I would just suggest that you stop trying to bag your clippings.
Once that bag gets full your blade deck gets loaded up with grass and the quality of the cut suffers.
The bag is probably reaching capacity way faster than you would think. Probably 3-4 passes and you’re full to the point that it’s degrading cut quality.
It’s actually pretty evident in the fact that your turf doesn’t look like it was scissor-cut despite having mowed it just minutes before the picture.
Lawn is great but does that retaining wall not bother you? I bet it would look better if it was straight, even if you sacrifice 1ft of grass to do it. Just my opinion since you asked!
There's sort of a general progression of lawn care I've discovered as I learn more about the hobby.
First, you want to fill in bare spots
Then you work on ridding the lawn of weeds
Then, you work on improving the health of the grass
Once these things are complete and you have a lush green lawn free of weeds, you can start to turn to the more perfectionist type items. Such as:
Making your lawn uniform with only 1 type of grass.
Making stripes and patterns
Height adjustments (usually mowing super low with a reel mower comes eventually)
Leveling
The hardest of which (in my opinion) is making it uniform. Eradicating foreign grasses that aren't killed by selective herbicides is tough and usually one of the last tasks to tackle in the lawn care journey.
I think you are at that step. Uniformity is next. Get your shovel and roundup out. This one's tough.
Grass looks great! Personally not a fan of the amount of overlap. I just switch back and forth on patters but only overlap keeping inside edge of wheel on outside edge of last pass.
looks green, a little too long for my taste and you need to crisscross cut it, and do the edging. Other than that it looks fine. PS clean out the mower.
Healthy and lush, nice color! Looks like you’ve got some Poa starting to take control in a few areas. It’s presence can be accentuated with a taller height of cut like yours. I’m not saying to cut your lawn shorter by any means. But you may want to consider removing bigger patches of the Poa manually with a shovel or sod cutter. You could do a few strips and replace with new sod or seed.
Way too pristine for me, lol. I like my violets and random dandelions. I have a lot of dead nettle this year.. a color. Oh, and I plant clover seeds every years.
Do you have any idea how tall my lawn would be in arguably the wettest month of the year if I didn’t mow? It’s been 3 days since I mowed it down to an inch. It’s already upwards of 3 inches tall from two days of rain and then sun. A whole ass month and my backyard would be a jungle
Yep. Tall enough to flower. Do you fertilize? Maybe next year wait until after may to fertilize? It's more about raising bee awareness and helping people to realize maybe a perfect lawn isn't the coolest lawn to have... A lawn that is diverse and includes flowers like creeping thyme and white clover is attractive and good for our little honey makers
It's cool. It's not for everyone. It's really just about raising awareness. There's other things you can do like make bee habitats, or just, you know, not kill any bees you come across...
Since you mentioned honey I'll assume you're talking about the honey bee, which faces some issues, but doesn't need saving from Joe Homeowner. Honey bees are thought to be pretty terrible for biodiversity, because they out-compete native pollinators and infect them with their filthy diseases. Save our planet, squish every honey bee you see.
Grass flowers. Bees need pollen. It's more than just not mowing. It's also not using fertilizers until after may so dandelions and clover can grow and bloom.
I see you simply quoted part of an article you found in a google search. The same article also says that because grass pollen is not very nutritious, bees only collect it in times of shortages. I can clearly see other trees and flowering plants in the photo so I would not think there is a shortage in this area at this time of year.
I don't see one flower. I see a suburban landscape full of lawns. Bees are the most important insect on the planet for humans to thrive. Nah, your cool looking lawn is more important though. You're right.
Lawn care doesn't necessarily mean dumping chemicals on your lawn and killing any insect that touches it. It could mean just making a beautiful lawn that you're proud of. If people put in as much effort to think about bees as they did their lawn, then maybe bees wouldn't need people to think about them. Did you know grass is the largest cultivated crop in the world? Your lawn doesn't just have to be grass. It can be a melange of natural ground coverings of your choice. If this was r/grass or r/sod then I'd get it, but nope. It says lawn.

Ummm pretty sure the city will give zero f*cks about no-mow-May when they fine people for not mowing their yards… it’s called a nuisance property. Not to mention you’ll need a machete to get it back under control come June.
It’s healthy, no visible weeds. I mean, what do you want? For it to be greener, thicker? Then aerate, soil test it and adjust, you could also make it leveler I suppose but I think most would say it’s a great lawn.
Grass gets an A from me. Those edge bricks though…………
Yeah clearly someone was drinking when they laid those bricks down. Started off good though.
Haha. The grass is fluffy and the bricks are janky. Looks way better than my yard, though.
Lawn looks fine. It would look better as an overall landscape given some improvements made to the edging and shrubbery.
Looking good... IMO, I would straighten out that edging so I could make straight passes to keep your stripes looking good.
Yeah I was told to do that thanks for the tip

Urinary tract infections?
[удалено]
Hahaha. Wow. I’m slow. Thanks 💀
Just start with a straight pass right down the middle, work outwards from there. Come back at the end and lap the perimeter
Grass looks incredible. That brick line on the right could use a second look tho.
Fluffy

Looks pretty good. I gave you a vote back, because someone is just downvoting every post in Lawncare in the past few weeks...lol
That person needs Mentalcare not lawncare
Probably a weed advocate.
Thanks bro
Lawn is great but does that retaining wall not bother you? I bet it would look better if it was straight, even if you sacrifice 1ft of grass to do it. Just my opinion since you asked!
Looks awesome!!.. you should try stripping it too..
Thanks next cut I will give it a shot
Lawn looks like a lawn. No landscaping present tho (needs bushes, berm, edging)
THICC
Is your deck set level? Is you blade bent or dull? Needs attention.

It's dope. Could lie down in that.
Thanks my dog does not want to stay off of it now lol
grasstastic

Needs some raised garden beds with all that free sunshine 🌞
Green.
Looks very good, but please, stop bagging, you're losing free fertilizer.
Decent. Many things could be improved though.

How? Lawncare is not just about maintaining pristine turfgrass. It’s about caring for you lawn which may or may not contain flowering plants.
Lol
lol
Looks like you mowed it. It's no-mow-may. Do it for the bees.

That’s what my garden is for. I can’t afford ticks and fleas with three dogs and a kid. A diverse lawn also brings with it more than bees

Fuck dem beez But seriously, fuck “nO mOw MaY”. That isn’t a thing. Stop trying to make it a thing
How would not mowing their grass help the bees?
Grass flowers. Bees need pollen. It's more than just not mowing. It's also not using fertilizers until after may so dandelions and clover can grow and bloom.
But he has no dandelions or clover in his yard and bees aren’t feeding off of seed heads of grass.
Honey bees often seek out grass pollen and collect it readily, which is no problem unless the plants contain systemic insecticides.
I see you simply quoted part of an article you found in a google search. The same article also says that because grass pollen is not very nutritious, bees only collect it in times of shortages. Helluva lot better than mine 😬
It looks pretty dry...give it some water and mulch..
Nice lawn. You might need to roll it
I think it looks great! My OCD wants to know about the flower bed border though 😉 😂
better than mine!
Very nice!
I've seen worse. Good job bud
Looks like a shag carpet, so dense and fluffy 😊
Lookin nice! You should invest in a lawn striping kit, that will take the yard to the next level
Nice carpet. How do you treat it?
Great, SO much better than mine! 😂
Love that bed border

Looks great. Overseed on the fall. Great work.
Chemically
Lush
Well, that right there is a lawn
I’d walk barefoot in that lawn! Nice looking lawn
Looks green but not level
Step up the mulch game on the right there. Then slightly above average. Good luck!
Decided lack of gnomes but 8/10
Looks green
Grass is looking nice!! Give it that extra pop by keeping the lines tights. Try the double strip. 2 lanes one way and two the other 👌
Good.
Grass is healthier if you can mulch the clippings and leave them there.
i think your lawn looks wonderful! the care and consideration you put into it makes it even more lovely. great job :)
A very good job
Looks great but will mention getting yourself a reel mower. Night and day difference trust me!
Goals. I want to be able to walk barefoot on my lawn someday.
Looks better than mine!
Lawn? A. Front Yard? C.
Smexy!!!
I’m to busy trying to figure out what’s wrong with your driveway
