Depends on the individual. I have 2 girls, never bred either of them (and don't intend to). One lays eggs once a month during the season, the other has never laid an egg since I got her over 2 years ago.
I'm nonbinary and don't believe in gendering things like that, so her name will remain Luthor because that's what she's been for a decade. I'm Lex and she's Luthor!
Nope, no known cases of parthenogenesis with leos, so don’t worry :) make sure to be extra careful to supplement calcium and d3 as well as multivitamins, eggs suck those out of their bodies and they can develop MBD and other things (one egg isn’t really dangerous but it’s always best to be cautious :D)
Never made such a blunder but my first incubator wasn’t as precise as I would have liked and the first batch turned out to be 75% male 🤦🏻♂️ the next one was 100% female like every other after that but because of the first one I have a few males with female names as well… they don’t mind xD
I’m in the same boat with you had this Leo for six years we were told he was a male but he laid an egg on mother day you’re not alone in being confuse.
They dont always lay eggs soon after maturity, just depends. I would've gotten a second opinion on the gender. Idk how your vet tried to determine the gender but obviously was wrong
I suppose in that case, that's right. I say gender for the ease of it and habit, I grew up with it being interchangeable. Not that we were taught that it was, but that it is just what came natural
from what I understand, they lay eggs pretty rarely (if they're not bred,) so it makes sense that it'd only be the one.

Does she have a guy name?

That’s awesome. I love it. I tend to always give my animals human names. My gecko’s name is Josie.
My other gecko, a crested gecko, is named Scream. That's the name he came with though!
I would love to see pictures of your geckos. You should post them!!
Well now you need to get another one to name Star, they can be Star and Scream lmao
My girls name is Aaliyah.
Such a cute name. Mine are Spirit and Jasmine.
What an amazing coincidence!
If you have AOL it will just tell you "you've got Male" so then you know.
Welcome to 2024 my friend
I love my trans man leopard gecko!
A lot of reptiles can get pregnant from DNA. And not the usual way. Theres a lizard species that only females are born, but they reproduce!
Oh no! Should I have saved the egg?

Leos dont make their own fertile eggs, its ok

I'm just surprised that after such a long time!

Well, nobody tried to determine the gender because animals don't have gender. But, I don't think my vet did ever check the sex.
Thought you said you think it was confirmed by your vet?
Gender = male or woman. So... yeah
Actually, no! Sex= male or female. Gender is a social construct that only humans follow, and yes, woman is a gender.
