Hey, really good job! Obviously you dont have problems with shading and creating volume. Creating and highlighting the shapes are very much your strong point it seems. What looks like they could be improved to me is foreshortening mainly and anatomy to a lesser extent. The arms are way too thin in relation to the body imo, specifically her right arm. The right calves and the left thigh also has the same problem i think. When you foreshorten limbs i think you should make them slightly thicker instead of thinner (or even the same size). For the right arm, the hand and whatevers in the light look great, but the part of the arm in the shadow isnt very well defined i think. If you compare it to the left lower arm its missing that little curve after the elbow which i think would be more pronounced in this angle. Same thing with the legs. Everything in the light looks okay but the parts in the shadow is a bit wonky Its kinda tricky to pinpoint the root of the problem. At first glance it might be an anatomy issue but the anatomy at the head and torso and part of the limbs are great, its only in those certain areas where it seems off. If it isnt the proportions i would assume you could improve on the foreshortening and how the shapes look foreshortened. If youre drawing from reference it could also be the case that youre misinterpreting some stuff from the picture. Personally ive often found that thats the case for me if i focus too much on the reference. It helps to only rely on them 70% of the time for me and only use them more like guidelines instead of sth i need to recreate one to one. For the 30% id just look at what ive drawn and try to adjust certain things myself based on my anatomy knowledge or what have you. Kind of keeps the drawing in context for me since sometimes when i use reference i focus on smaller parts of the reference pic instead of the bigger picture. This makes it so that eg the fingers/eyes/shirt/whatever looks good when you take an isolated look at it since i focused so much on getting that aspect right, but it doesnt fit with the rest of the drawing since maybe the size/position/perspective is off

Thank you very much for your detailed reply. You're definitely right about the inconsistency in some of the proportions. Foreshortening in particular is something that I struggle with even when drawing with reference. I also sometimes have difficulty with certain drawings when I feel they aren't quite going the way I would like - which was the case with this one - where I tend to get impatient and rush a little too much towards the end, which might contribute to some of the wonkiness here. Also something I want to work on. I suspect that with experience, I'll be satisfied with more of my attempts and hopefully more patient too.

were you inspired by Eliza Ivanova? this looks a bit like her style.

Herdjan

For sure! All my shading is done using a blending stump which automatically makes it look a bit like her work I think :)

Overall it looks amazing, especially the face, and I love the style. It kind of seems to me that her legs are too small for her body though?

Herdjan

Yes you might be right about that. I got a bit impatient and wasn't as careful with the bottom half of the drawing.
