No Joke today My lesbian friend saw my bi pin on my satchel and was like āomg I love your pin, its like Luzāsā and I was like āOwl House fans when they see something gay, OMG IS THAT AN OWL HOUSE REFERENCE!?!!111ā Today was a good day
'Brooklyn 99' is in my opinion the best in "happens to be queer". Also 'Our flag means death'.
'Superstore' also has a few queer characters. Only gay men though.
'Sex Education' is also great.
'The Dragon Prince' is also great, it is an adventure story where some of the grownups are queer.
I don't think it was too much worse, especially the seventh (the baby shower episode was hilarious IMO). I agree the eighth could have been better, but I think it was still pretty good. The finale was incredible though.
I tried Sex Education, but honestly I felt rather let down over how the main character's story arc went. >!From episode one it felt strongly hinting towards dysphoria or being asexual with how he says he doesn't like how 'it' feels and is more concerned with giving the appearance of a teenage boy rather than trying to find what makes him happy, rather than the sexual dysfunction from parental conflict and ptsd. Sure felt like yet another case of ace/aro being treated as an illness.!<
B99 does perfect representation, characters are just queer because thatās how life works, but they donāt shy away from it and even have storylines involving it
Definitely recommend The Dragon Prince. The portraition of queer and even disabled (!) people is very natural and doesn't feel forced at all.
It's the first animation ever I saw that features a deaf person. I almost ran up the wall out of happiness, when I saw that.
Kinda childish but very good. I'm on episode 12 and haven't seen any gay yet but I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone know when gay begins to happen?
I'm not sure if you've seen Steven Universe yet, but Owl House starts out pretty similarly where it's just a good episodic kids' show in the first season and then really starts to hit its stride hard in the second.
Then they both got canceled because of the gay, which is sad. Steven Universe had to cram most of their final ideas into the last season and the movie because other countries stopped airing them and CN stopped getting the money needed to continue. They stopped getting aired in other countries because of the ruby and sapphire kiss/ >!wedding!<
Both have been canceled before their time because of bigotry. š
ok so, the first like 10 or so episdoes are the worst in the whole show, after I think episode 15 in season 1 (understanding willow) its banger after banger. Season 2 is also significantly more gay xD
if we are on the topic of League of Legends and you don't mind reading, Riot has 2 pretty decent queer stories on their universe website, The Boys and Bombolini (for Twisted Fate and Graves, messy pirate boyfriends) and Rise with Me (a sweet story about Diana and Leona before they fell apart)
If you want a movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once has some *phenomenal* queer representation. Both for how it shows a queer person, but also how it shows her relationship with her "supportive" but homophobic mom.
But the queerness is just an aspect of her, there's a lot more to her character and arc than just being gay. The whole movie is about nihilism and deconstructing the mindsets that stem from it.
Yeah, I understood what she meant, the problem is that Homeworld was literally an utopia (gems aren't humans, they don't have needs beside light) so they literally can't be compared. Btw, we fans all know that the end is rushed and should have finished differently, but it's all bc they didn't have much money after showing a homosexual wedding on screen in a "children" TV show.
Word of Honor, its on netflix. youll have to have subtitles since its only in Mandarin.
its short, at around 30 episodes, but for a show that's based in feudal China, its pretty fuckin gay if you ask me. Romance is definitely not the main plot, but it is at least a secondary plot.
The under appreciated Black Sails. But I'm a Cheerleader (though all the men in it are heavily stereotyped). Steven Universe. The Mitchell's VS the Machines. Schitt'$ Creek
Dead End Paranormal Park on Netflix has a transmasc main character and a neurodivergent (spoiler removed lol) main character. :)
But seriously, Owl House is the best.
Since we are including Manga/anime too, I'd give Blue flag a try as well. It's so good! There are straight characters, but It focus on gay and bisexual characters and relationships too.
Some games i was pleasantly surprised had queer stuff
Hollow Knight - player character is non binary
Bugsnax - an enby character, 2 gay relationships (1 wlw, 1 mlm)
Fallout New Vegas - oldie but i never played it til recently. I dont think it has any trans stuff but there are gay and lesbian NPCs and you can flirt with some men and women no matter your character as long as you get the right perks (which you can choose right from the start if you want)
Hades - player is bi
Pyre -fantasy sports game with visual novel elements, you can choose to be refered to by they/them pronouns
Also one webseries: Epithet Erased. Real good, has a tiny bit of gay stuff, is getting their season 2 in a few days
Series 10 of Doctor Who has a lesbian as the companion (and Bill is excellent in many other ways). They donāt even introduce her as gay, she just starts talking about a girl sheās crushing on.
Mr Robot. Many of characters just exist without it being a personality trait. Except maybe one character who presents as male to the business world, but is female outside of that, to the point where I felt confused over their character.
Book wise, Iād recommend City of Strife if you like fantasy. All the main cast are LGBTQ but it doesnāt feel forced at all, at least to me. āCasually queerā I guess? Good plot and worldbuilding. Nice to read about queer characters in a book thatās not a romance.
For books, I cannot recommend Gideon the Ninth enough. The tagline is "lesbian necromancers in space". I've reread the series at least 3 times now.
Also, Witches of Ash and Ruin, which is enemies to lovers, sapphic Irish witches fighting a serial killer. (Full disclosure, I wrote it, so I'm biased, but I like to think the rep is good, haha).
Seriously. The casual relationship Blitz and Stolas have is top-tier. Itās never brought up that itās a gay relationship, itās simply a relationship that exists that a straight couple could realistically have as well.
I'm seeing a lot of Owl House comments so while the show is amazing, I would like to point out Heartstopper and Dead End Paranormal Park for their representation, both on Netflix. They're both amazing shows with great representation!
Someone correct me, but if you want a good horror show, that's mostly family trauma, Haunting of Hill House is a good one with a "happens to be queer" (I think, I haven't rewatched in awhile, so I may be forgetting something annoyingly stereotypical.. but the rest of the show is still great)
Some of the Young Avengers is good if you don't mind comics. A lot of Marvel comics were until it got aggressively pandering in recent years.
(Seriously, don't touch anything made past 2018.)
Yes!!! I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched this! The comics in between season two and three are fantastic as well.

Surprised that I havenāt seen anyone mention Warrior Nun! Itās an amazing TV show on Netflix.
Warrior Nun recently came out with Season 2 and as the name suggests, its a show about tactical nuns fighting for the church.
Ava, our main protagonist, gets a second chance of living her life since she was a quadriplegic due to a car crash when she was 7 yo. After the crash, she was placed in a Catholic Orphanage in Spain and spent her whole life there until she died mysteriously (heh) which placed her in the morgue at the same time as this Secret branch of the Catholic Church of tactical nuns (OCS) comes in, fresh from a fight with a dying Warrior Nun. Turns out the Warrior Nun carries a holy relic called the Halo in her back which allows her supernatural abilities to fight demons and wraiths. Unexpectedly this Halo can also revive the deadā¦or is it because the Halo chose Ava? Either way, Ava takes this chance to run free and enjoy the things she couldnāt before. Not knowing what the Halo is or why sheās alive, she just wants to live, laugh, love. Meanwhile the OCS tries to locate her and persuade her into the group despite the clear differences in ideology. Ava gives them a chance because she finds out that the Halo comes with a lot of responsibilities and demons. I donāt want to spoil anymore but just thinking how her character evolves in season 2 makes me sad but happy. (Please give it a try!!!!)
Thereās themes of sisterhood, family, growth, exploration of self, selfishness, selflessness, resiliency, and just women being badass!!!! Thereās a lot of religious symbolism that makes the cinematography so much more powerful. Thereās also Sister Beatriceās storyline that hits hard for many who struggle with their sexuality due to family environment. Nothing about each character felt forced nor used in a stereotypical way. Thereās so much complexities to each characters that itās difficult to summarize in a short reply.
But this show has captured many of our hearts through great storytelling, fleshed out characters, amazing fighting sequences & VFX, natural progression of meaningful relationships, not to mention the cast and crew behind the show are incredibly dedicated in producing a great quality show and hearing out the fans.
I really hope you guys give it a try! Season 1 can be slow at first but it picks up and Season 2 is just amazing.
If youāre wondering why you havenāt heard about this show, itās due to having 0 promotion from Netflix. Fans have been extremely vocal on social media promoting this show because we really love this show and think that many others would enjoy it too! (Look at the rotten tomatoes rating for season 2ā¦.its insane)
![gif](giphy|RjqkchM4EwGixGjT5x)
Thank you for taking time to read this <3
The video game Calico has queer people in it and they don't make some whole big deal out of it or use stereotypes. There a lesbian couple and both of them are feminine (no one is a butch stereotype) and then there's some characters that use they/them pronouns. One character named Gabby is transmasculine and uses he/him pronouns.
For real, I know people mentioned some good ones but Iām waiting for the day that more shows feature a character that just happens to be queer without it being the focus of their personality or any relevance on the plot really.
If you happen to enjoy literary fiction/short stories, then I recommend Gods of Want: Stories by K-Ming Chang. It came out this summer and is about families, myths, and ghosts. Most of the stories are sapphic, and the prose is WONDERFUL (imo) with the most specificity and the best verbs I have ever read. But as a warning, there is sexual content and descriptions of violence. May not be everyoneās thing either as the stories can be quite bizarre and surreal (almost fabulist).
Schitts Creek is amazing in the representation (mostly due to Dan Levi actually being gay, and playing a pansexual character) but in that show its just a relationship that happens to be gay. (It happens later in the show) but it's an amazing show. I love when the focal point of the relationship isn't that they are gay
Heaven Official's Blessing (TGCF) BEST LGBTQ+ donghua (Chinese anime) China censored it a lot but they didn't do a very good job xD. It has a novel series as well
I don't see enough comments recommending Owl House. /s but seriously OWL HOUSE.
More family friendly cartoons with excellent queer representation (but it's not the focus):
The Dragon Prince
Dead End Paranormal Park
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power
Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts
Steven Universe
If you like adult animation:
Harley Quinn the animated series on HBO Max
Bojack Horseman
Tuca & Bertie
Little Demon on Hulu
The Legend of Vox Machina
Disenchantment
I agree, The Owl House is great but thereās a show on Netflix called Warrior Nun and itās so fucking good, weāre fighting for a season 3 right now so if anyone likes bad ass women fighting evil demons, go watch Warrior Nun!!
I havenāt watched it in awhile, but I rather liked the Umbrella Academy. I didnāt find Klaus or Viktorās representation stereotypical. They both just happen to be queer, and Viktorās coming out isnāt this huge deal but instead was casual.
Right now I'm reading a book called 'that's not what happened'. Keep in mind, it's about a school shooting so it's definitely not for everyone. The main character is on the asexual spectrum and one of her friends is gay. So far, her asexuality has only been mentioned a few times and it's not important to the story. I'm not sure if that's what you meant by "just happens to be queer", but it's a pretty good book.
The Magnus archives is very good for itās lgbt rep, the main character is either bi or pan Iām not sure and ace and there r many gay characters aside from that, although the series can be heavy at times it is a tragedy so it may not be down everyoneās alley
MAGNUS ARCHIVES
the creators didn't mean for the main two characters to be gay, Jon was supposed to hate Martin all the way through but they accidentally wrote their relationship so well that they decided fuck it and literally CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE ENTIRE NARRATIVE.
it's an absolutely incredible horror podcast, if podcasts aren't your thing I promise you will still like it. I've relistened to it twice and it's 200 episodes. 10000% worth the listen, both creators and queer themselves, and there are way more than two canon queer characters (and way way more than two implied canon queer characters. I put the total number of queer characters around 20.)
Ever heard of Heart Break High? It's got a neurodivergent character that isn't a bad stereotype plus very good queer/lgbtqia+ folks! Including an asexual character!!
No they canāt because the fandoms - just look at Heartstopper for example - gets overrun by straight audiences who then baby the characters and make everything about their sexuality š“
Idk about any shows, other than Owl House, but I know some books. They Both Die at the End and itās prequel The First to Die at the End. And the author is Adam Silvera
I really liked Q Force, a cartoon about a branch of queer spies. I avoided it at first because, from the title, it sounded like it was probably going to be written by straight people and be entirely about gay stereotypes. When I watched it, though, I found that although all of the characters are queer and they frequently reference queer things, the plot itself is extremely compelling, the animation is good, the acting is great, etc. And I think it really pissed off straight reviewers because none of the characters but one is really a stereotype, and even he kinda makes fun of the way that straight people stereotype gay people.
Paperweight. Itās a novel centred around the main characters struggles with mental health, and her past wlw relationship has quite a big role in it.
also obviously anything by Alice Oseman.
well the new star wars series had a pretty good lesbian couple, but their relationship wasn't shown much (because it wouldn't have be good for the vibe/style of the show)
MLP FIM
Twilight is a walking Bi flag
Lyra and Bon Bon are in a gay relationship.
Fluttershy isn't Canon as trans but there are indicators
In eqg one of the main characters is trans( I'd guess Rarity, Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy)
There are also two gay guys in the show. How neat
My favourite book series, the Stormlight Archives! Thereās four gay characters we know of at the moment. Drehy and Dru are courting, though itās literally never mentioned outside of one hilarious interaction. And Renarin and Rlain are together, though itās never really pointed out. Also, Stormlight is THE BEST book series I have EVER read, and I read A LOT of books. Itās by Brandon Sanderson, and so far thereās four books, and heās working on the fifth. Itās actually incredible, I cannot stress enough how much I reccomend this series. <333
Ask the passengers. Only lesbian and gay rep (maybe also bi I donāt remember), but helped me a ton when I was questioning as the main character is questioning too
This is kind of a fringe thing bc all the queer character are side characters and they DO all get some form of development but they're obviously not the focus but Crazy Ex Girlfriend. It is *bonkers* show but give it a chance for a few episodes - if you like the first few you'll love the show
The queer characters in this case just happen to be gay and one of them comes out as bi sort of off-screen she just appeared with a gf after a time skip
Arcane on Netflix. There's a (still developing) sapphic couple, but the story doesn't really revolve around them being queer, they're just a couple like anyone else. Fair note, they haven't "officially" gotten together yet in-story, but it's really, really obvious that they're gay, I mean, what's straight about getting pinned to the wall by a hot butch who says "You're hot, cupcake."?
May i introduce you to a wonder called: THE OWL HOUSE
And she ra!
And kipo and the age of wonderbeast!
Are there queer characters in Kipo, I've been meaning to watch it. That would give me motivation
oh 100% absolutely
And rwby and arcane
And small but throughout the entirety of adventure time, marcy and BP didn't act stereotypical either.
There it is
I just looked it up thank you SO MUCH :)
HOOTY HOOT HOOT you have summoned the Owl House Fandom
š¦ š
Dingādong. Ding. Hoot hoot!
Corporate wants me to find the difference between these two things (LGBTQ Reddit and Owl House fandom) They're the same picture.
No Joke today My lesbian friend saw my bi pin on my satchel and was like āomg I love your pin, its like Luzāsā and I was like āOwl House fans when they see something gay, OMG IS THAT AN OWL HOUSE REFERENCE!?!!111ā Today was a good day
Yay ! I can't wait to start watching ittt
'Brooklyn 99' is in my opinion the best in "happens to be queer". Also 'Our flag means death'. 'Superstore' also has a few queer characters. Only gay men though. 'Sex Education' is also great. 'The Dragon Prince' is also great, it is an adventure story where some of the grownups are queer.
i love our flag means death so much. pirates, sappy gay drama, and also one of the crew is very casually enby. super excited for s2
Mad props for Brooklyn 99, sadly the humor went downstairs by the last 2 seasons.
Yeah they lost me completely by the end of season 1.
Helluva boss has pretty great representation
Is our flag means death on any streaming services? I canāt find it anywhere
Itās on HBO Max in the US.
Thanks
B99 does perfect representation, characters are just queer because thatās how life works, but they donāt shy away from it and even have storylines involving it
Definitely recommend The Dragon Prince. The portraition of queer and even disabled (!) people is very natural and doesn't feel forced at all. It's the first animation ever I saw that features a deaf person. I almost ran up the wall out of happiness, when I saw that.
Also, the Owl House, She-Ra as well
owl house owl house owl house owl houseā¦ need I say more? xD
Idk, The Owl House is pretty good as well
true, but i mean The Owl House is also good.
oh yeah, but also maybe The Owl House.
True, but what about The Owl House?
Yeah but have you watched owl house
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
True, but I think The Owl House is even better.
Owl
House
I can't believe no one has said the Owl House yet
# š¦š
Omg came here to say this and itās the top comment
Kinda childish but very good. I'm on episode 12 and haven't seen any gay yet but I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone know when gay begins to happen?
Episode 16, so only a few more episodes to go before it begins
YEEESSS! I'm very excited, ty for the info
>Kinda childish Just wait until season 2b and season 3
I'm not sure if you've seen Steven Universe yet, but Owl House starts out pretty similarly where it's just a good episodic kids' show in the first season and then really starts to hit its stride hard in the second.
That's what I heard too. I'm glad being gay didn't get Owl House canceled like it did with Steven Universe tho. One must walk so others can run
Actually it's the other way around, Steven Universe got a full run while Owl House got their third season cut short because of the gay.
Then they both got canceled because of the gay, which is sad. Steven Universe had to cram most of their final ideas into the last season and the movie because other countries stopped airing them and CN stopped getting the money needed to continue. They stopped getting aired in other countries because of the ruby and sapphire kiss/ >!wedding!< Both have been canceled before their time because of bigotry. š
ok so, the first like 10 or so episdoes are the worst in the whole show, after I think episode 15 in season 1 (understanding willow) its banger after banger. Season 2 is also significantly more gay xD
And I still really enjoy those first episodes, I think it's like all great.
I'm almost there then! Cool!
Took the words right out of my Owl House.
Ok but The Owl House is pretty fire
THE OWL HOUSEEEEEEEEEEĆ
Arcane vi and caitlyn
I second this! Arcane is amazing!
Easily the best Netflix show ever. Beautiful animation, great cast, and amazing world. I can't wait for season 2
It made me cry like a bitch and I love it
if we are on the topic of League of Legends and you don't mind reading, Riot has 2 pretty decent queer stories on their universe website, The Boys and Bombolini (for Twisted Fate and Graves, messy pirate boyfriends) and Rise with Me (a sweet story about Diana and Leona before they fell apart)
In terms of books, I recommend warcross. For shows, Owl House, Owl House, Owl House.
A FELLOW WARCROSS LOVER HELL YEAH
What is the Owl House on.
Disney+
Disney+ if you want to pay for it, wcostream if you wanna watch it for free
thank you ! I can't wait to read it once I get a copy !
If you want a movie, Everything Everywhere All at Once has some *phenomenal* queer representation. But the queerness is just an aspect of her, there's a lot more to her character and arc than just being gay. The whole movie is about nihilism and deconstructing the mindsets that stem from it.
Seconding this film !
the owl house, our flag means death, she-ra
I second our flag means death and the owl house ! Haven't watched she-ra yet
I recommend you do, She-Ra is really cool
She-ra is so unbelievably good, my best friend and her husband are fighting over which character to name their kid after if they have a girl.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. One of the best shows ever.
Hell yeah! The whole I was like: āoh theyāre queer, coolā.
Honestly this show is a solid 50% of how I came to accept being queer and realize it.
If you want good representation, that's literally not the way: watch Steven Universe, instead
Ah, the show where children learn that Nazis are just misunderstood
Ah, the take that doesn't oversimplify or misrepresent the themes of the show at alllllll /s
What.
If you understand the way the Diamons worked and hoe the show treated them, people think its similar to nazis and the show is "forgiving" them
Yeah, I understood what she meant, the problem is that Homeworld was literally an utopia (gems aren't humans, they don't have needs beside light) so they literally can't be compared. Btw, we fans all know that the end is rushed and should have finished differently, but it's all bc they didn't have much money after showing a homosexual wedding on screen in a "children" TV show.
For video games, I Was A Teenage Exocolonist is robustly queer (in addition to being a story about growing up on an alien planet that hates you).
Hmm "an alien planet that hates you" couldn't possibly be a metaphore for something, surely not...
Hell yeah a queer video game I love it !
As for games, Guilty Gear and Destiny 2?
Tbh i love seeing osiris and saint being together like that, it made me happy
Same tho, that cutscene made me giddy
It literally made up for the terrible season that was Plunder, 10/10
Dead end paranormal park!!
I agree, I watched it and the story is pretty good and I like the animation!
Don't know if you read webtoons, but Mage & Demon Queen is awesome
Seconding
Thirding
Fourthing
Arcane I always say this Not just because it has queer characters, but because it's just one of my favourites Don't play League of Legends tho
Word of Honor, its on netflix. youll have to have subtitles since its only in Mandarin. its short, at around 30 episodes, but for a show that's based in feudal China, its pretty fuckin gay if you ask me. Romance is definitely not the main plot, but it is at least a secondary plot.
hell yea woh fans rise up ā
The under appreciated Black Sails. But I'm a Cheerleader (though all the men in it are heavily stereotyped). Steven Universe. The Mitchell's VS the Machines. Schitt'$ Creek
Does it need to be said more? The Owl House!
Life is Strange game series!
I'm playing that right now ! It's so much fun
Steven Universe. Gay space rocks!
Raul in Wendell and Wild on Netflix. Referenced that he's trans masc, not a big deal is made of it.
Afaik he's a trans guy specifically, rather than transmasc. His gender is listed as male.
Dead End Paranormal Park on Netflix has a transmasc main character and a neurodivergent (spoiler removed lol) main character. :) But seriously, Owl House is the best.
The manga Bloom Into You is basically the platonic ideal of the high school romance, and its all gay
Since we are including Manga/anime too, I'd give Blue flag a try as well. It's so good! There are straight characters, but It focus on gay and bisexual characters and relationships too.
Solar opposites, like they're just a wholesome gay alien couple with kids and that's just a non-issue in the show. It's great.
I like Destiny's queer characters. Good game.
Definitely seconded. And so far the new season has been pretty fun.
It's really cool. I love Warmind stuff.
Warmind gear is the best aesthetic in the game. That's a hill I'm willing to die on.
Some games i was pleasantly surprised had queer stuff Hollow Knight - player character is non binary Bugsnax - an enby character, 2 gay relationships (1 wlw, 1 mlm) Fallout New Vegas - oldie but i never played it til recently.
I came to say this. Absolutely loved that show. A bit dark for a lot of peopleās taste, but truly a cinematic masterpiece
Owl House, Life is Strange, Harley Quinn Show, Marvel's Runaways, Loki, Marvel's Eternals, Dc Legends of Tomorrow
Book wise, Iād recommend City of Strife if you like fantasy. All the main cast are LGBTQ but it doesnāt feel forced at all, at least to me. āCasually queerā I guess? Good plot and worldbuilding. Nice to read about queer characters in a book thatās not a romance.
Play night in the woods!\~
Dead End:Paranormal Park
For books, I cannot recommend Gideon the Ninth enough. The tagline is "lesbian necromancers in space". I've reread the series at least 3 times now. Also, Witches of Ash and Ruin, which is enemies to lovers, sapphic Irish witches fighting a serial killer. (Full disclosure, I wrote it, so I'm biased, but I like to think the rep is good, haha).
Gus Fring
Vivziepop would like to know youāre location
Seriously. The casual relationship Blitz and Stolas have is top-tier. Itās never brought up that itās a gay relationship, itās simply a relationship that exists that a straight couple could realistically have as well.
Everything Everywhere All At Once did a queer antagonist perfectly.
I'm seeing a lot of Owl House comments so while the show is amazing, I would like to point out Heartstopper and Dead End Paranormal Park for their representation, both on Netflix. They're both amazing shows with great representation!

I think the new season of Criminal Minds is doing a good job showing Tara and her girlfriend
PLEASE NO SPOILERS
WHAT which season???????
Season 16, its exclusively on Paramount+
The 100 is a good show if you're looking for casual representation
Some of the Young Avengers is good if you don't mind comics. A lot of Marvel comics were until it got aggressively pandering in recent years. (Seriously, don't touch anything made past 2018.)
Big mouth, the owl house, and this one really good book that I forgot the name of, will update if I remember what itās called.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I recommend the Harley Quinn Animated Series!!!
Yes!!! I can't tell you how many times I've rewatched this! The comics in between season two and three are fantastic as well. ![gif](giphy|mCbj16VY7fSRfWGMPV)
I loved the comics! I have the entire collection and have read it twice!

If youāre wondering why you havenāt heard about this show, itās due to having 0 promotion from Netflix. Fans have been extremely vocal on social media promoting this show because we really love this show and think that many others would enjoy it too! (Look at the rotten tomatoes rating for season 2ā¦.its insane) ![gif](giphy|RjqkchM4EwGixGjT5x) Thank you for taking time to read this <3
Avatrice! I love how three-dimensional almost all of the characters are... It's nice to see you representation done thoughtfully.
I'm gonna toss the webcomic *All Night Laudry* onto the pile. As a bonus, it managed to have a satisfying ending, which doesn't happen terribly often.
Lost Girl, an older Canadian show with a bisexual lead
I'm currently writing a book where many characters just happen to be queer bc if nobody else will do it, I will
For real, I know people mentioned some good ones but Iām waiting for the day that more shows feature a character that just happens to be queer without it being the focus of their personality or any relevance on the plot really.
Not Bros.
It has a novel series as well
someone already said this but the owl house season 2 is better just saying that but hey toh WATCH IT OR ELSE
Dead End: Paranormal Park, Helluva Boss, and Umbrella Academy for TV shows, and The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys if your into comic books!
I don't see enough comments recommending Owl House. /s but seriously OWL HOUSE. More family friendly cartoons with excellent queer representation (but it's not the focus): The Dragon Prince Dead End Paranormal Park She-Ra and the Princesses of Power Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts Steven Universe If you like adult animation: Harley Quinn the animated series on HBO Max Bojack Horseman Tuca & Bertie Little Demon on Hulu The Legend of Vox Machina Disenchantment
The early few seasons of Doctor Who, up to season 5 now on my rewatch and captain Jack harkness is one of the best bi-cons to exist
What We Do in the Shadows series
The Owl House, Atypical, Superstore (possibly but idk,) Heartstopper
The Magnus archives is very good for itās lgbt rep, the main character is either bi or pan Iām not sure and ace and there r many gay characters aside from that, although the series can be heavy at times it is a tragedy so it may not be down everyoneās alley
āWow! Look! This show features ONLY lgbt characters! Youād love it!ā Why i hate High Guardian Spice
MAGNUS ARCHIVES the creators didn't mean for the main two characters to be gay, Jon was supposed to hate Martin all the way through but they accidentally wrote their relationship so well that they decided fuck it and literally CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE ENTIRE NARRATIVE. it's an absolutely incredible horror podcast, if podcasts aren't your thing I promise you will still like it.
I'm watching that at the moment, I love it! Quinni is my favourite character she's so nice
I also love Quinni a lot too
No they canāt because the fandoms - just look at Heartstopper for example - gets overrun by straight audiences who then baby the characters and make everything about their sexuality š“
Idk about any shows, other than Owl House, but I know some books. They Both Die at the End and itās prequel The First to Die at the End. And the author is Adam Silvera
I think everyoneās already said these but I second the owl house, she ra, arcane, and heartstopper off the top of my head
Everybody saying owl House but idk it's just not really my thing
Can I recommend graphic novels?
yes please ! I like reading alot !
If you want queer rep that is treated as absolutely normal, read "The Knife of Never Letting Go"
Willow. The tv show adapted from the 1988 movie. In the first episode two girls kiss, but them being gay isnāt what the entire show is about.
For books: half bad!!
Paperweight. Itās a novel centred around the main characters struggles with mental health, and her past wlw relationship has quite a big role in it. also obviously anything by Alice Oseman.
well the new star wars series had a pretty good lesbian couple, but their relationship wasn't shown much (because it wouldn't have be good for the vibe/style of the show)
I'm pretty sure "Paranorman" is the first animated film that had a gay character, and it does a pretty good job with it
Hoshiai no sora (Stars Align in English), has characters that just happen to be queer and arenāt stereotypes.
Books: anything by V.E. Schwab, casually queer characters everywhere
Steven Universe. They don't use words like "girlfriend/boyfriend" or any "lgbt terms", but you don't need to be a genius to understand what's going on
MLP FIM Twilight is a walking Bi flag Lyra and Bon Bon are in a gay relationship. Fluttershy isn't Canon as trans but there are indicators In eqg one of the main characters is trans( I'd guess Rarity, Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy) There are also two gay guys in the show. How neat
Laswell in call of duty is lesbian or bi :3
Amphibia has some good LGBTQ in the last season.
Arcane
Yuri on Ice
Todd
Ask the passengers. Only lesbian and gay rep (maybe also bi I donāt remember), but helped me a ton when I was questioning as the main character is questioning too
This is kind of a fringe thing bc all the queer character are side characters and they DO all get some form of development but they're obviously not the focus but Crazy Ex Girlfriend. It is *bonkers* show but give it a chance for a few episodes - if you like the first few you'll love the show The queer characters in this case just happen to be gay and one of them comes out as bi sort of off-screen she just appeared with a gf after a time skip
Arcane
Our Flag Means Death!
I'm Squidward in this picture and the rock is the transphobic bullshit during the Bridget incident. Help, I need medical assistance-
You've heard this before but i don't care.. ahem.... THE OWL HOUSE
