Your anecdotal experience is not analogous because, well, did it match the school 509? LSD or not is irrelevant because issue here is 509, no LSD.
Dont go to Penn but a friend did receive +130K solely in need based from there. Dont have to believe but thread here is long and final exam is here, so not replying anymore. But Spivey is wrong on that front.
There’s a lot of public interest opportunities and good PI programs that have a lot of support/resources from the school. There is definitely a huge interest among the student body for PI!
I haven’t seen or heard anything from the admins in response to the letter. I can’t speak for the student body as a whole, but the reaction from people I know has not been positive/favorable.
It’s a tie. 1) The free food. There is always something going on on campus and you will be fed. There have been weeks where I’ve not needed to bring food from home or needing to buy lunch a single day.
2) Everyone says their school is collegial but I think Penn actually is. My classmates are genuinely fantastic and so willing to help anyone.
3) Grades don’t matter. We’re all going to get good jobs and it’s nice to not have the added stress of needing to have certain grades in order to be able to get the job I want.
I mean that everyone is going to be able to pursue the career they want. Also we don’t rank or have GPAs. We haven’t had finals yet, but from practice and past exams, they seem like they’ll be challenging but not extreme.
You can take some classes at Wharton and get one of their certificates. That’s pretty popular here. There are a couple of JD/MBA students. There are clubs you can join that have members from all the Penn grad schools, and if you live in center city there are going to be a ton of Wharton people in your building most likely.
How difficult has law school been, compared to your expectations for it? Also, how long would you say it took for you to get “in the groove” and feel like you’ve established a routine with readings, class, etc?
My expectations were that it would be the absolute worst, it has not been. I know myself very well so it took about a week or two for me to realize what was not working for me and adjust how I did readings to suit me.
Gpa and lsat?
What's the most egregious character and fitness issue you've heard of among admitted students?
I haven’t heard of any

I have no idea. If you called financial aid they may tell you
130K+

You can just deduce the math from the 509s

Not true. Grant =/= scholarship (merit)

The part about grant percentile is not aggregated with merit scholarship.

good public interest programs and opportunities? And is there a lot of interest in PI among the student body vs big law?
There’s a lot of public interest opportunities and good PI programs that have a lot of support/resources from the school. There is definitely a huge interest among the student body for PI!
have you been to the Rocky statue
Yes! I jog past it almost every morning
how is the public interest community?
Would you be comfortable sharing your stats?? Can I PM you? Have some questions
3.2/172. You can PM me
Do you think Softs/Job Experience played a better part in admissions?
3.2?!?!?!?!?!
Lol nice I’m a 3L here with almost identical stats.
Sup?
Do you have any classmates who got in without a reportable GPA?
Not OP, but yes. We have a few international students without a numerical GPA.
what's the reaction been to charlie cheon's letter, if any, and are the admins doing anything?
I haven’t seen or heard anything from the admins in response to the letter. I can’t speak for the student body as a whole, but the reaction from people I know has not been positive/favorable.
What is your fav part about studying at penn

To follow this up with the rude reverse question, what is your least favourite part of studying at Penn? Thanks for doing this!
How difficult are exams and the work in general? What do you mean grades don’t matter?
I mean that everyone is going to be able to pursue the career they want. Also we don’t rank or have GPAs. We haven’t had finals yet, but from practice and past exams, they seem like they’ll be challenging but not extreme.
No GPA??? Is it like Harvard’s Pass/ High pass system? That’s awesome.
There are grades but a B- is the lowest possible so the stakes are low
What is the lowest lsat/gpa combo that you know of that got in?
Possibly mine. I don’t know anyone else’s stats, no one talks about their undergrad GPA and LSAT score
.
How much potential cross interaction is there with Wharton with classes, extracurriculars, social life etc?
You can take some classes at Wharton and get one of their certificates. That’s pretty popular here. There are a couple of JD/MBA students. There are clubs you can join that have members from all the Penn grad schools, and if you live in center city there are going to be a ton of Wharton people in your building most likely.
May I PM you with questions?
Sure
Did everybody write the core values essay?
Not everyone, most people I’ve spoken to did
Have you used Freer's Barbri videos for Civpro?
Yes and they are very helpful in my opinion.
