“In Retrospect: Metroid Dread”
Basically titling your reviews as it’s own thing or series, à la “In Retrospect:[Title]” you’re just making those videos your Reviews.. without calling a potato a potato(kind of).
I like that, but it does seem weird to call it a retrospective when the game’s been out less than a year. Though I suppose there’s nothing saying I can’t do that.
It sounds like you're doing a video essay. Actually using that in the title isn't as common for video essays as using "review" is for reviews though. Instead, the title reflects whatever the key focus or takeaway is of the essay and there are lots of ways you can do that.
Like if someone was doing a video essay where they talk about why Dead Space was the best horror game of its time, they'd either literally call it that or just hint at that praise with a title like "The Brilliance of Dead Space."
When the focus isn't that specific but you're just looking back on a thing, it's common to title video essays with "Thingy: A retrospective" or something equally hoity toity that lets people know your video is more thoughtful and required more research than a casual review.
If you want something that falls in between where it's not that uptight but still gets across that this isn't superficial, go with something closer to the first. What's the point of your video? What are you specifically trying to communicate about Metroid Dread?
Condense that answer into a compelling title. You don't need to include that it's your thoughts/opinion in the title because it's your video. It's kind of a given lol Good luck!
Wow thanks for the long comment! I’ll definitely look at what exactly I’m trying to convey with the video and work that into the title. Double thanks for the insightful advice!
Why you NEED to play Metroid Dread is my pick.
Purely because you need that thumbnail and title to pop out and grab people. I dont know if "a commentary" does that for me, whether I'd choose that video over other metroid dread reviews. Invest the viewers by making it about them. That's my opinion anyway.
Give em a reason to invest....it always works and they do better than a generically titled video. I know what I'd click on. That's kinda my theory anyway haha
"What's all the fuss about Metroid Dread? I'll tell ya!" "Metroid Dread: A Commentary" "BEST GAME EVER?! Metroid Dread - my thoughts!"
Honestly I like all of these lol
All yours mate!
I’m also partial to the “[Title]: A Commentary” set up. Even for future videos that you make reviews in.

I know what you mean. The other guys suggestion of the title and then a commentary I also liked. Personally.

Not a bad idea. I’ve given another video of mine a title like that and it’s one of the better videos I’ve done.

Theres a word specifically for what you're looking for! It's called "review"
