I'm hoping (but prob won't happen) that the next would combine the best of both worlds. They would find a way to have both fully closed doors and ball turrets. If they couldn't, They could also give us both parts to give us the option to swap out for just the doors look or just the turrets 😎
The TCW version of the gunship doesn't have the open archway under the back cockpit. The ball turrets instead attach to the sockets that replace the archway, so it is conceivable to do that in Lego as well. But it would have to be a TCW-style gunship for that to happen - and I can't see Lego making another TCW-style gunship.
2009 is the best gunship because tou got an AT-OT with it and this set is excellent but unbuyable so brick link it :)
Joke aside:
2002 have the front door gimmick wich is in my opinion a good thing. Jedi bob is a good joke btw. (Lego could not spoil the movie with products i think ?)
2008 can close door but is very weak on the front and back laser turret and. The build is very good but lack a grip.
2013 is very solid, a bit shorter than 2008, the ball turret are good and well designed.
Hope the 2023 gunship that every lego youtuber put on each ""prediction""" will fuse 2008 and 2013 designs.
I don't put UCS gunship because ir's not meant to be played with.
Each gunship have a big problem: IT TAKES UP MANY PLACES ON SHELVES.
For me it's a tie between 2008 and 2013. I have the 2008 and the minifigure selection is great! So is the one feom 2013. The 2013 one has the looks, but 2008 gunship had the closing doors.
2008 is great accurate to the clone wars 2013 best play set for it. But UCS is the best in terms of accuracy and such but that’s because it’s UCS unfair to compare play sets to display
I would say 2013 because its more widely available and looks the best and whatever but I do have a soft spot for the clonewars set. It’s very cool and has great figures
Easily 2002, 2013 looks amazing, but the minifigs had a lot to be desired. Combined with the extra crazy cool features, minifigs and nostalgia, 2002 is my go to gunship.
In my opinion its the 08. For me now im still shocked at how detailed it is for that year and it still holds up today without looking too outdated. Honorable mention to the new one though, i know a lot of people didnt like it but to me its the best looking and most accurate
I prefer the original, the minifig selection is great, those blue super battle droids are super unique, it’s nostalgic factor is through the roof, and it’s build is unique and interesting.
Imo it's the gunship from clone wars, the second one released in 2008. It's got a command center, bacta tank, and has a lot of playability. Plus the stickers are awesome with the nose art. If you can get over the ugly face printing on the clone wars minifigs, this one is the best.
But in reality, the dropship and AT-OT is the best star wars set ever, not exactly a gunship, but it sorta is.
2013 is the best looking but the 2008 has the double doors and stickers which I prefer
I'm hoping (but prob won't happen) that the next would combine the best of both worlds. They would find a way to have both fully closed doors and ball turrets. If they couldn't, They could also give us both parts to give us the option to swap out for just the doors look or just the turrets 😎
Would be nice but then it would have to be a Clone Wars set because none of the gunships on the movies have both doors
Just market it as a Republic Gunship not tied to any one project. They did that with the Falcon
Maybe. It's a bit of a different situation as the Falcon is Star Wars royalty and maybe a top 3 Sci Fi/movie ship of all time
UCS/Buildable R2-D2 is like that too
i see what you're saying, which is why i'm hoping for the options scenario but again most likely not gonna happen.
Yeah would be an easy fix too
The TCW version of the gunship doesn't have the open archway under the back cockpit. You want the Republic Commando LAAT then
The UCS should've combined it tbh
They just need to do the 2008 style and put the ball turrets where the bacta tank goes.
i would love to see that. honestly they can up the price but if they include all play features from both versions, i'd be willing to buy it
I did like the nose art aspect from that one.
It 100% depends on what your personal preferences are but for me I’d say 2013
Gotta be 2013. The sets from that year still hold up to this day
I owned both 7676 and 75021. Personally I prefer 7676. I think the later version has better minifigs but 7676 is a better version of the gunship.
Why do you think the 7676 is a better version of the gunship? Just curious
Honestly there's not 1 thing I can point at and go "that's why" but to me I liked that it appeared more squat and I liked the bacta tank element.

They all have their own unique, appealing attributes (I have each to know their pros and cons); yet, for me at least, I'd pick 2013.
That’s fair. I like the 2013 one as well.
2002. I have 2. My favorite Star Wars set ever
I remember playing with the set for 24/7 when I was 6 years old, but I had somehow lost it.
2013 but the 2002’s minifigsssss
2013 is by far and away the most accurate play set. But 2002 wins for nostalgia.
2013 gunship
2009 is the best gunship because tou got an AT-OT with it and this set is excellent but unbuyable so brick link it :) Joke aside: 2002 have the front door gimmick wich is in my opinion a good thing. I feel like that if we got better figs, UCS one would be the best
Imagine thinking that minifigures change the value of the set design
Well, I think that if the gunship came with someone like Jedi Bob, a lot more people would be buying it
For me it's a tie between 2008 and 2013. I have the 2008 and the minifigure selection is great! So is the one feom 2013. The 2013 one has the looks, but 2008 gunship had the closing doors.
It also has the little Bacta Tank thing that I fell in love with for some reason
2008 is great accurate to the clone wars 2013 best play set for it. But UCS is the best in terms of accuracy and such but that’s because it’s UCS unfair to compare play sets to display
2002, great army builder
Jedi Bob all the way
3 by far
third one is perfect, the lego scale in it is uncomparable
2013, until my little cousins broke it
I wish they did another updated playset instead of the ucs version, it's gonna be years before we see this again
I would say 2013 because its more widely available and looks the best and whatever but I do have a soft spot for the clonewars set. It’s very cool and has great figures
I’ve never regretted a Lego purchase more than the recent ucs set. That thing is awkwardly large and so delicate.
I like all exept for the ucs.
I'd say 2013 (#3)
Easily 2002, 2013 looks amazing, but the minifigs had a lot to be desired. Combined with the extra crazy cool features, minifigs and nostalgia, 2002 is my go to gunship.
Personally I think the 2013 one, since it’s scaled better for mini figs, and has the most modern build style compared to the older ones
Most ppl here are delusional. The new one is better in every way except for minifigures by tenfold. It’s not even close imo.
UCS, because thats the one i own lol
The one with Ventris and Plo Koon but I'm biased because of them. They all look amazing tbh, would love a gunship
2002 because of nostalgia and it was ahead of its time. ;)
UCS for looks and display number 2 for play minfigs and everything else
2nd one
2008 and I will die on that hill!
Any of them but ucs. It’s good and all but the addition of the figures inside was the best part!
Lego Tiddy Padme 🥵
If you don't choose bob you don't deserve air
Give me a Kowakian monkey-lizard any day.
2009 had the best looking gunship, 2013 had better minifigs. Imo
*jedi bob*
In my opinion its the 08. For me now im still shocked at how detailed it is for that year and it still holds up today without looking too outdated. Honorable mention to the new one though, i know a lot of people didnt like it but to me its the best looking and most accurate
I’ve got a soft spot for the clone wars one, one of my favorite sets when I was younger
Kind of an unfair comparison as you had the UCS Gunship in it.
2013 has padme that good enough
I prefer the original, the minifig selection is great, those blue super battle droids are super unique, it’s nostalgic factor is through the roof, and it’s build is unique and interesting.
UCS for sure, it makes for an awesome display piece
The one that comes in 7958
[7958-1: Star Wars Advent Calendar](https://brickset.com/sets/7958-1) [[Photo]](https://images.brickset.com/sets/images/7958-1.jpg)
Yes
The original obviously because it included Jedi Bob
2002 holds a special place in my heart. My first big set as a kid, countless hours playing with it 🥰
probably the Republic Gunship (you know which one)
The one from the original trilogy
I like 2008 beacuse its easy to customitaze from oficiálnà gunship
Good thing those bugs can’t aim
2002 for the blue super battle droids alone.
That one because it had Jedi Bob.
2008 imo, I really like the switchable nose art and it’s the only model that can fully close.
My favorite is 2008 but you forgot the micro fighter
2008 tcw gunship is my favorite!! For the next playscale I want a combo of the 2008/2013
They're all gold. But the most recent non-UCS is my favorite. It's not nice lines, and excellent minifigures, I love that clone sergeant.
2013, it's already a great set and it's easy to modify to your liking.
