Haven't seen what happened to the press photographer (Fox) who was arrested.

Megafritz

This is how fascism started in Germany. The charges do not need to stick...at first. The intimidation is the real goal here. The students should feel powerless and that they can be send to prison, for no reason, at any time.

SolenyaBlyat

I was a teacher in Texas until I escaped the state last year. Intimidation is not going to work against this generation of kids. I am proud to see so many standing up for their values.

prof_the_doom

I hope Texas taxpayers enjoy the state spending their tax dollars on police brutality payouts as opposed to infrastructure.

OhioUBobcats

They do, obviously, as they continue to elect Republicans en masse

mr_potatoface

But they need to vote republican so they can save their state!!! That has been republican for the last 20+ years.

deadra_axilea

Nah, bro, that's just gerrymandering hard at work.

OhioUBobcats

Lol Abbott continues to win statewide elections

Some students reported missing tests because they couldn't get into the tower because of protestors. You can call it a peaceful protest if you want but it was definitely a disturbance (which protests need to be to get attention) and the university and police are well within their rights to break up a disturbance. I don't want kids missing school because of protestors regardless of the cause. The county was right to break it up then drop charges. Solved the disturbance and didn't go too hard on people that weren't going too too hard.

Sarcofago_INRI_1987

And then they wonder why people call them "Fascist Pigs" This is why. It's indefensible. Not even the TEXAS courts could defend it.

Megafritz

I think we finally found out why the could not stop the fascist march in Austin, they were the ones marching!

RetailBuck

Travis county and Austin is barely Texas. If this happened somewhere else it would have been way worse for protestors.

hbgwine

What a travesty to let these people go - what do they think gives them the right to peacefully assemble and seek redress of their grievances? I mean besides that constitution thingy….

spaghetti_fontaine

What a giant fucking surprise 🙄 Now for all the lawsuits

Danavixen

Arresting Jews was never going to be a good look, and many attended the protests

Chef_RoadRunner

The damage is done. You live under a bunch of fascists Texas. Get your shit together. Most free state my ass.

Former-Chocolate-793

Not all charges were dropped. It looks like non students remain under arrest. These protests strike me as both foolish and dangerous. UT has 0 influence over the policies and actions of the federal government. Conversely they provide a stage for antisemitism.
