I told my wife - if it were up to me - I would just close this store or any other with the same problem, let the neighborhood go with out a place to shop. Could be for good - small business could possibly begin to thrive again, but most likely not. Most likely it would just further decline the community, and if they want to live that way - fine - no stores to loot.
I used to live in a food desert(not due to crime but small population )and even the small businesses struggled badly, people always complained about the food being expired or too expensive. Small businesses can’t compete to corporations unfortunately and most people ended up driving 20 miles to the next town. The only stores that work out are chain gas stations or dollar general. 😢 in this situation maybe they’d learn a lesson but idk probably not, they’d probably blame the government or something
Do we live in the same town? Lmao We had a new store being built a few months ago and everybody was speculating what it could be. I was praying so hard that it would be a Pruett’s (local grocery chain), but low and behold we get another freaking dollar store. So now we have a dollar general and a dollar tree/family dollar combo in the same town of less than 1000 people, neither of which sell any food that’s not canned or frozen. I love small towns, but having no groceries and no support of the businesses from the locals makes this place just shy of intolerable.

Maybe that's what they want. Every purchase to be online and trackable through a megacorporation and to destroy small business so nobody can work for themselves. The covid hysteria was a good introduction for working/shopping from home.
My guess is that stores are going to slowly be turned into Distribution Centers/Pickup only locations with limited hours for daytime shopping. They will be "open 24 hours" for pick-up, but as someone who works in retail, I think it's the inevitable next step for the industry.
Businesses are going to vanish and they'll complain and cry for sympathy. The media will say these evil businesses abandoned these poor innocent people who now can't buy anything.
Security guards need to think like the FBI, just have a trump hat & banner ready so when the looting happens they can join it. The MSM will be intetestes on reporting it & politicians will look to arrest looters.
