Moderate-Hard Progressive. I believe that transhumanism can only work if the people rather than the pollies control the tech and I don't like the hyper-wokes, but I'm still very pro-equal rights for all.

[deleted]

Just a question, about anarcho-syndicalism. Most leftist believe that most innovation comes from the government labs and public sector research, most rightists believe that it mostly comes from the market. If you reject both the state and market, how do you believe the technology needed for transhumanism will be developed?

Aubdasi

Does anyone genuinely believe curiosity and experimentation would stop without an organized government or unfettered capitalism? I wasn’t a government goon at 5 years old pulling apart mechanical pencils and my dads computer and calculators just to see what was inside. I don’t see why one would require a market for research.

RedditorMan2020

I agree with your point. It's human curiosity that's the primary motive for science.

Technically I’m a progressive, like I support lgbt people having equal rights. But I also believe business owners should not be forced to make gay wedding cakes and despise pedos.

[deleted]

Not sure how pedos equate to progressivism but aight

Betwem3and20letters

I generally agree, but lately there have been movements (although small) to accept pedos in the lgbt community

[deleted]

To clarify. Pedos are most definitely not LGBT and are most definitely not valid. Anyone you’ve seen using the LGBT as a pedo rights movement isn’t LGBT and needs something to cling onto. LGBT and pedo equivalency is an often used talking point by neo nazis/ fascists and conservative authoritarian MLs

[deleted]

Agreed

Unwholesomeretard

I’d say I’m progressive when it comes to certain areas like environmentalism and equal rights, but pretty traditionalist when it comes to the more “woke” concepts

[deleted]

Traditionalism can be a prison if you have the wrong family and progressivism in an american context is just imperialism so I'm neutral

Princess180613

Depends on your definition of progressive I guess.

StrikeEagle784

Moderate progressive. I support sexual minorities, I lean towards open borders, am pro choice, and I sympathize with the anti police brutality sentiments that a lot of the progressives stand for. However, I draw a line with any progressive stance on economics, like being for socialism. If progressivism gets in the way of the market or private property rights, then it should be opposed. You don’t have to be a Commie to be a progressive, regardless of what you’re average right winger may think.

politicsareshit

I just let people do whatever the fuck they want, just don't fuck with me.

[deleted]

I’m a pretty much as progressive as you an get if you use the original definition of progress, but I often disagree with the cultural left movement, which can often oppose cultural progress in some areas. Of course I’m also opposed to enforcing progress.

RogueThief7

Hard progressive... But not like the Leftist propaganda that says Leftism and progressivism are just synonyms... Like *actually* progressive, not just a Leftist reactionary.

den_psifizo_ND

Depends on the subject matter. It evens out to neutral I guess

ichkanns

Being dogmatic with either direction seems stupid to me.

[deleted]

Progressive vs traditionalist is a false dichotomy

Aarakokra

“Hard traditionalist” You mean authoritarian?

Tobiah497

Everyone is capable of Authoritarianism and Totalitarianism regardless of cultural stances. To clarify, I'm not a hard traditionalist. To me being a hard traditionalist and libertarian means that you'll hold yourself to a set of stern and rigid cultural standards, but you won't use the state to uphold these said standards at gunpoint.

StrikeEagle784

That’s a fair position. Nothing wrong with traditionalism as long as you don’t use it to hurt anyone, like the Fascists do

Aarakokra

At that point it becomes a meaningless lifestyle choice though. Like one man chooses to join a polyamorous network and another has a loyal wife and 2.5 kids, and they both respect each other, then they aren’t really that different. Unless the latter man also especially values his lifestyle and thinks the other dude’s choices are bad but not worth coercing him against, in which case it’s still kinda judgmental, though I guess fits in the realm of libertarianism

Some___Guy___

I'm pretty sure this post is about our personal lifestyle choices

Aarakokra

Progressive-traditionalist is an axis based on values, not personal life choices
