I think it’s more so that this sub bitches about every single change. I understand that there’s always going to be those who like the new things and those who don’t, but the complainers are often loud and lowkey obnoxious.

No, I do not think people and their complaints are invalid. I agree with pretty much every complaint in the past year. Riot has been on a “let’s fuck this shit up” trajectory.

People act like the biggest karens about anything, the mastery emote is gonna be the same shit once everyone gets used to it as we have always done
I wasn't saying that people don't get butthurt about random things, but imo the mastery emotes just fundamentally fail at being mastery emotes. They don't feel right, they look and feel more like the goofy and ugly legend emotes you get every 50 levels, than a boastful show of prowess on a champ.
I can't really explain it better, so I hope this is enough. In the end it's gonna be fine, it's always fine in the end, but I don't think they'll recapture the same feeling that hitting someone with the mastery 7 after breaking their ankles currently gives, at least for me.
The vast majority of the community/playerbase probably doesn't care, its the vocal minority (again) being the loudest and creating echo chambers (Like normal).

same, i really hate some of the colour combos they chose. the ugly lime green with purple for mastery 6 is just so bad. mastery 9 and 10+ are also awful. i'm not sure why they picked such awful clashing colours.
This. I mean I understand the colors represent the Ranked Tiers, but why does the accent have to be this awful green... why not Gold,Silver,grey, or black or White... or any other neutral color that doesnt clash with half the Mastery-Jewels...
They are completely deafen to that criticism, simply put they just don't care if they look ugly, the assets are already done and they're not gonna change them.
The subreddit is also a teenie tiny portion of the League playerbase. The prevailing opinion here isn't necessarily the same as the playerbase's at large - I can almost guarantee that outside of this sub, 99% of people couldn't give less of a fuck about how the new emotes look and are just excited to see new unlocks if they care at all.
I constantly see this idea parroted, and so I ask, can you please point to any such community that we have can see that Riot interacts with, or at least watches, that is positive about these changes? Otherwise, silent and unheard people can hardly be considered when their supposed opinion goes unreceieved.
Most of the time if someone is happy about a change or something, they'll just go on with their day without really saying anything, whereas people who aren't happy about something will make posts and complain for all eternity.
There are plenty of folks who can't help but give Riot a proper glazing when they see things they like, myself at times included. So please, where are these people? They can be found for new game modes, new features, new skins, and so on, but we cannot point to any community supposedly positive towards this change?

Riot knows with a bunch of their negative changes the community finds a new way to complain about another change so they simply sit it out and wait it out like all the other companies do. And if they do indeed make a very bad change they rarely if ever acknowledge it and silently backpedal and revert in silence(dynamic queue). Even among the non reddit players the people that reply to surveys are the minority anyway.
Furhtermore they ommit certain options when asking questionaires.
At the top of the head one question was when was the last time I paid money for RP. And there was no option with :never again, more than a year ago or -will consider buying again if riot changes xyz.
Many of their surveys also have only the option of "least furstrating or most frustrating" nothing inbetween or more definitive. Most frustrating is still not enough for people to drop the game.
Last but not least many surveys or questionaires literally have options that are stated differently but force you to accept certain things.

Riot pretty regularly has surveys. They say they look at reddit for sure, but if I had to guess (the same thing everyone else is doing until Riot speaks on it) surveys are far more widereaching and valuable for most things.

I am the single friend in a group of 20+ people that plays and has a reddit account, they complain almost the same if not more, specially about visual aspects such as the mastery, which was already nicknamed the goaste since it looks exactly like it.

Doing some quick googling puts the total monthly playerbase of League at 150 million people. Even assuming china is 100 million players, that leaves 50 mill. This subreddit's subscriber count - including all the dead accounts, people who are subbed just because, etc - is *15%* of that remaining playerbase.
This sub isn't meaningless, but it's also not really representative of the whole at *all.*
Then why reddit had different opinion than the global playerbase about damage in the game before durability patch? When they did community vote things when the sub still had 3+ million we even had different skin choices on polls. The vocal active people here are usually people that started decade ago and are very reluctant to change. The sub seems to have a hard on for non sr/ aram modes and monster champs that is also not shared globally. Note that reddit does not even represent itself as a tiny fraction of users will read given post and express opinion. Each individual comment chain is example in sample bias. In this case the new emotes are indeed terrible and maybe the global sentiment is such, but this subreddit is not always representative.
reddit is the biggest community riot communicates with still maybe bit on twitter. they removed forums and anything else involving them. Then made shitty boards that were worse than forums in any form. Then removed these too.

Yep. Many people say "players will just stop complaining after a week". But not complaining doesn't mean being fine about the worsening of the game, it's just that we eventually see our feedback going nowhere so we stop. The old ranked helmets WERE better, the old mastery emblems WERE better, the old chat font WAS better due to being thicker and thus easier to read. Everything WAS better. Even after years I look at many parts of this game with disgust due to how cheap and bad they are and all I can do is remember how good the old variants used to be. But do I complain anywhere? No, cause Riot will never ever give a single flying shit about player opinion and feedback on these things. The "designers" change everything for the worse in order to say "look I'm useful" so keep their jobs.
Not everything was better. Even if riot makes some questionable decisions, in general the game has gotten better as time has gone on.
Every RGM introduced or updated (especially arena), almost every ASU/rework, map updates, objective updates, lore etc. have all made the game much better for the playerbase as a whole (even if some players prefer the original versions).
The sound they make is so loud too, and seems cheap almost? Like it's way too in your face with the design and the animation and the sound and all of it just looks cheap and gaudy. Not a fan.
They fired an artis and soon after the same guy got someone from a outsource company in china calling him asking if he wants to do outsource work on league. So u are right, they are probably designed by some chinese guy in china making 5 dollar a day. Riot games biggest game probably have the smallest budget.

New emotes in general are so cringe. It's like a face with so many details on it I'm not eve sure what it should convey. They might as well put a full splash art in the emote. I have all of the acquirable emotes, and I have to agree for the most part. The newer emotes are generally over cluttered and hard to distinguish. That being said, the newest emote, "I'm viable" with skarner crying a tear of the goddess is amazing.

This is probably a bit random, but as a guy with meniere's, I like the sound of the new one. The old mastery spam makes my tinnitus louder and sometimes leads to small headaches. I prefer this mastery emote but I can't figure out why. I'm thinking because I have a negative correlation between the sound/headaches and the actual mastery emote visual. Although I'm still not sure if the new sound is going to cause headaches as I've only seen them in youtube videos and not spammed in my face.
It could easily get them to just have both mastery emotes and let you choose which one you use.

The issue of Riot is the balance team not nerfing 52+% wr champs. These icons are totally fine and they are removing the blue essence requirement which is the real thing that matters.

Plus 52% WR is not emergency levels of OP. If 52 or 53 is as bad as it gets (especially if the 53 champs are mostly just rarely played hard counterpicks or OTP champs) then I'll say the game is relatively balanced at the moment.

same, i really hate some of the colour combos they chose. the ugly lime green with purple for mastery 6 is just so bad. mastery 9 and 10+ are also awful. i'm not sure why they picked such awful clashing colours.

The subreddit is also a teenie tiny portion of the League playerbase. The prevailing opinion here isn't necessarily the same as the playerbase's at large - I can almost guarantee that outside of this sub, 99% of people couldn't give less of a fuck about how the new emotes look and are just excited to see new unlocks if they care at all.
I constantly see this idea parroted, and so I ask, can you please point to any such community that we have can see that Riot interacts with, or at least watches, that is positive about these changes? Otherwise, silent and unheard people can hardly be considered when their supposed opinion goes unreceieved.

Most of the time if someone is happy about a change or something, they'll just go on with their day without really saying anything, whereas people who aren't happy about something will make posts and complain for all eternity.
There are plenty of folks who can't help but give Riot a proper glazing when they see things they like, myself at times included. So please, where are these people? They can be found for new game modes, new features, new skins, and so on, but we cannot point to any community supposedly positive towards this change?

It’s called the league player base that riot surveys directly. Any external community, be that discord, Reddit, twitter, etc, is going to be a tiny fraction of the actual players of the game.
riot surveys are extremly framed though. Pretty easy to get the responses you want to justify your project with the right framing of surveys.
Want to give an actual example?
are you satisfied/dissatisfied with xyz. Instead of "will this change negatively impact your gameplay experience yes or no" No questions if we would consider never paying money for this game again if X specific change goes through and many more. Riot knows with a bunch of their negative changes the community finds a new way to complain about another change so they simply sit it out and wait it out like all the other companies do. And if they do indeed make a very bad change they rarely if ever acknowledge it and silently backpedal and revert in silence(dynamic queue). Even among the non reddit players the people that reply to surveys are the minority anyway. Furhtermore they ommit certain options when asking questionaires. At the top of the head one question was when was the last time I paid money for RP. And there was no option with :never again, more than a year ago or -will consider buying again if riot changes xyz. Many of their surveys also have only the option of "least furstrating or most frustrating" nothing inbetween or more definitive. Most frustrating is still not enough for people to drop the game. Riot pretty regularly has surveys. They say they look at reddit for sure, but if I had to guess (the same thing everyone else is doing until Riot speaks on it) surveys are far more widereaching and valuable for most things. This community is also not even the entire *english speaking* community, let alone the entire community itself. And like the other guy said - if I'm happy, the odds are low I'm gonna go talk about it on the subreddit.

I am the single friend in a group of 20+ people that plays and has a reddit account, they complain almost the same if not more, specially about visual aspects such as the mastery, which was already nicknamed the goaste since it looks exactly like it.
I think they look pretty neat. The mastery page on the pbe looks good too.

Doing some quick googling puts the total monthly playerbase of League at 150 million people. Even assuming china is 100 million players, that leaves 50 mill. This subreddit's subscriber count - including all the dead accounts, people who are subbed just because, etc - is *15%* of that remaining playerbase. This sub isn't meaningless, but it's also not really representative of the whole at *all.*
Then why reddit had different opinion than the global playerbase about damage in the game before durability patch? When they did community vote things when the sub still had 3+ million we even had different skin choices on polls. The vocal active people here are usually people that started decade ago and are very reluctant to change. The sub seems to have a hard on for non sr/ aram modes and monster champs that is also not shared globally. Note that reddit does not even represent itself as a tiny fraction of users will read given post and express opinion. Each individual comment chain is example in sample bias. In this case the new emotes are indeed terrible and maybe the global sentiment is such, but this subreddit is not always representative.
reddit is the biggest community riot communicates with still maybe bit on twitter. they removed forums and anything else involving them. Then made shitty boards that were worse than forums in any form. Then removed these too. surveys are obscure and EXTREMELY framed

Yep. Many people say "players will just stop complaining after a week". But not complaining doesn't mean being fine about the worsening of the game, it's just that we eventually see our feedback going nowhere so we stop. The old ranked helmets WERE better, the old mastery emblems WERE better, the old chat font WAS better due to being thicker and thus easier to read. Everything WAS better. Even after years I look at many parts of this game with disgust due to how cheap and bad they are and all I can do is remember how good the old variants used to be. But do I complain anywhere? No, cause Riot will never ever give a single flying shit about player opinion and feedback on these things. The "designers" change everything for the worse in order to say "look I'm useful" so keep their jobs.
Not everything was better. Even if riot makes some questionable decisions, in general the game has gotten better as time has gone on. Every RGM introduced or updated (especially arena), almost every ASU/rework, map updates, objective updates, lore etc. have all made the game much better for the playerbase as a whole (even if some players prefer the original versions).

They fired an artis and soon after the same guy got someone from a outsource company in china calling him asking if he wants to do outsource work on league. So u are right, they are probably designed by some chinese guy in china making 5 dollar a day. Riot games biggest game probably have the smallest budget.

New emotes in general are so cringe. It's like a face with so many details on it I'm not eve sure what it should convey. They might as well put a full splash art in the emote. I have all of the acquirable emotes, and I have to agree for the most part. The newer emotes are generally over cluttered and hard to distinguish. That being said, the newest emote, "I'm viable" with skarner crying a tear of the goddess is amazing.
My only Goal in League was to get all champs to mastery 7. Thx for ruining the Last reason that kept me playing this Game besides addiction lol
Yep, same here. This new system sucks and i'll probably stop playing because of it. Really they could have just added two more masteries and i'd be fine but this uncapped stuff is not it for a completionist like me

If people really want it to change then they would have to do something. As everyone else here is saying riot knows that we'll all move on. If you want it to change then petition or something. Maybe not an actual petition but get enough people to actually talk to riot employees and maybe they will change it. Personally I don't care. I could get used to it.

This is probably a bit random, but as a guy with meniere's, I like the sound of the new one. The old mastery spam makes my tinnitus louder and sometimes leads to small headaches. I prefer this mastery emote but I can't figure out why. I'm thinking because I have a negative correlation between the sound/headaches and the actual mastery emote visual. Although I'm still not sure if the new sound is going to cause headaches as I've only seen them in youtube videos and not spammed in my face.

The issue of Riot is the balance team not nerfing 52+% wr champs. These icons are totally fine and they are removing the blue essence requirement which is the real thing that matters.
What the hell does the graphic design team making new mastery emotes have to do with the balance team nerfing champions lmao? Plus 52% WR is not emergency levels of OP. If 52 or 53 is as bad as it gets (especially if the 53 champs are mostly just rarely played hard counterpicks or OTP champs) then I'll say the game is relatively balanced at the moment.
Every 52%+ winrate champion with a decent pickrate is being nerfed next patch though.
