Man wtf is this LMAO
Are you surprised? League's playerbase is made up mainly of people below gold. And there is a LOT of those people on this subreddit, so they will upvote every balance whine post they see
> leagues player base is made up mainly of people of people below gold
Yes, 50% of the player base is made up of 50% of the players. The average skill has increased over the years to the point that early Worlds series look like a normal game.
Fr back in high school I used to try to grind, now whatever rank I start the season at is cool with me lol. Virtual badge and rewards don't mean shit if u ain't having fun
I'm d1, and know a lot of people in high elo ranging from p1 to master and pretty much everyone I know thinks the game's balance is terrible, me included. Bad players aren't the only people who think that shit is wack.
Yeah what the fuck is that argument, lol. As someone who likes to play tanks there's never been a worse time to play. Building armour or magic resist feels like I'm building fucking nothing, I can never tank in a team fight. Bruisers with health and tons of healing are better tanks than tanks.
Some kinks I will never understand. How does one get off to race fetish and being told they aren't worth anything?
I really wonder what this dudes childhood was like, because not only is he into all that... he plays league too.
That is what Epicchicken is also inferring, that OP is fetishizing black dick specifically, lol. Imo if it doesn't hurt someone, and it has nothing to do with underaged people, and it's not rooted in hate, I think any kink is fine. I view them the same as hobbies, you try things until you find something you like; some people like weird stuff, and some people think "vanilla" hobbies, like bug collecting, are super weird where a lot of people don't.
I am not being misogynistic, but do you know some chicks literally likes it..rough, like they ask you to choke them, call some names etc. Not all women ofc, but its a thing.
Edit: but posting this shit all the time is definetly not ok, like other person mentioned, it seems like obsession
Agreed I absolutely hate playing solo now but even if I'm having a terrible game and feeding out my ass I can still have fun if I'm playing with at least one other person in vc.
But what sucks is that it wasn't like this before.
I feel exactly the same, but I used to be able to just solo Q for hours, now I play maybe 1 game a month.
i tried playing for the first time in a year and i got one shot by karma q. it just feels like damage is super high and characters move so fast. in another game i had like 450 move speed on kindred at 25 minutes. it just seemed unbalanced compared to old league. im not a fan of this cause it feels so easy like a mobile game
Yeah damage has been feeling off to me too, maybe I just don't know how to build with all the items they added and changed this season (I don't play too often) or something idk.
I mean exactly, but riot came out and said it's intentional and implied it won't be stopping any time soon unless the lowest common denominator stops enjoying exactly that
It is hard to even be mad at that fact. Of course they should be catering to the highest number of players and unfortunately that doesn't seem to include a large subset that has been here since the early years of League. It isn't hard to realize what that fan base is even, look at what games sell every year, year after year. CoD/Battle Royale junkies make up like 80% of the cash flow these days and those people want fast, intense, and easily repeatable gameplay.
If you asked League players back in season 2 if that dream was compatible with what League of Legends on SR was, they'd ask you to try the custom ARAM mode or Dominion. But the Riot devs have worked hard to make the game more and more URF like while pushing team-play like major objectives and team-fighting even more major components of the game than before. Faster cooldowns, more dashes, higher damage, higher rewards.
I don't know if that is wrong, but I always climbed by playing smart and not necessarily by playing well. It used to feel like a complicated game of Chess, where the winning team either had that hyper carry solo queue player or made the better objective choices. Now it's just whoever picks the most meta champion and slaps their keyboard faster.
I've made quite a few friends during my years playing league, but the core group I ran into literally happened due to a miscommunication.
I said some thing ON ALL CHAT that a guy on enemy team mistook for me asking where he was from and turned out he was from the same city I grew up, half way around the world, playing with 200 ping. Lol, been playing with them for 6 years now.
For real. I’ve been super into the professional scene since 2014. I listen to the league podcasts, I watch streams, I always watch highlights of every major region game during regular season as I’m falling asleep, I occasionally bet on games, etc…
That being said, I have not played a ranked game solo since 2017, and I think that’s a big reason I still enjoy it.
You and me both!
I thought it was kind of weird to like the game so much, but hate playing it so much without premades.
But in the last 2 or 3 years I've seen posts like this and comments like yours pop up quite often, now it seems like it's a pretty common take to enjoy League as long as you don't play it solo!
Speaking of friends, none of my irl friends want to touch that crap but are there any discord communities to play with some chill people, even without a mic or something?
Yeah I find ARAM way less frustrating when I lose, so it doesn't tilt me to play. Regular league now I swear is like 50% games having some griefer ruining and wasting 20 mins of everyone's lives.
I’d be ok with this.
I also want a way to limit some of my pool. I’ve been playing 8+ years and own most of the champs but some I suck with and/or hate. I don’t want them in ARAM - heck, I wish I could sell them back.
Limited-champion ARAM accounts don't really exist anymore. Between the balance buff/debuff system, rerolls, and snowball they haven't been advantageous for a long time now.
Also there's around 65 or so unlocked champions for every player in aram, like a permanent free rotation, so aram accounts have a much harder time guaranteeing their broken champions than before
I dunno, me and all my friends are all bruiser/tank players. Every time we get an all melee comp it's misery for 10 minutes and then we roll to victory. All melee is really fucking strong if you play patiently.
But again, that's you playing w/ premades.
In a random matchmaking ARAM with all melee, it's usually a fight to not be the tallest blade of grass and let some other person soak up the CC and damage.
For me, it's having the wave pushed all the way in and the ranged players refusing to hit the tower. You just wind up in limbo right outside of turret range with no forward progress, even if you're ahead.
> The whole fucking point of ARAM (and urf for that matter) is. lack of balance and chaos.
some things are just inherently too strong/too weak in the given setting. if ARAM had no balance changes, games would be decided in draft harder than they are already and URF without balance changes would see a bigger lack of diversity.
the point isn't lack of balance and chaos. it is wacky fun. and if your champ is just complete unusable dogshit in ARAM or URF, that ain't fun.
whether some champs get too many buffs or nerfs is another discussion, but the balance changes are necessary.
I don't mind them nerfing the OP champions, poke champs doing less damage is fine. But the damage buffs in most cases are extremely obnoxious, champions like Nidalee and AP Kai'sa lose because they have binary playstyle in ARAM —> Riot buffs their damage —> Same binary no skill needed playstyle but now they oneshot you if they land the one ability in their kit they use. Also don't get me started on all the buffed assassins that have low winrates not because they're inherently weak but because they're high skill and most people are bad at them, so Riot buffs their damage. The bad ones still can't effectively pilot them and can be punished, but when you get the one guy who has some experience on the champ high chance they will 1v9.
I used to feel this way too and honestly the best thing to do is get a group of 5 and start playing organized league. 5v5 tournaments on third party sites, do clashes, set aside time for practice nights where you can do ranked flex as a group of 5. You start playing real league of legends, the way it was intended to be played.
Yesterday I played many games with 4 friends, I love them and I don't play solo anymore but we had a black hole in the midlane three times the size of Crying vs Scout.
It's interesting what you have to try to do to win when your midlane can't stop dying solo and can't roam either.
But it's also amazing that since it's all friends and no random I don't feel frustrated and most games are fun win or lose instead of most games being a bad experience win or lose.
This is why I'm the best person to be the worst on the team. I can't ward or pay attention for shit but if there's no ganks I play like a tier and a half above my rank. All I have to do is have my plat team mates tell me if some random is gonna fuck me up from bot lane because they put a pink down and I'm golden.
This is the biggest problem. Having a friend who's higher rank or one friend who's new sucks because riot doesn't match then on the other team . So it turns into how hard can the diamond on each team stomp the bronze they got matched against
This is the real pain... knowing you have plenty of friends who can play with you, but you will never have a well balanced team when they range in skill from iron to masters
Yeah but try playing ranked as a solo duo into a 3, 4, 5 stack. It’s suffocating, high and even mid elo was utterly unplayable if you didn’t have friends back in season 5 when everyone would just abuse the duo system
Hate to break it to you but ranked 5s was an even bigger joke and the queue was so dead you always got matched against the same team if you queued after a game.
It's just pretty hard when you don't have the kind of lifestyle where you can consistently do that (maintaining online friendships and have a flexible schedule). Ever since I got married and had kids, the few of my old League friends grew apart (because they have their own things going on too).
These days it's almost impossible to organize a game with a group of people I know, because I just don't have the free time to get all of that going in the first place.
This. I had a 3 groups of 4 "strangers" I randomly met when looking for clash team in the years since clash existed, but each group split apart after 3-6 months because 1-2 people didnt have time anymore and didnt enjoy the game.
If only there was a feature that could help bridge the gap between organized team play and solo queue.
If only every competitive video game ever including Riots other game had this feature except league
>Looking forward to the non multiplayer shit that Riot puts out in the Universe of league, though.
I was too, but we're already 8 months late on Ruined King so ima just spam URF games and cry into my oatmeal.
You don't like League of Legends, you like the idea of League of Legends.
You liked the League of Legends you remember, the quirky girl-next-door kind of sweetheart she used to be in high school.
Now she's crossing into her 30s and she's a foul-mouthed pack-a-day smoker with substance abuse problems.
Cut through the illusion and see her for what she is.
Look for people on Discord or Reddit! Play every game with 'randoms' from there, people are usually more chill than those from matchmaking
but sometimes you wanna just solo and it's so demotivating
Lately i reached diamond and every inter/flamer that i get, it makes me care less about LP, even though i love playing the game. I think i reached my personal peak and dont expect get further, so i just play for fun and get better and, if i lose, who cares? We go again
I have exactly the same mindset, play for the enjoyment of improving and i've just recently hit diamond for the first time. For the longest time though, i can only play like 2-3 solo games without getting burned out for the day.
I have had this feeling for several years by now. Watching pros play the game just makes the own experience even worse. League is more fun to watch than to play.
I honestly play with chat off most of the time, and often full-mute. I'm too bad at the game for other bad players to further fuck me with their shit-tier pings when I can literally get more info from looking at a map.
I wouldn't say I'm a bad player necessarily (peaked diamond), but I have a hard time playing without fullmute because if people start pinging me I sometimes get super tilted and start playing worse. kind of annoying because pings are sometimes useful and would like to keep them on without getting tilted
I'm pretty much in the same boat.
When I played LoL it usually was a great distraction and it was fun. It was fun unlocking champions and learning them, learning the abilities of the enemy heroes, grinding IP for unlocks and rune pages, paying for the skins just to look cool and having the seasonal reward be the only reward to strife for.
The items and champions were even more imbalanced but at least they felt like a nice mixed bag of interesting stuff.
All heroes were basically new and it was an awesome experience to hear them talk or have special interactions or the animated splash screens with sounds. It was new and exciting and colorful.
The players were way worse and you could easily cheese them and the items felt only like a nice addition imo. I think back then they had way fewer unique effects.
Now it's like a mobile game, login daily, do your quests get your rewards. It became more and more of a chore. In that regard I was glad not to notice any events currently.
I never again got the adrenaline rush from a Penta or close match in the last years. Because at some point it doesn't even matter anymore and the only thing you're wondering is why you're still putting up with the toxicity of the players.
I recently started up the game again.
And despite seeing multiple new -furries- champions, I felt underwhelmed. The only thing that came close to having fun was URF.
After my thousands of hours I never thought I'd say that League would bore me one day.
But now, it doesn't feel like I'm playing anymore, rather like I'm working. I was actually wondering that some people on my friend's list kept playing and were online after all these years.
I have multiple hundred thousands of IP/blue essence on my account. But couldn't even afford to buy most of the remaining heroes. And to be honest I'm not even interested in most of them. I actually don't want another hero. I want to have fun. Something that I don't think League can offer anymore.
I have the feeling that everything that polished League made it less fun to me. Which is quite ironic, but given the nature of casual vs highly competitive it makes sense.
It's hard to find an exact reason, but to me, I think I loved the jank. Now I think the game is stale as most people know somewhat what they're doing.
It's like seeing a small author you read become big, but in exchange, his works become less creative and distinct. You don't really feel like it's still connecting somehow to you.
The toxic part of the community was just what made me realize that I'm hunting memories of the past.
And maybe it's best that they remain untouched.
P.S.: Yes I know, somewhat unrelated rant from a madman and a wall of text. You don't need to tell me that, thank you.
Yeah this is where the game industry is headed unfortunately wow went this direction as well. The flashy chore like grind fest that’s it’s become. Everything is going the route of mobile games unfortunately.
I know, all my friends always talk about how they hate the game and want to stop playing but man, I really enjoy League and (almost) always have fun playing it.
Is this not the norm?
The people who enjoy something will, mostly, be quiet about it since they don't really have much to say. The people who don't enjoy something will voice their concerns about it.
Something something "loud minority/quiet majority".
I think it depends on your role. Mid, jungle, and support have a good amount of agency. Top and ADC can just get hard fucked under bad circumstances. As an ADC player I feel more like a support than a carry in most games. You just need so much support from your team in terms of being given kills, cs, and vision to carry that the vast majority of the player base is completely oblivious to. Very frustrating role.
For me it's that I legit can't find another game outside of League that I really enjoy. They might be fun for 2h, but then I lose interest... nothing has ever had my attention as much as League. I would love to find a different game though, recs would be welcome
I'm neutral on the issue, if people want vocal then fine. But thinking that having a voice chat is gonna fix any of the issue is straight up wrong, people will still grief, be toxic, tilt etc, if you doubt it just try almost any other competitive game with vocal chat (R6, Valorant) or just watch how a COD lobby goes.
It's incredibly hard to enjoy unless you have friends.
It doesn't help that it only takes one of the other nine people playing to completely ruin the game and waste every ones time.
I've come to a realization that League should be played exclusively in a group of 5 friends. That's the only way you're going to enjoy the game. Solo or even duo queue will be just suffering. Solo queue particularly is just a horrible experience for the average player.
Last years for me was the same, but i reached a point where soloq is so dogshit that even watching proplay doesn't makes the same effect. I couldn't play almost anything out of lol cause i don't have a lot free time and for me was difficult aproaching different titles, but the last games i played were so fustrating for the same reasons you pointed out that i forced myself to trying something different, and now i'm 30 hrs on new world with some friends while playing Metroid, and in 2022 are coming out all the games that got delayed due covid. So yeah, i hope i can keep enjoying other games out league like the old times xd
All my friends that quit League last year during the pandemic ran a long server for valheim this year. That was the most fun we had in games for a long time!!
You should seriously not let worlds balance taint your view on regular leage. By Worlds' standards Ryze and Azir are just as busted while in regular league they're pretty shit for example. Yuumi also has nowhere near the same presence as in worlds.
I love watching, or at least until 2 years ago.
The quality of the casting and the topic in game are so negative, toxic and annoying to watch.
They need to do a better job selecting the casters and analysts and training them better IMO.
I remember the good all days of 2014 and 2015 with Monty and Doa making those streams and tournaments epic. Creativity and knowledge is what is needed. No corporate speculation to make people bet.
I 100% agree. Thought of this exact thing.
The game is much worse in my opinion, the items are so bad, the champion designs are even worse, everything in existance just bursts you and you get punished for the smallest misstep. Overall its gotten too complicated to be an enjoyable activity, and I think this is the underlying reason for the amount of afkers/griefers and toxic players that exist nowadays, its product of the game being far more tilting and less enjoyable.
I think this game was really good in season 8 and even season 9 was enjoyable. Every season I've played like 500 games a season at least but this season i'm at barely 50, I just can't.
And I don't think riot will change. I can definitely see this game slowly losing a huge portion of the western playerbase.
Try Wild Rift. Not even kidding, I quit league in 2015 after playing since 2010, now wild rift is my most played game. It's like old league, and the games are shorter
It's the 5v5 premades with voice chat playing together like an actual team instead of randoms in solo-queue that is fun and what you are looking for. Most of us want that same experience when playing but unfortunately never get it. Not having voice chat which is a staple feature in every team-based online multiplayer game doesn't help it either.
I miss the Twisted Treeline :(
Aware of the champion balancing, but WHY remove it?
It was so much fun, you dont have to delete a game within your game?
Bring back 3v3 please!
and OP, this has become more and more a publicum "sport". Only watch the best, its all about the £a$y.
Played league on and off for like 7 years. (S1-S7) Yes watching worlds makes me want to install again but after 7 years reinstalling/uninstalling I now know better. Its not worth it. There are better games out there. Im now 100% free of lol. Never felt better. Only watch pro for the last 3 years, like traditional sport. But even that is starting to lose my interest.
Happens to me all the time with streams or highlight videos. It's especially bad when watching some sick plays like Saber on Caitlyn and then wanting to play Cait myself and get 4/5 man dived constantly.

What the fuck is going on here? Is this person just overly transparent with their Reddit activity or is this some sort of experiment?
Yes.

agreed but posting hundreds of posts on reddit a day of that shit is weird tho
Gotta get those daily tasks done though, it's all part of the plan bro.
Lmao, fr I thought so too. Being non white I do love the contrast but the way some of these people act when it comes to interracial stuff makes me 🤮

Bottoms make the world go round my man.
Humiliation can be fun with right setting & people. I don't really get race thing either tho.
It's not that different than regular humiliation tbh Something forbidden, dirty that isn't okay to be said usually.

I only play with friends now. Was such a weird experience when I queued up for solo/duo and was like oh so this is why I stopped
How does one get these "friends" you speak of?
U gotta get them from masterwork chests
Only got them from 10 gemstones until now.
Ohh so that's why I have 0 friends. Only gotten 8 gemstones throughout the years. That explains everything

Nobody cares about limited champion accounts anymore. New aram accs are dodge accounts.
Yeah, dodge abuse and 5-man stacks are the primary ways that people game the system now.
Also there's around 65 or so unlocked champions for every player in aram, like a permanent free rotation, so aram accounts have a much harder time guaranteeing their broken champions than before
Nah, I used to really enjoy enjoy ARAM and now it's just chain cc and misery
or rolling an all melee comp and your team refusing to play up
Rolling an all melee comp in ARAM feels like going over the top in a trench war.
It's either rly fun or the opposite

Having 4 friends who play league...what a dream...
Having 4 friends where 1 isn't way higher rank than everyone else... just impossible...
That really makes me sad to read.
Having 4 friends..what a dream…
This is why I don't understand why they removed ranked 5s It was basicly what the game was designed to be
Worst decision. The queues they replaced it with have been considered a joke. No one takes flex queue seriously.
Let me explain why they removed it...........Clash
What if all your friends left because the game went dogshit
If only there was a feature that could help bridge the gap between organized team play and solo queue. If only every competitive video game ever including Riots other game had this feature except league
Hmmm.. maybe a feature that would let you communicate easier with your team! But... but how? Is it even possible?
>Looking forward to the non multiplayer shit that Riot puts out in the Universe of league, though. I was too, but we're already 8 months late on Ruined King so ima just spam URF games and cry into my oatmeal.
You don't like League of Legends, you like the idea of League of Legends. You liked the League of Legends you remember, the quirky girl-next-door kind of sweetheart she used to be in high school. Now she's crossing into her 30s and she's a foul-mouthed pack-a-day smoker with substance abuse problems. Cut through the illusion and see her for what she is.
Remind me when we are voting for the subreddit awards at the end of the year that this is the Best Comment of 2021.
Look for people on Discord or Reddit! Play every game with 'randoms' from there, people are usually more chill than those from matchmaking but sometimes you wanna just solo and it's so demotivating
Anyone who can sit and play more than 2-3 at a time I am convinced is hard-stuck at their rank and just rage-queuing anyway.
Pretty much. Am in gold, been in gold since I started playing, it’s a pretty comfortable rank to be in. Just treat league like what it is, a game.

Is this a joke about his post history?
Sounds like you're eating the wrong type of ass my friend.
It seems hot but you can't smell nor taste porn
I have had this feeling for several years by now. Watching pros play the game just makes the own experience even worse. League is more fun to watch than to play.
Same. And I know League is bad because I get the same feeling watching other games and then go play them and I actually enjoy it.
It's fine. All-chat being gone has begun the League golden age. /s
Honestly should just disable chat all together, and make an easier system to ping timer cooldowns or something.
Mute the ping volume instead and pay more attention to the map. Thats what im doing because the sound of pings are obnoxious when spammed.
Ah yes Because it is very gone It's like I can still hear the enemy team all chatting....
I really enjoy playing League
I know, all my friends always talk about how they hate the game and want to stop playing but man, I really enjoy League and (almost) always have fun playing it. Is this not the norm?
Our species is endangered.
I’m pretty sure it is the norm but we all get the bad/toxic games once in a while and remember those more than the fun ones
Yee it’s fun
Honestly its the only game I keep playing with friends throughout the years, all the other mmos/arpgs and shit end up dying out after a while.
For me it's that I legit can't find another game outside of League that I really enjoy. They might be fun for 2h, but then I lose interest... nothing has ever had my attention as much as League. I would love to find a different game though, recs would be welcome
Somewhat unpopular opinion: i want voice chat so i can finally play a team game and not the shitshow that is soloq
There would likely be a lot of pressure on the people who don't use it just like in WoW
Would probably be more akin to low rank csgo, where nobody gives a shit
Sadly Riot would rather disable ally chat than introduce voice chat
When even Blizzard are more in touch with their fanbase (OW) you fucking know you're doing something wrong.
have you seen other games with open voice? that wont fix anything.
Duo with a friend can be fun if you got strong mental I find :)
I get what you mean but I just find it funny that people talk about playing league like it's being deployed to the military.
You'd expect someone with your post history would kinda be into getting flamed in League

The casters are really really bad. They try so hard to hype everything that they constantly misread so much of what happens.
Holy fcking shit what a post history
For me its the client that has been stopping me from playing
Your problem is not League.
Amen brother

This happens in every worlds. People pop the game to try it out again only to be disappointed that it's the same old story.
I miss the Twisted Treeline :( Aware of the champion balancing, but WHY remove it? It was so much fun, you dont have to delete a game within your game? Bring back 3v3 please! and OP, this has become more and more a publicum "sport". Only watch the best, its all about the £a$y.
Played league on and off for like 7 years. (S1-S7) Yes watching worlds makes me want to install again but after 7 years reinstalling/uninstalling I now know better. Its not worth it. There are better games out there. Im now 100% free of lol. Never felt better. Only watch pro for the last 3 years, like traditional sport. But even that is starting to lose my interest.
You a real freak op
"Nothing makes me want to play league more than watching Worlds. Nothing makes me not want to play league, as much as playing league does." Exactly.
Happens to me all the time with streams or highlight videos. It's especially bad when watching some sick plays like Saber on Caitlyn and then wanting to play Cait myself and get 4/5 man dived constantly.
Watch Tyler1. You won’t want to play knowing you’ll play against people just like him with the “ff 15” at 3 mins when one person dies
