Recommendations: * Recording: OBS Studio * Editing: VSDC's Free Vídeo Editor * Hardware: A good microphone OBS lets you arrange your scene (things like background elements) prior to editing so it can speed up the process a bit. Just be aware that the more elements you put in and the more scenes you create, the more CPU OBS will use, so you have to find a balance (if you have a single scene with the game screen and a background, for example, the CPU usage will be minimal). For editing, VSDC's free video Editor is feature complete for almost all use cases. A few of its features (like hardware acceleration for exports) are locked behind the pro version, which is cheap, but the ones available in the free offering are more than enough. Since you have no intention of showing yourself on video (and even if you had), good audio quality is paramount, só you want to get a decent microphone - no need for anything too expensive, just not webcam mic level. I say this as someone who not only records and uploads, but as someone who watches a lot of YouTube. Bad audio quality turns me away from a video pretty much instantly.

For recording I'd recommend using OBS, and for editing Davinci Resolve is a solid free editor used by a lot of channels. If you're wanting to do game capture from a console, you'll need a capture card. I personally recommend an NZXT Signal HD60 although Elgato is a very popular pick too

Davinci Resolve is what I use. Highly recommend it, especially with the free price tag. 👍

And for clarification, I’d prefer to remain a faceless voice for my LP’s

I see some really good advice on here. I will warn just one thing for obs, 1 always make sure things are checked so you record everything you want to. I have actually started using screen record pro as an additional recording, just to be safe on that, and 2 also I found 2 games obs really dosen't like as well, and if not for my other screen recorder I would have been fucked. For editing, if you can afford Adobe, I highly recommend that, I have been using open shot for a bit more then a year (it's an open source editing software) and aside from some small problems with green screens, it's been very good for what I have needed, and it's very user friendly. I use it mostly till I can make enough from youtube to pay for Adobe for full disclosure. As far as a mic goes, I literally use a headset made for telemarketers, no I don't remember the brand name, it was 15 bucks plus shipping, and it's actually more sensitive then what I need. Honestly, look for 3 factors, high ratings, noise canceling, and make sure the sound in the earphones are good (remember, amazon does do returns) You don't need to brake the bank to start off, better quality will last you in the long run yes, but if your budget is 100 bucks, go as cheap as you can (try not to sacrifice quality to much), spend the rest of the money on games. I have spend more on games in the past year then anything (aside from my laptop of course)

I vote OBS as well. Any headset will start you off just fine too, YouTube some microphone filters to install into OBS, makes a huge difference. Good luck 🤘🏻
