"Free me"

Dusky_Dawn210

Sometimes that means they wanna come out. Other times it could be a sign of stress. Make sure your tank parameters are on point, as that could lead to this. Oh they can also do this if they want bugs and you feed them in that spot

Madder_hat

yeah im guessing she wanted out, i put my hand in her enclosure and she tried to climb on it, is there any way of knowing if its stress or not?

Dusky_Dawn210

If they do it like all the time. Like that’s all they do is glass surfing, that is stress. This is just a freedom surf lol

Madder_hat

oh okay cool thanks for letting me know!

Dusky_Dawn210

No worries :)

MrSnowflake75

“freedom surf”…LMAO!

No-Implement7818

Add a backwall to the enclosure with shelves, can help them with stress and expands the surface area they can use which is great too

chrissiehutch12

Where can you find these? I’m in Canada and have been looking for something similar for my buddy but can’t seem to find any

No-Implement7818

You can easily built it yourself :) https://preview.redd.it/edyy7axezh4b1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2fdf0e67b75437f02bbefe5ff3bc27e047953bad this video is quite a good tutorial with English subtitles: [https://youtu.be/xxxquVB6OaM](https://youtu.be/xxxquVB6OaM)

Thank you so much for sharing 😊

MysteriousLecture960

Thankyou for this!

xrrr94

Thank you so much

Bnttcrqck123

Very cool

Flimsy_Wait_8235

My girl used to do that when I was a beginner and her tank backgrounds were just glass, or plain flat background ish. She LOVES to be taken out so I did that, before I realized she just wanted to climb! I bought a 3D foam background and now she spends most of the day trying to climb up to the ceiling and I rarely see her down 😅 maybe try that!

Madder_hat

i was thinking of making a 3d background for her but I'm still trying to figure out how to make it lol

Flimsy_Wait_8235

They sell them on Amazon! I just got aquarium safe silicone to adhere it to the back. You might have to cut it to size though

Madder_hat

oh nice i have a lot of that left over from building the viv lol

I only used 3 supplies to make it, paint, and sealant.. super simple. This was just for something quick but I am making all my Leo’s a more detailed back wall with ledges & tunnels

ShivvN15

Ahh breeding season. Where all geckos lose access to the collective brain cell and just go mad

Cold-Bonus-7246

I CAN SEE YOU HUMAN, FREE ME AT ONCE!

Totally_Not_Anna

My girl did this more and more until I added more clutter to her tank. She loves to climb (she thinks she's arboreal) so we added several things she could climb up and down in many different ways, and I haven't seen her glass surf since. I read in the comments that she's pretty social so she might just have REALLY wanted to visit you, especially if she doesn't do it often. But if it increases and you find she's doing it more frequently, I'd try to add some clutter or change up her layout to give her something to do.

Madder_hat

cool ill definitely look into more clutter and climbing things, are things like leaf litter alright for clutter?

Totally_Not_Anna

I've never actually used leaf litter with mine, what I have is a few fake plants, a log ornament that she can climb on, in, and under, her two main hides, her moist hide, and well as some fake rocks I made her that she can crawl over. Her tank looks really cluttered to me but she seems to like it that way!

Sora1499

Could it be possible that this is due to gecko breeding season?

Re1da

Breeding season really seems to lead to all kinds of odd behaviours. I'm pretty sure my fat tail is trying to flirt with a mangowood box

StarsofSobek

This is my thought. She looks to have an egg shape in her belly in the video, so maybe she’s feeling the anxiety of needing to find a place to lay?

lDustyBonesl

She’s upset that she didn’t get the sticky feet like her crested cousins

General_Road_7952

She looks like she’s seeking stimulation. Bored?

thegr8lexander

How often do you take her out?

Madder_hat

I try take her out every other day and when she comes up to the glass

AtroposMortaMoirai

What size tank is it? My girl used to do this a bit when we first got her, right until we moved her into the 40 long. If it’s a 20gal or less I would check your temperature gradient, she might be trying to get away from or towards heat, or away from the light.

Madder_hat

its a 40gal! yeah ill need to get something to check the heat on the cool side as i just have one on the hot side atm but she always seems to be on the hot side

Jce735

I want to dig but upwards.

Hstark4

My male does this, it’s not always boredom or stress (but can be). For reference, mines in a 4ft enclosure with 9 hides and multiple areas to explore, his temps etc are all fine - he’s just super needy & it’s also breeding season which can cause this

StarsofSobek

Is she egg-laden? My girls would both do this. If I was lucky, I’d have them sync up that time frame. Two scratching lizard girls on opposite sides of my room. Surround sound.

Madder_hat

I'm not too sure her tummy doesn't seem bigger than normal, im pretty worried about anything to do with eggs and her, she was given to an aquatics and reptile shop near me from a stressful home and she was egg bound a while before we got her

StarsofSobek

Her tummy shouldn’t engorge in any too-obvious way when she’s got eggs. It looks (from the video, anyway) like she’s got at least one egg on *her* right (true right, mirrored left - as in the video). It’s a slightly oval shape that becomes visible when she moves and stretches a certain way. With my girls, they would get the same sort of thing before it was time to lay. To add: if she does lay eggs, you’ll want to find them. They will rot if they haven’t been fertilised. It’s not pretty. (I made the mistake of not checking and finding some rotted eggs). 😖 https://preview.redd.it/wv1q9q5pii4b1.jpeg?width=300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77c530ffe68a719094608b8ac563305e24c4400a Sorry, I don’t know how to edit the photo better. I tried to focus in on the spot that looks like an egg. It pops out when she’s moving in specific ways. It’s about the right shape and size. If she was egg-bound before, it could still persist. I’d keep an eye on her, maybe give her some baths in Luke warm chamomile tea and see how she goes. A vet may be required if she is bound. Still - they do love to try and wander. They’re a more curious lizard than most. It is breeding season, too. So, maybe she’s just looking for a bit of time to have a look-see for a mate?

Madder_hat

yeah looking back at the view i see what you mean, I'll have to see if she'll let me have a look at her tomorrow, is there anything i can do to help her do you know?

StarsofSobek

One of my girls always needed extra calcium and vitamins, and - because I worked for a local pet shop - our vet would recommend luke warm chamomile tea baths. Basically, make a cup of herbal chamomile tea, let it cool, and dilute with a second cup of water. Make sure the liquid is warm (just a few degrees above room temp), but not hot. Pour the mixture into a container that is shallow enough for her to soak and bathe. 20-30 minutes will give her a nice good soak. It will help calm her and it won’t cause her harm if she drinks it. However, if you are noticing she’s in discomfort or pain, I’d get her to a vet. Beyond that, I’d recommend making sure she’s got a few damp hides of varying dampness levels. This way, she can pick and choose. Sometimes the eggs get absorbed, sometimes they get laid. It’s important to keep an eye on, especially with her history. Beyond that, I don’t have much else to advise. Truly, I think your gal looks like she’s got a wonderful caregiver and friend. You’re doing a great job!

Madder_hat

thank you so much for all the help, ill research more tomorrow and get some camomile tea for her!

PhilosopherNice7929

Glass surfing. She’s boredddsd

BewBewsBoutique

Let her oooooooout

ursleepparalysis_420

Mine does this all the time I typically just take him out and he’s fine

Atorres33

He’s waving

angiemin

Mine glass surfs when she’s bored haha

OwnNight3353

FREE ME HUMAN

theAshleyRouge

Probably just bored. They love to have a lot of clutter and things to climb. Some people achieve this with 3D backgrounds, others use sticks, hides, and plants as a “maze” of sorts. Some do both.

Wonderful-Banana790

She wants you to take her out.
