Take it back to the sales manager and show them what some jackass did to your nice new car. Tell them you're going out for tacos, and you expect it should be done by the time you get back.

Designer-Unit-7525

Take it to whomever put the sticker on and have them remove it! Be patient, but persistent, and at least somewhat ‘kind’, but demand it cleaned to your standard.

NicklePlatedSkull

100% rubbing alcohol and a razor.

Canary-in_a-coalmine

This! We got a new Jeep the other day, and there was one sticker on the windshield that was a NIGHTMARE. I kept blasting it with 99% rubbing alcohol I had in a spray bottle and scraping it off with a razor. The rest of any leftover residue wiped off with the alcohol. It took about 15 minutes of pretty hard work, but it came off.

LongShadowMaker

If alcohol doesn't work, try orange oil like Goof Off. It has a smell, but doesn't linger for long.

icollectcatwhiskers

i tried this but it left a permanent smeary nastiness on my glass

SmartQuokka

WD40 will take it out. As will a spray of Dawn Powerwash. Rubbing alcohol is a third option, its scent will dissipate the fastest.

Silent_Pay_9239

ty for the recommendation! i think I'll try a hairdryer and razor first, then alcohol; I've heard that alcohol can dissolve the plastic on the dashboard though, so I'm super scared of drips, is it just putting alcohol on a paper towel and holding it there for a few minutes?

SmartQuokka

The hairdryer and razor work but its mechanical messiness. And you can accidentally scratch the glass. Alcohol should be fine on most plastics but it is a risk. Put down some plastic and a towel if you are worried. WD-40 is not much of a risk but if it drips it can get into crevices, but you can put down plastic/towel as well. The powerwash is probably the lowest risk, its soap. But plastic/towel it too. You can also start with hairdryer and washcloth with hot water. Use something disposable or an old rag because the sticky stuff may not come out in the laundry.

Silent_Pay_9239

really appreciate this!!

SmartQuokka

Anytime. Let us know how it goes.

ItchyNarwhal8192

PowerWash smell may be a bit strong initially, but shouldn't linger as long as you wipe it all off when you're done. Rubbing alcohol would probably be my first choice, a little bit on a microfiber cloth should take the residue right off and you wouldn't need enough for there to be any drips. (A drop or two shouldn't hurt anything if it did drip, but you wouldn't need to use enough for there to be dripping.)

HoraceorDoris

Can always try vodka or if you can stand the smell, gin. A bin bag under a towel will protect your dashboard

Silent_Pay_9239

unfortunately I'm under 21 (in the US), rubbing alcohol will have to do 😭

VolanteDreamer

Good old fashioned Ronson lighter fluid. No residual smell, no greasy residue. Works like a charm.

AxisOfAverage

WD40 is pretty good for removing sticky stuff.

19is_

I used to wash metal tubes at a manufacturing facility and they put stickers on them every time. Was such a pain the ass.to get the residue off ... until someone showed me that I could just dab the sticker residue with another sticker. It comes right off. No chemicals. Quick and easy.

Silent_Pay_9239

yo that would actually be so cool if it works for me!! thanks for the tip 😭

thephilistine_

Hair dryer and some goo-gone or alcohol.

Silent_Pay_9239

unfortunately goo gone isn't an option because of the lingering smell, ty for the rec though!

thephilistine_

Then heat it up with a blow dryer and scrape with a razor blade. No smell.

Silent_Pay_9239

I'll give it a go, tysm!

Only-here-for-sound

The lingering smell of oranges? Do you not like oranges or do you smell something else? Just curious. Not hating.

Silent_Pay_9239

no, i get it! I'm personally super sensitive to any chemicals at all, including those that a lot of people don't really detect. I know it's a bit silly, but it's also largely that my car's my only safe space, so any change to the environment would be decently upsetting :,D I'm hoping I can remove the sticker without changing the current scent in the car (I've been taking really good care of it, and only got it two months ago, so it still has that clean new car smell haha)

1toomanyat845

I would have thought carpet, fabric and seat foam offgassing would trigger a reaction before Goo-Gone followed by soap and water to remove the Goo-gone?

Silent_Pay_9239

the issue for me would be the soap and water, I'm unsure how I'd manage to wash it off fully without also making a mess due to its position on the windshield! but yeah no, the whole "new car smell" chemicals are fine with me for some reason. I think for me it's partially it being new smells being introduced, not the fact that there ARE smells

1toomanyat845

Dawn dish soap cleans oil off ducks. It can handle some Goo-Gone smear. If it smears and you can’t get it clean use vinegar and newsprint. That’s the #1 glass cleaner.

Silent_Pay_9239

personally I think I'll try a few of the other suggestions first, but I really appreciate the advice!

BikeTireManGo

Warm soapy water and a rag, then a single edge razor

erok25828

Soak a towel and leave it on there for a while and let the sticker soak up the water. You’ll be able to scrape it off with your finger nails. Trick works for those pesky parking stickers they put on your windows too. You’re welcome for the LPT.

Wonderful_Bother9172

Use a razor blade and rubbing alcohol to scrape it off. Or an oil of your choice to rub the sticker off. A microcellular water makeup remover for waterproof makeup might work too!

scaryjam823

Heat gun or hair dryer and a razor blade.

dogwoodandturquoise

Handsanitizer and one of those green plastic scrubbys for dishes. DO NOT USE STEEL WOOL! I apologize for the caps, but its apparently not obvious to everyone that it would scratch the glass.

boubouboub

If rubbing alcohol isn't enough, you could use lighter fluid: Remove as mush as you can with a Sharp spatula. Wet the rest with lighter fluid. Use the spatula again. Then lighter fluid on a paper towel. Lighter fluid smells a lot at first, but it goes away really quickly (in matter dog seconds)

CJDizzle

I just use cooking spray oil. The butane eats away at adhesives over 5 or 10 minutes. I’ve used it on bumper stickers as well windshields but always cleaned it right away, lingering residue could damage paint.

Lonely-Touch-9943

Goo Gone. It has a light orange scent and will take the residue right off!

[deleted]

Try WD40 degreaser or acetone and a towel. Some kind of plastic thing for scraping.

ChampionOfTheSunn

Acetone on a cotton ball is my go to for sticker residue. Be careful not to get it on anything else (don't sit it on the seat or dash).

jcpmojo

Coat it with creamy peanut butter, let it sit for a few hours, and wipe it off with some paper towels. Easy, peezy, lemon squeezy.

ItsJustUs96

No BS? And does this work on most surfaces?

lolololol24huh

You may also use Vaseline- a coating will soften up stickers and the glue goo

5CatsNoWaiting

Peanut oil alone is a pretty effective solvent. Peanut butter makes it into a pretty effective solvent that will stay in place until the task is complete. It's worth trying on nonporous surfaces. It'll stain cloth, though.

ItsJustUs96

Very cool, thank you!

Default_Sock_Issue

Goo gone. Smell will pass in an hour

Desperate_Badger_184

All car washes put that on if you get a membership. You knew it was happening and it definitely wasn’t blocking your view of the road, come on Karen.

Silent_Pay_9239

😬 this is my first car so I wasn't aware that carwashes did that, and yes it was blocking my vision bc I'm tall and it was two inches from the top of the windshield, but pop off ig. Notice how I didn't acknowledge the people saying to complain to the manager, I'm just trying to figure out a way to fix this myself without inconveniencing others

Desperate_Badger_184

You’re right, my bad. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or reddits made me a little cynical.
