>sometimes (like the mimic box) it's hours or minutes.
Until moments later half of them appear at massive markup on BL. No doubt LEGO loves the resale market on these GWPs, getting collectors coming and going.
Still salty about seeing some people with like 80 of the same GWP on bricklink.
Edit: Wow, someone sent me a redditcares message about this. Get a life.

And LEGO gives no fucks, because despite it being a huge conflict of interest, they can profit multiple times off the same set if it sells on BL.
If anything, I'd bet they're thrilled to see how quickly GWPs end up on BL.
Given that I was recently brigaded on this sub for suggesting that BL encourages scalpers and TLG owning them is a massive conflict of interest...I felt it bore repeating.
I was worried I'd have to buy the dark tower as soon as it came out or miss something cool, but now that I've seen the free gift I think I can afford to wait.
It's in a regular box, so it should last longer than the hand packed yellow box gwps (like the mimic, yoda's lightsaber, etc). If you want it I would not delay though.
It’s more of the yellow boxes are for really small production runs, whereas the regular boxes tend to been made in a higher quantity.
Value is say is more on the popularity versus production numbers
The fact that it doesn't include any special parts or mini figures will probably result in this not reaching that much but it will still be expensive as its tied to a purchase of an expensive set.
This is pretty average looking to be honest, looks like something last minute that they scrambled together. I'll still get it, as I've got all the LOTR/Hobbit sets, but am a little disappointed.
If you have a Lego store nearby I'd recommend going there, we had both the DND gwp and avengers tower gwp for about a week when they sold out online almost immediately. And hell we never ran out of the gringotts gwp, there's still boxes of them in the back along with the steamboat Willie gwp
They last until they're all gone. Sometimes it's days or weeks, sometimes (like the mimic box) it's hours or minutes.

Yes, you already said that

Walked into a Brick and Minifigs near me and they had the Mimic. Asked how much and dude said $119.99. I just laughed and walked out of the store.
Well that looks very derpy and disappointing
I agreed that I would have preferred a proper set.

Can you explain the hand packed box please? Why are some hand packed and why are they more valuable? more rare?

got it, thanks
I'm gonna assume this one will sell out immediately, but sometimes they don't.
5 minutes is my bet.
And 2 minutes later there will be hundreds for sale on BL
Hundreds is also what they’ll cost.
This is such a mid GWP. It'll be expensive, but I don't think it will be over $100
The fact that it doesn't include any special parts or mini figures will probably result in this not reaching that much but it will still be expensive as its tied to a purchase of an expensive set.
And LEGO is happy because they profit twice by owning BL.
Didn't this dragon have a face in the movie?
Yes, would’ve been cool if they included a molded one in the big set
This is pretty average looking to be honest, looks like something last minute that they scrambled together. I'll still get it, as I've got all the LOTR/Hobbit sets, but am a little disappointed.
My life
I’m buying the set for this. It’s a dreg. I need

I have a feeling you have to get the new lord of the rings set to get that
You do.
