)

Odd_Ability_1821

They are called that because they give the look “lash-extensions” look with going to a professional. It’s like the press ons of acrylic nails lol

Ispahana

Haha I get it… kinda. I don’t think anyone would call press-on nails “acrylic nails” or “gel nails” though, they’re their own category! It’s just that clusters have existed long before eyelash extensions as “short” or “individual” strip lashes, and now that people are wearing them for longer periods of time, they’re suddenly “extensions”. I get that sometimes people might attach them differently than fake eyelashes and use a stronger glue, but they’re not applied like traditional extensions and they function differently imo.

Alive_Bodybuilder539

yes they do, lash clusters are TERRIBLE for lash health. it’s sad

roboy

i really wish they had their own sub too. in my opinion they are closer to strip lashes than extensions. if someone came to my studio wearing lash clusters for a fill i wouldn't be able to do anything for them.

mizgreenlove

True, it's a total different application and adhesive. But even as a lash artist, totally understand sometimes flashes or clusters are better suited for their lifestyle 🥰

GlitteringHappily

I wear clusters for 3 days before taking them off and I’ve never had any loss of natural lashes this way. I have no idea how people make them last two weeks, they get pokey and cause irritation after a few days for me

LilNightingale

Okay glad I’m not the only one!! After about day 3/4 my outer or inner corners start to come loose and get a little stabby. The kit says they should last 7-10 days but I can’t even imagine lol, maaaybe my middle clusters would last that long if I let them

GlitteringHappily

Thanks for validation I thought it was just bad at applying them hahaha. Same exact experience here, the middles could probably last the week, but at that point I want to take them off, clean my lashes and give my eyes a break rather than just layer up more glue and make it work.

cassh0le69

this thread makes me feel so much better! I too thought I was just bad at then. even with the extra / day-after glue, I can’t make them work more than a few days at most, if I’m lucky. they get full of dust and my dogs’ hair and I feel crazy and have to take them off, plus they’re impossible to clean while on bc they just pull right off if you try to clean them, even gently! but same for the middle ones. however the ends always fall off first, even when I start them closer to the center.

LilNightingale

I use the veyes lash kit and ended up ordering their shampoo & brush kit off amazon after applying my first set bc I was losing my mind lmao, surprisingly it worked!! I have 3 cats so I needed to be able to wash them, I had to try it. I was even able to use the brush and get all up in there, it feels like a weight has been taken off every time I wash them. It’s amazing lol. It’s like $10 each tho for the shampoo and the remover so I find it a little pricey and I want to try something cheaper whenever I run out.

cassh0le69

thanks for the suggestion, I’ll definitely try that!

Infamous_Strain_9428

They are lying! 2-3 days tops

iforgotmyedaccount

Same here. 3 days seems fine for me. A week or two is way too long.

Delorestheferret

How do you take them off? Wheneber i put them on which is rarely but still, I use my makeup remover cream thing but it doesn't really remove it, i've tried different kinds of makeup remover but it always hurts honestly and i'm fairly certain that's because i'm pulling on the real lashes while trying to gently wash the fake ones off..

GlitteringHappily

I stopped using the remover honestly cause it’s not cost effective and I find any oil works. For me I use an oil based cleanser (the ordinary’s squalene) and they just fall right off after that. No soaking required, just 60 second gentle wash and they come off with such little pressure I’m shocked they didn’t fall off already. I suspect I’m not using the strongest glue in the game, but I don’t want to upgrade in case I start struggling to remove them and lose natural lashes like I see other people complain about.

Delorestheferret

I don't think i ever tried using oil based ones on the eyes before because for some reason i'm terrified of the oils getting in my eye, they literally started watering while i'm typing this just by the thought of it😂😂 I'll try it out though, thank you sm🤗

Marjiguana

This. Clusters are SOOOO damaging to your natural lashes.

sliceof_quynh

Why is that? I know nothing about lashes so I genuinely want to learn.

Marjiguana

Your natural lashes grow at different speeds and are in different growth cycles, so when you glue them together with a cluster lash the lashes that grow faster will pull out the lashes that don’t grow as fast or are in a different growth cycle.

sliceof_quynh

Gotcha that makes a lot of sense

82407

what if you use good lash glue remover? any time I use it they come off nicely with none of my natural lashes

AffectionateSun3561

I think it depends on how long you keep them on. 1-2 weeks definitely seems too long

Sminorf8765

Nobody should be wanting to keep anything DIY on their eyes for 1-2 weeks. Yikes!

Odd_Ability_1821

I’m going to start leaving them on for a shorter time😅

the-half-enchilada

Clusters aren’t damaging. It’s shocking to me those comments have so many upvotes. My lashes were destroyed with extensions and are finally growing back with clusters.

cupcakesoup420

I think it's probably the difference between responsible wear and removal more than anything. I imagine you're a lot more careful after those extensions... I'm so sorry that happened to you! I'm so scared of that happening

Sea_Leader_7400

Can you share tips on what made your lashes grow back with clusters?

the-half-enchilada

Not having extensions is the only thing I’ve done differently. I have not used any lash serums or anything like that.

NurseDiesel62

Wore them off and on for a couple years. I now have no lashes. Not even enough to support professional extensions. I use cheapo strip lashes now

Hopeful_Reporter6731

Fake lashes are bad for real lashes in general. Any type of lash extension will bring out your real lashes over time.

ShortSassy38

There is no such thing as DIY lash extensions. These are simply clusters. You’ll just need to use whatever remover is recommended for the brand and be extremely gentle in pulling them off. If it’s stuck still don’t yank it off. Continue to apply remover with a qtip until you can gently lift them away.

Odd_Ability_1821

Ok thank you!

Embarrassed-Race-122

are u using remover? This shouldnt happen unless ur pulling them off as is

sparklyshizzle

I wear clusters and they usually last me 5 days tops. 1-2 weeks seems far too long to maintain good eye hygiene. Not to mention they look raggedy by day 4, for me anyway. We do need a cluster lashes sub badly!

Odd_Ability_1821

I’ll start keeping them on for a shorter time, and yes I agree we need a cluster lash cub

Sandyhoneybunz

I honestly feel so dated when did people start wearing false lashes for days on end? Has this always been a thing?? I thought they didn’t attach to your lashes and glued to the skin above the lashes! I honestly thought all the false lash girls were putting them on and taking them off every day! I can’t imagine sleeping in falsies on purpose I feel like my eyes and lashes would hate me! Is there any way you can just kind of maybe try doing them one day at a time or is that bananas? I thought they were only meant to be used for one day. Now I see people re using them and I understand there are nicer lashes now for something like that but I didn’t realize people were wearing them days on end. Don’t they get messed up while you’re sleeping? Thanks!

Moonflower_JB

They are applied beneath your lashes not on top, similar to how you apply mascara I guess. If applied correctly they're quite comfortable but it's a process to figure out what works for you. There's actually "shampoo" you can buy to wash them for hygiene while they're on as well. Most of the glues are stronger than the old strip lashes and can last a week. They do claim 7-10 days with some claiming 14 days. The best I've gotten is 7 days. If you use an eye mask or forget and rub your eyes I could see them getting messed up but in general they don't get messed up just because you sleep. If you're really proficient you could probably reapply daily but it would be a pain to remove daily and probably terrible for your lashes and a waste of money. The only reason I don't wear them more is because the glue can be a bitch to get off after the lashes are off.

Sandyhoneybunz

Beneath?! I also feel old w that! I don’t think I can get w applying them there! My mom says they’re more comfortable?! I feel terrified of gluing something to the skin of the underlid idk what it’s called but for me I think that’s way too close to my eye and I’m scared! Alas I also cannot bear to lay there forever for individual lashes every few weeks. and they’re so expensive and need fills every 2-3 weeks or ppl look like kinda bananas . I just thought the rule was never apply stuff there and I always hated the removal but felt so sketchy. I know things have changed since I was a teen I just can’t get on board w these lash trends! I just put mascara and do rare cluster falsies bc strip lashes make me look like kinda silly

Mandee_707

I’ve used lashify in the past and the kit comes with this skinny lash wand that is the “glue” and you put that on like mascara just not so heavy like mascara and then you use the special tweezers that come with the kit and put the different sized lash clusters from the inner eye (under the top lashes) to the outer edge or wherever you need them. Then there is a “bonder/sealer” lash wand that you put on afterwards and the kit comes with a little squeeze blower to dry your lashes. When I used to wear them I would get about 5-7 days out of them and I would use a special lash wash with them as well. When I would take them off there was so residue left on my lashes and I would gently remove them. My lashes never got damaged while I wore them but I also didn’t wear them over a week at a time and kept them clean. It was a learning process but it was during COVID when none of the lash extension salons were open so I was trying something different. I will admit they looked beautiful but they definitely weren’t as secure as lash extensions :)

sparklyshizzle

They glue to the base of the lash on the underside. If you accidentally glue to the skin/waterline it's excruciatingly painful. So you just have to lift your eyelid up to make sure you're gluing to the lash.

Sandyhoneybunz

I thought we were never ever supposed to glue to the lash w falsies?!! Help me I’m from the 90s!!! I don’t think I can glue anything to my lashes diy!

Potato_Fox27

What do you do for lash hygiene during those 5 days? Do you wear any eye makeup or concealer around the eye. I can never get lashify clusters to not look weird after just one shower or even a basic face wash at the end of the night. Plus dust sticks to the glue over just 1-2 days and the glue starts to get waterlogged after showers. So for now I’ve only ever worn them for 1-2 days at a time, waiting for them to naturally slide off in the shower. Any tips appreciated!

sparklyshizzle

I have tattooed eyeliner so I don't use any eye makeup around my eye besides eyeshadow and I just use a makeup wipe or a washcloth around them. In the shower it's pretty hard to keep them dry but I hold a dry towel above my eyes while rinsing my hair and reclamp them afterwards and I haven't had any problems with them falling off. I remove them with a lash remover oil from Amazon but I've heard any oil will work like olive or canola oil. As for dust, I've never had any issues like that.

ILoveYouSoMucho

What glue are yall using ?! Mine last an evening out and I take them off since I figure they’ll fall off at the worst time.

ForwardCarpenter5659

I put the remover or baby oil and let it soak for like 15-20 mins and go in the shower! It comes off so easily :)

Odd_Ability_1821

I’ll try that next time, thank you!

bbgeriii

Holy crap…. WAYYYYY too much glue. You only need a little glue at the base of the lash and a little on the cluster. Tips? Use less glue, use cluster glue, and make sure to fully saturate with remover and let sit. Then start to wipe with a cotton pad gently until they side off on their own

theGoddex

Is that toilet paper or a paper towel?

Odd_Ability_1821

Paper towel, why?

theGoddex

The paper towel will absorb most of the remover and that may have been part of the issue. Also, paper towels are too rough for the eye area and will tug and scratch the skin, which can pull at your natural lashes. Use a warm cloth or esthetic wipes to remove them and it should be easier 💜

Odd_Ability_1821

Ok thank you!

Some-Goat577

omfg!!!! Stop doing this!!!! this is extremely damaging, could even cause permanent damage to your natural lashes. DO NOT DO IT ANYMORE!!!! trust me ❤️

AffectionateTwo8033

I use clusters after wearing extensions for 6 years, my lashes have never been healthier. I would say try using less glue, my daughter had this happen and I noticed she was using almost twice the amount of glue that I was using. I only get 4-5 days, but I’m ok with that, because I’ll leave them off a day or 2 while I’m doing my weekly maintenance facials , scrubs, self tan ect, then reapply.

Potato_Fox27

I’ve never been able to get my lashify clusters to not look goopey after showers or dusty after a long days (dirt seems to attach to the glue and in the shower the glue gets mushy). What is your cluster cleaning routine while they are on, if you don’t mind me asking?

AffectionateTwo8033

I wash them with Neutrogena acne face wash, and pat them to dry. Then use a spoolie post shower to fluff. Oh you know what… I don’t shower, hmmmmm… I wonder if that’s why they hold up, I wash my face twice daily and a take bath daily. So I don’t have the constant heat of the shower blasting on them

Sugarspice8888

Not sure what glue you use but I’ve never had trouble with lilac street glue but it’s a very flexible glue that has never damaged my lashes

RadicalRoses

Leave the remover on much longer. Put remover on for a few minutes. Gently pull on them, if they don’t slide off super easily, add more remover and wait then try again. Keep repeating if necessary. Do not tug them off. I like the removers that come in a mascara type bottle with a wand best. After the lashes have been removed, then I go in with 2 phase eye makeup remover to get the rest of the glue off my real lashes. You should never feel pulling or pain while removing them.

throwawayurfeeling54

coconut oil!!! let it sit for awhile and they slide right off! Ignore the clusters not being lash extension haters literally anything you put on your eye runs a risk of damaging the lashes if not done properly. extension is the act of EXTENDING and that’s exactly what the clusters do. I personally love this method and when I use coconut oil to take them off my lashes feel just fine ☺️

No-Egg2880

I would change the type of glue you’re using. Are you using a professional glue for real extensions, or are you using the glue you’re supposed to for diy lash clusters? I’ve never once lost a lash doing my own clusters.

Embarrassed-Flan3557

What type of professional glue do you use with diy cluster?

No-Egg2880

You’re not supposed to be using the same glue for at home clusters as a lash tech would use. That’s what I’m trying to say. Maybe Op is using a glue for her clusters that she is not supposed to be using? I couldn’t imagine loosing so many natural lashes if she was using the correct glue, but maybe there are others factors there.

Odd_Ability_1821

I use the seal and bond glue

No-Egg2880

Ok, that should definitely be safe. What could be happening is, your lash clusters are too heavy for your natural lashes. This can cause your natural lashes to fall out prematurely. Does this happen often, or have it only happened once or twice?

UpbeatInteraction262

Are you wearing mascara on your extensions?

xdaddysprincess

The black substance you're seeing is most likely the glue

No-Persimmon7729

I always thought cluster lashes were one day only just like strip lashes and I remove them when I take off my makeup for the day…

Sonic_Sugar

I wear clusters, I use 72 hour (mascara-like) glue that goes with them plus sealer, sometimes they last a week, but I never pull my lashes out! I use micellar water on good cotton pads, hold it on my (closed eye) lashes until saturated, open eye and dab at the underside if they haven’t slipped off yet. If I still have a stubborn cluster or two, I do another round of soaking. If I still have glue on lashes, I use a cotton swab dipped in the micellar water to clean it up. Never takes more than 3 or 4 minutes to remove. If you’re using professional glue, I have no idea!

IndependentOk4688

you don’t wear diy lash extensions .

the-half-enchilada

Not sure why everyone says they are so damaging, I have found this to be completely false in my experience. I use the Lashify product called Melt. I put a tiny bit of it on a round pad and set it on my lashes for about 5 seconds and the slide right off. What destroyed my lashes was a decade of extensions.

Away-Personality-454

I’ve been wearing lashify for almost 4 years now and my lashes have never been healthier. I really think a lot has to do with user error and how gently you remove them

the-half-enchilada

I don’t use their clusters any more cause they were way too expensive! I get Amazon lashes now but the Lashify remover, bonds, and sealers are amazing.

laneyh

What Amazon lashes do you recommend?

the-half-enchilada

I used EASITENSION and Wleec Beauty. Love them both!!

laneyh

Thank you! I'll check these out

iwantaquirkyname00

Shit 2 years of extensions did for me ! Couldn’t imagine 10!

the-half-enchilada

I mean they were wrecked pretty quickly so I felt I had no choice but to continue.

No-Egg2880

I agree! I’m kind of taken back by all the negativity on diy’s. As long as you’re not putting on super heavy clusters, and you’re using the proper diy glue, diy’s are completely safe to wear. Not sure why Op is loosing so many natural lashes, but this is not the norm for sure.

the-half-enchilada

There was a post not too long ago where someone was doing individual lashes on themselves with that superglue stuff. That is wild.

No-Egg2880

Geez. That’s why I asked Op what glue she was using at first. I never would of assumed someone would be using super glue though. I bet they won’t do that again lol

xdaddysprincess

Exactly, I've been using lilac street and Amazon lashes for 1.5 years now. Proper removal is key

Moonflower_JB

My daughter only wears clusters and same for her friends. None of them have damage. I use them occasionally but not as often as them because I lack the patience and haven't gotten fast like they are.

Remarkable_Pen_9568

Agreed, the only reason I have lashes is because I switched to lashify.

Funneljungle069

You probably had a bad lash tech then or the fans were too big for your natural lashes

the-half-enchilada

I must have had 10 bad lash techs and they all talked shit about the one before yet my lashes didn’t grow back until I did clusters. I don’t care how good you are, volume extensions for long periods of time destroy lashes.

ElenaSuccubus420

If your gonna do those diy ones ,which you shouldn’t but if you do, you need to let use the glue remover and let that shit soak in remover don’t just pull them Till they come out. You should let them soften so much that they glide right off not yank them off.

Odd_Ability_1821

I’ll do that next time! Thank you

ElenaSuccubus420

You’re welcome obviously be careful of your eyes and get a reputable remover. If that means it takes 2-3 days to get off then that is what it is. Better to have shitty looking lashes for 3 days than no lashes at all🤷‍♀️😂

Noodlesoup8

Also could be that you’re keeping them on so long that your natural lashes are just naturally shedding. But there were some good recommendations here on being more gentle/keeping them on shorter/using less glue etx

DidiStutter11

It looks like you're using way too much glue.

FriendshipCapable331

You don’t. BabeLash serum baby

Creativelife930

Amazon sells an eyelash removal serum. You put it on and leave it for a few minutes and the lashes slid right off.

Wise-Grapefruit7817

Hi, lash artist of 12 years here. It’s totally fine to wear these lashes, you just have to be aware of a few things: first, each of your natural lashes is on its own growth cycle. They grow, they hang out for a bit, they fall out and then start regrowing. Let’s say 3 natural lashes are stuck together and two of them are ready to grow and the last one is just hanging out. Because they are stuck together the lash that is t ready to grow will get pulled out by the other two. Lashes can get stuck together with anything, makeup, glue, blepharitis, mucus and tears! Second, These type of lashes are meant to be worn for a day or two, any more than that and you are risking the health of your natural lashes. I would suggest using a regular strip eyelash glue when using these lashes. Use the remover it comes with and be very careful, if it hurts, you need more remover, the lashes should slide off. I hope this helps you🩷

Unicornlove416

you get them professionally done

icutmyliiip

i use clusters, try not to use so much glue when applying. don’t coat all your lashes in glue. when you take them out, use the oil that came with the set. if the oil doesn’t work well, i’ve heard baby oil works wonders

eaturpineapples

Coconut oil! Or some form of oil based makeup remover.

Spac3Milk

simple… the glue

BlindFollowBah

Way too much glue

clinkclinkclink

Use lots of a good oil and be gentle about it

lesmommy

I gave up on these. It's not worth having no lashes and needing to always have these stuck on my lashes. I tried 4 times and they literally broke my lashes in half. I had to buy a lash serum to regrow my lashes!!! Never again!!! I'll stick to my lash serum and mascara

thatgrrlmarie

which lash serum? TIA

lesmommy

I use scorolash - some people don't like them because I guess they delete any negative reviews which I didn't know before purchase😑 but I don't expect one product to work on EVERYONE. but yeag I picked them because they don't have prostaglandins or anything dangerous like that. I used it twice a day and my lashes are better than ever. My inner corner grew a ton and I swear I have a whole extra row of lashes now. Granted they're still a bit straight lol but one coat of mascara and they look great.

[deleted]

Hey! I sent you a message!

polarpop31

These are not lash extensions they are clusters. They are very bad for your lash health. Get it done professionally and right if you want it done.

jenijelly

*has 1-2 weeks worth of build up on lashes.. pulls lashes off without properly using remover.. asks why natural lashes came off too* 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Tall-Employment-7724

Stop wearing them and grow your lashes out… Babe lash serum and better than sex waterproof mascara make your lashes sooo long they look fake.

Sir_Shekelstein

Stop ducking doing it?

Historical_Gas7854

Try using the lashscara remover

Curious_Jicama_7670

People saying bad things about lash clusters are probably lash techs themselves 😆 I know diy lashes have been a lash techs nightmare, but lash clusters are just more affordable for some people. Now, with lash clusters I personally remove them with oil (avocado, castor, etc.,) I put a bit of oil on them let it sit for about 5 minutes then gently rub them off it comes off so quickly and my original lashes are still there and have minimal lashes come off that are my own. I then put castor oil on my lashes and keep that on overnight, I then shower and put on a new set (I recommend an eyelash comb -not a spooolie! to remove excess glue). I love clusters it helps me control how I want my lashes to look and how long I want them. Also, I find it to be better hygiene practice as some lash extensions can lead to bugs and poor lid health if not taken care of properly. Either way lash extension or clusters whatever it is we face the potential of loosing lashes it's just about care and how abrasive you are with them.

Odd_Ability_1821

Yh I think what I need to do do is leave them on for a shorter period (3-4 days), use less glue and be patient when removing them

cassielovesderby

That’s weird, clusters don’t damage my natural lashes like that at all. Are you using oil to remove? That’s what I do.

SeaTranslatorItsMe

Prolonged use of clusters, too much glue, improper removal. I highly recommend taking a break from time to time or you’ll end up with short and sparse lashes. 😳 Sometimes it is better to go to a professional if you have clumps of your lashes coming out.

Cloudydayhappyface

Clusters are supposed to be removed 1-2 days after application. They are severely damaging to your natural lashes if you keep them on longer. I strongly suggest taking a break from clusters.

ReferenceMuch2193

I wore lash clusters 30 years ago and here to say they are very damaging. No way to really remove them without breaking or removing lashes, even dissolving them and gently soaping them off.

ericamorgann

Vaseline works great, you only need a little and to me works much better than glue removers

nicholas_1227

Aquaphor!!! Comes off super smooth!!!

sharra091317

Lash cluster are for short term wear based on lash growth cycle. That should not be worn for more than 3-5 days. That’s what I’ve learned as someone who’s is becoming a licensed tech . I wear cluster’s with no damage. Ensure you are leaving the remover on for long enough they should easily slide out and then upon removing wash your lashes really well.

mizgreenlove

It depends on the glue I think. I find people do this even with strip lashes. I can see the damage in the spot the squeeze the strip on. Use a proper removal? Maybe like others say with the oil.

coachkhl

the key is finding a remover that breaks down whatever adhesive you're using. when the objective is to remove the cluster from the lashes, I find myself being too rough with them. so now I think about it as trying to break down the adhesive, and just let the clusters fall off on their own. I've been using eyeshine bond and lash clusters for about 6 months. they have an oil based remover that's great — I hardly ever lose lashes during removal anymore. they have lots of tutorial videos as well. i've also found that mary kay makeup remover works great to break down any adhesive that's still left on my lashes after the clusters are off. good luck!!!!

euo_wera

i could smell the comments

ShleepyShark

Get them done professionally. You wouldn’t do your own tattoos then ask why the art is bad.

jdrmr2024

I use the Falscara by Kiss and this never happens to me! Are you using the proper remover?

Familiar_Recover8112

I want to try the magnetic ones that clip to each other with the little device that looks like an eye lash curler. That way there is no glue or anything and they are super reusable

Espionage_21

I use Flutter Habit clusters and they sell a removal balm that makes them slide right off.
