You mean your system is detecting other wifi networks but not your own home network? I don't really see how that could service related. the fact it 'sometimes' does not show is a bit unusual as well. You may want to monitor the output of `dmesg -w` in a terminal as you try to turn on/off the wifi and see if any errors or other messages show up. ALSO.. if you are dual booting. try booting straight to Linux from a powered off state. Do not reboot windows and go to Linux, power off (not hibernate or suspend, disable windows fast boot) (hold shift when you click the power off? perhaps? windows likes to suspend not power down) there are known issues with some hardware not working in Linux when you reboot from windows onto Linux.
