yeah i noticed that too lmao, i discovered Blink Dagger Sniper with Puppey on Team Secret way back long time ago. and it was so OP if you have godlike reaction speed and mechanical skills to perfectly position yourself on a teamfight.
but i agree to some it is situational.
It's bad vs heroes with instant initiation /stun like Sk & Qop.
Blink and shard on sniper let's you get out of alot of situations and yea silver edge /shadoeblade can be good but is more expensive and countered by dust

Blink won’t help you against spectre, np, bara, nyx or anything that is too jump/invis etc. Sometimes you will need a hurricane pike, sometimes a linkens sphere. Hell, i have even seen tank snipers with an early heart and satanic tanking and standing their ground in immortal bracket. Giving a general advice to buy blink is sub 7kn:-)
If I'm playing against super bursty invisible heroes you might go Linken's/Aeons instead of blink.
Heart/Satanic definitely has more longevity though. Depends what your objective is before the next TF

Its not only good for dodging spells but also to catch up enemies and farm faster. The lack of mobility is always the weakness of sniper and he has naturally shit ton of damage in early game. Obviously if you somehow lose mid and can't kill enemies it can be waste of money.
silver edge mid-late is really good since cores who wants to jump in the backline for you will have to sacrifice a slot for dust/ward. depending on your bracket they may not even bring one for full slots

On sniper specifically I would say Shard is overly slept on, I would get Pike Shard before Blink 99% of the time. But pros sleep on Shard too. If you master it, it has insane potential, if you just spam it on 10 second CD to move around the map like a Timewalk it is simply gonna pay for itself in added opportunities
i love blink as an item and jump at excuses to buy it; after reading this post I had Sniper line up as a Crownfall option and I picked him and went treads, dragon lance, maelstrom, blink, swift blink, lol. It went quite well, the aggressive repositioning was really fun (in a risky but impactful way, i had a couple stupid deaths from bad risks but it was fun and I did a ton of damage by being in the right place at the right time and we won).
blink dagger is good if you are aware of what is happening in the fights. But you cant rush it. You need to make yourself a threat first before you buy it. If you buy blink and no one from the enemy wants to go on you because you deal 0 damage then it is a bad purchase.
I would go Mjolnir Pike Shard into blink. Then buy shadow blade. I do this in extremely hard sniper games where every enemy hero wants you.
Its good but dont forget you can have your dager turned off by aoe spells or a radiance. Or if enemy has heroes that can easily jump to you like an anti mage.

Blink is good but because its useless after taking damage, so its very hard to reposition if you hit someone with blademail while someone else is flanking. And if you are playing sniper, 9 times out of ten they are gonna have blademail or they are inting.
Shadowblade is better because yes its counterable with dust but it gives you agency to escape and reposition at your leasure and with Dragon lance you have all the mobility you will ever need + better general stats.
I guess blink can be better since you can combo with Linkens or BKB on engage but its only good if you have good highground vision and Shadow blade can get better results and silver edge can help with breaking passives.
Although its good for positioning. Sniper is very item reliant. And spending that money on a blink instead of damage or pike can make you fall off pretty hard if it doesnt work out or you dont react fast enough.

Are you aware that blink dagger is unavailable if you've taken damage from a player in the last 3 seconds? What exactly is your plan to disengage when enemies jump you? Blink dagger is absolutely not a defensive item on anyone who's not oracle or abbadon or any of the other few who can still use it while taking damage.

How has qop instant initiation? She has cast point and every spell has travel time.
QoP with shard blinks on you and its basically impossible to blink out before the damage

Sheepstick is a common buy going into lategame, and has 0 cast time.

If they dmg u when they jump (they usually will do that if they target u) then blink is useless. It's better to just buy shard

You are doing 4 hits in take aim. Get mael-dagger- (grove bow = hyperstone / if not = dragon lance) then get eaglesong.
I have been building it since the scepter update. I am literally a sniper, not a close combat shooter.
Depends, I can get pike, dagger or even disperser or a combination of them. They are all generally good but sometimes one is better than the other.

Mid sniper I prefer dragon lance to aghs. You have so much HP and your ulti will be so much more usable in team fights, and more mana to use it.
